I am not sure if this has been done already, but i cant seem to find it anywhere so here goes...
Basicly, by findinding a blueprint in a dungeon or underground mine, you can combine it with 4 planks, 1 workbench and the blueprint, to get a doublewide workbench which allows you to build new tools, weapons and etc.
It basicly is like this:
* = crafting space.
* * *
* * *
* * *
* * *
* * *
* * *
Placing it works like placing a bed.
With this new block you can create new tools (as mentioned earlier) like longswords and so forth.

Soo.. what do you guys think?
EDIT: Based on animationcraftpg5's video:
But you have to love the idea of having an extended workbench.
Ya, it really was ment to be based on it. I should have said it was not my idea.
