I can't host my own minecraft server, and I saw the CraftBukkit and VoxelBox for SMP on the MineCon video. I would absolutely love something like VoxelSniper as a singleplayer map editor! With that sort of ease of use and power like photoshop in minecraft, I would just take off! Is there such a map editor or mod like voxel sniper or a single player plugin utillity with that like the CraftBukkit and Voxel Sniper? Please direct me to it if there is, and if not, I would be amazed if someone made it.
hmm... I want a little bit more, really. I want more control over map editing. I don't mean to sound needy, but I plan on building something massive. VERY massive.
edit: what about an out-of-game mapping tool with a GUI with much control? Anything like that?
MCEdit is an out of game editor, those are really the only 2 editors for minecraft.
Well dang, I might just be stuck... Let's just say... What if I where making a huge mountain fortress... Like, something such as, um, a massive city hidden inside of a large place of massive mountains? Oh, and I need to have the mountains made a certain way, like I need to have total control over the shape and way the mountains look, and it needs to fit into the Minecraft terrain, like inside of a normal world. I need a set of tools or a map maker to help me with this a lot.
To be honest, MCEdit or Worldedit do not have that kind of capability. Worldedit was created primarily on the focus of de-griefing servers, not a building tool. MCEdit doesn't have the kind of "brushes" or tools to do the kind of thing you are looking for. In all honesty, voxelsniper is the only thing that offers what you want. If you can't host your own, you could get someone to do that for you for free or if you go to upstream gaming's website, you can get a small server for $2 a month, very cheap.
That's the way to go.

a great thing to do is use different sizes of spheres of sand in world edit then change it all to stone or something. the problem is that one cannot layer dirt or grass over that easily.
personally i think worldedit is either as good or better than voxel sniper and it is really easy to make mountains with the sphere and smooth brushes i use it all the time for terraforming
The problem is some people don't have money, and bukket doesn't work on all computers my laptop doesn't want to run bukket. It would be nice if voxelsniper was a part of the Voxel modpack, and not just the GUI for it.
What about things like brushes and relatively easy use, and as they said at minecon, "Photoshop-like features"?
