For the temples, I can imagine them as a block of 3 rooms by 3 rooms by 3 rooms of fixed size, randomly chosen and assigned from a bigger set (where sometimes the rooms take the place of 2, 3 or 4 rooms) with locked doors connecting them in a certain order towards the big boss' room.
By the way, since the worlds are all randomly generated, it may be hard to get all elemental temples to show up in a small range. Do you want only one elemental temple of every kind to show up?
You may want in that case to make sure it does not become a specific map generator so it must keep some form of accessibility for general gaming.
I'd personally be happy to wander the world and fall upon special mobs in a biome near their temple, but I don't want to relentlessly try to find that last, only, and way-too-far-cause-of-randomness Light temple in order to make the light arrows in order to beat the big last boss to beat the game.
Still, interesting loots to get when beating bosses could be a creeper hat where creepers wouldn't try and explode if worn majora's-mask style, a flute of travel which brings you to different points link-to-the-past style, Winged boots for feather falling, and so on.
For villages and city ideas, I shamelessly self-present a mod I'm working on/with that would spawn more varied <towns>.
Only one elemental temple of each kind should show up, MAYBE up to three of each. As for finding them, an item that works similarly to the eye of ender shouldn't be too hard to create. Could call the item a Talisman, and it could be crafted from an ender pearl and four items surrounding it (Emeralds for Earth, Saphires for Ice, Rubies for fire, Diamonds for air, Obsidian for Shadow, and Quartz for Light). Depending on what item surrounds the ender pearl, will determine which temple it will point you to. Eg. An Earth talisman will point you in the direction of the nearest earth temple, the fire talisman to the fire temple, etc.
A point that I should make is that the Light and Shadow Temples cannot be found in the overworld: they are in their corresponding dimension, the Shadow Temple can be found in the Shadow Dimension, fairly close to the spawn, while the Light Temple can be found in the Light Dimension close to the spawn.
Well I couldn't manage to recover my account on this site so I created a new one.
I might try to get back into modding to try and help you with this project because it seems like it could be fun but we will see. It all depends on my school work.
How about to add some classes? May be you can add npc, which will give 1st profession to player, and help this player improves, or change his profession for money?
It would make sense If I start the conversation. I figured out how to do it and will get it up here so that we can discuss mod specifics in relative privacy.
Okay, the PM Disscussion Thread is up!I took the liberty of putting a few "packets" in there for you guys to start working on. The packets will serve as the backbone for the rest of the mod, so they need to get done.
I'll go ahead and post the packets in this thread as an additional reference:
Before we can do anything else, we need some new materials to work with,I have come up with a few "Packets" for people to work on to get us started. Let me know which one you want to work on. These packets contain blocks and items that fit in a similar category. Most of them aren't that developed, so if you have any suggestions, that would be great! If you want to work on a particular packet, let me know in this discussion. The Packets are first come first serve!
The Ice Temple Packet:
The Ice Temple is a cold place carved out of the very ice that was found in the Tundra. As such it will be made from Ice, Packed Ice, and Snow, as well as the custom blocks listed below. Ice and Water based hostile mobs will be the challenge here.
Blocks: Ice Bricks, Ice Slabs, Chiseled Ice, Ice Pillars, Ice Stairs, and Colored Snow Blocks. Ice Bricks, Ice Slabs, and Ice Stairs should resemble their stone-brick counterparts in texture, but should look like they are made out of solid ice. For the Chiseled Ice and Ice Pillars, use your imagination and make it look cool.
Items:Ice Shards; I suggest that you base the Ice Shard design off of Flint, but changing the color to make it look like it is made of ice. Icicles; should be able to be attached to the top or underside of blocks, and should be able to be walked through when placed.
The Fire Temple Packet:
The Fire Temple will be made from blocks that will convey a feeling of heat and fire. Mobs here will be fire-based creatures.
Blocks: Suggestions Needed. Blocks designed for the Fire Temple should convey a bright, fire-oriented color and texture. There should be a pillar form of this block, a chisled version, stairs, and of course slabs. (Suggested name could be Firebrick or Onyx.)
Items: Suggestions Needed.
The Earth Temple Packet:
Blocks: Suggestions Needed. Blocks designed for the Earth Temple should convey a granular/rough texture of some kind, with a darker color(s). There should be a pillar form of this block, a chisled version, stairs, and of course slabs. (My Suggestions: Limestone or Slate)
Items: Suggestions Needed.
The Air Temple Packet:
Blocks: Suggestions Needed. Blocks designed for the Air Temple should convey a sense of freedom and unearthly beauty, with smooth, eye pleasing textures and bright color(s). There should be a pillar form of this block, a chisled version, stairs, and of course slabs. (My Suggestions: Marble)
Items: Suggestions Needed.
The Light and Shadow Temples shall not be worked on at this time, and will be addressed when their dimensions are being worked on.
Items: Silver Nugget, Silver Ingot, Adamantium Ingot, Ruby, and Sapphire.
If you wish to add any additional items or blocks to your packet, feel free to do so, but please let me know beforehand so I can update on what is in the packet!Other items will be added as we continue through the project and as we need them. Coder's are in charge of coming up with recipes and coding behavior for the new blocks. For the most part, what behaviors you give the new blocks is up to you, although I ask that you please use a bit of common sense with it: Eg, if you are coding ice bricks, make it behave more like ice than stone bricks. I also ask that you let me know what you are doing to the blocks so that I have some idea of what is going on.Texturers, same goes for you. What the blocks you design look like is mainly up to you, but please run your ideas by me first, and make sure you use some common sense when deciding how you want something to look.

That would fit with the Adventure/RPG theme...
But I am not sure how complicated that would be to code. IF one of my team members is willing to work on it or I could find someone else with experience who is willing to take it on, then I might have it added in.
However, it probably wouldn't be added in until later.
So, who likes the Temple Packets? Are they flexible enough, so you can do what you want to do? Do they provide a certain amount of structure as to what we are working on?

The packets are doable and overall pretty easy, I can get started whenever.

I think it wouldn't be too hard to code, 'coze its like a modified permission plugin, u can just rewrite it into the mod and add GUI
For the ice temple, I would see the ground as being very sliding, and there should be ice peaks on which if the character falls, it hurts him (like, off the main floors, peaks a bit below). Iron boots, or other, would cancel that effect.
Fire temple, Solidified magma could be an idea, and I don't know if it is possible but a block which starts to burn if you stand in place too long in place.
Armour that protects from heat.
Earth or Air: I'm sure there is room for a hookshoot in there.
Is there room for a metal/wood temple to replace air?

Why would the Air Temple need to be replaced by metal or wood? Part of the point is to have a temple that represents each of the four elements.
Now that I think about it, An air temple would have to be pretty tall, or even floating in the sky. Its puzzles would involve some sort of parcor theme to it and all the traps would try to push you off the narrow ledges that randomly spawn. To get higher you would use a combination of running, parkour jumping, climbing, and hook-shot to reach the top, upon which you will face some kind of boss that should take the form of some kind of giant bird.
I could help with the code if you want, however i am a beginning programmer and am still learning. Also it seems you already have one or two programmers. I do have one decent texture artist i may be able to get interested.

Welcome to the team, friend. Any person willing to help is welcome.
I was thinking about the 5 Chinese elements, which are Fire, Earth, Water, Wood and Metal
Air temple could, so we can access it without having players building sometimes horrible skyways, be spawning in mountains, so it is high and still somehow hard to reach.
Okay, so here is an update on the status. The Coding for the Ore Packet has been finished, and is awaiting textures and world generation.
All of the packets have been assigned to members of the team, and interesting ideas are being developed: Including a block that falls when an entity steps on it and a block that turns into lava when broken.
