I am a huge fan of the Mother series, specifically Earthbound. (Considering that it was the only English Mother game I would guess so.) Now, in the series of Nintendo games, there are powers that each of the four heroes can learn called PKs. I was thinking of ideas for an Earthbound mod and since I don't have any experience modding and can't understand anything having to do with Minecraft properties, I was thinking of throwing my ideas out there for mod developers to see. there are four main levels to each PK: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Omega. There is also a fifth variant but it's only for the Shield PK and the PSI Shield, the two being complete opposites. (I'll explain later)
I also have ideas of how the PKs should work:
PK Rockin (default name. Should be renamable in options menu or in PK GUI which I'll go over later) should be added with the beacon light effect to act as a laser and hurt mobs
Alpha: Standard beam. Travels through mobs. does 2 hearts of damage with a 2 second duration
Beta: Wider beam.Same time span and travels through mobs. 4 hearts damage. Wider beam makes for less need to be accurate.
Gamma: Even wider beam. Duration of 5 seconds. Allows for the beam to be drug around with the cursor more. For that reason only does 5 hearts damage.
Omega: Back to Alpha properties except does 10 hearts damage now.
PK Fire should be done like a fire charge: shot and can set fire to where it hits.
Alpha: Shoots fireball. sets fire to one block it lands on. If striking a mob, does 1 heart and sets enemy on fire.
Beta: Fireball. Explodes on impact with anything without breaking blocks.Still sets fire to only one block. 3 hearts damage and deals explosive damage.
Gamma:Same as Beta but larger blast radius, 3x3 fire square, and 5 hearts damage
Omega: Same as Gamma but massive blast radius and 8 hearts damage. same size fire square
PK Freeze should be taken a bit more seriously though.
Alpha: FREEZING CUSTOM PARTICLE SNOWFLAKE OF DEATH!! Ahem. Sorry. 3 hearts damage and slows enemy for 5 secs.. Freezes a block of water.NO SNOW! Dear god... I hate snow golems because of the constant snow. Doesn't slow Ender Dragon.
Beta: 5 hearts damage. Freezes a five block line of water starting from the block shot at and in the direction away from the caster. Slows enemy for 10 secs. Doesn't slow Ender Dragon.
Gamma: 8 hearts damage and freezes a 20x2 block line. Completely stops target's movement. Doesn't slow Ender Dragon.
Omega: 12 hearts damage. freezes a 50x3 line of water. Slows Ender Dragon.
PK Starstorm is a very powerful move that only has two strengths, Alpha and Omega.
Alpha: Drops a meteor atwhere the mouse is pointing. Meteor falls from sky, explodes (without breaking blocks), does 30 hearts damage, and leaves a flaming obsidian block where it lands.
Omega: Drops 10 meteors around the center point marked out by the mouse
PK Teleport should increase speed. There are also two variants for this PK as well.
Alpha: Increases speed to Speed Boost V equivalent for 10 seconds.
Beta: Teleports you to 1) The spawn point, 2) Your home (your bed), or 3) a free point of your choosing.
PK Flash should make hostile mobs run in random circles and sometimes attack other mobs, with increasing power making the duration last longer
Alpha:Confuses for 5 secs. 1 heart damage.
Beta:Confuses for 10 secs. 2 hearts damage.
Gamma: Confuses for 15 secs. 3 hearts damage.
Omega: Confuses for 20 secs. 4 hearts damage.
PK Thunder should be conducted similarly to PK Starstorm in that it is at mouse point. Doesn't supercharge creepers. 1 strike= 2-3 hearts.
Alpha: Lightning strike at point of mouse. 1-2 strikes
Beta: 2-3 strikes
Gamma:3-4 strikes
Omega:4-6 strikes. Yes, 6
PK Magnet should keep its original use but have a couple minor tweaks.Every mob should have a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 they can have. None of them, besides Starmen, can actually put it to use though.
Alpha: 5 secs. to siphon 1- 6 pp.
Omega: 10 secs to siphon all pp.
There is no Beta or Gamma for this power in Earthbound.
PK Shield : protects you from Starmen PKs. One cast blocks all. Can take 2 PKs then dissipates. Gives you the supercharged effect until dissipation. This is the PK that uses the Sigma variation, but I don't feel it's needed. This is to keep the fight with a Starman interesting.
Shield should also give you the supercharged effect but take physical attacks.
Alpha: Takes 5 damage then dissipates.
Sigma:Takes 10 damage then dissipates.
Beta:Takes 15 damage then dissipates.
Omega:Takes 20 damage then dissipates.
I believe that's actually all the most useful PKs from Eartbound except maybe Offense up or Defense up. Now, mobs really shouldn't be too much of a major part. The only ones I could see being useful are Mr. Saturns, which could be tamable and throwable, and Starmen, being found in randomly spawning UFOs. These UFOs should have the same spawn rate as strongholds. Now for the primary way to restore PP, the points limiting your use of these powers. I think sleeping at night would be the best solution. Alternatively, there could be randomly spawning Magic Butterflies that when right clicked or punched, restore PP by 10.
The Mr. Saturns should only appear after defeating your first Starman. When tamed with cookies, they could be put on your head to allow you to "realize the true nature" of the material making up the outside of the UFO: Giygasium. Giygasium blocks should only be breakable when you have a Mr.Saturn on your head and a diamond pickaxe in your hand. When obtained, you must smelt down the blocks into a crimson item called a Giygasium Shard. These shards, when combined with a diamond, could create Giygasium Jewels, a dark red crystal that can be used to craft tools, weapons, armor, and an item. You could use the Giygasium Jewels with gold in a crafting table to create a Mani-Mani statue. This golden statue could raise enemy attack powers and raise their health.
Who said we should stop at PKs? What about adding Ness' weapons? I would personally like a diamond yo-yo. I'll show a crafting space of how I think the weapons should be crafted. (Keep in mind that these items could be made with Giygasium Jewels.)
Bat (M= material | - = blank | W = wood slab)

Slingshot ( M = material | S = string | - = blank)
M S M
- M -
- M -
Yo-Yo ( S = String | M = material | - = blank)

The bat could have natural knockback I, cobblestone could be placed in the crafting area to get 4 pebbles, which is ammo for the slingshot, and the Yo-Yo could shoot out 2 blocks and come back to the player. The slingshot could have less range but more damage than a bow.
I also have ideas of how the PKs should work:

THIS needs to be a thing!
I would love a lot to use PK in Minecraft...
Also there should be PK Beam, but you can't learn it if you learned PK Rockin'.
There should be Three User Options, like:
PK Users: Learns PK by leveling up and can use Mirror via Mu Training. Uses Melee.
Gadget Users: Can use Bottle Rockets and can repair Broken Items to use it. Also they can Spy to know an Enemy's type and weakness. Uses Guns.
Weapon Users: Can use Strong Melee weapons that other Users can't.
Also there should be a Party system (4 players max.) if a party member uses PK Teleport, all the Party teleports too.
Amazing idea!
