This would be an AWESOME mod... first thing, you would have to make a portal to the Rider world:
is wool, is fire, is obviously lava.
Thus it would create a white portal. You step through, and BAM. you spawn in Farthen Dur. Dwarves are milling about, the Isidar Mithrim is made out of Rosequarts, Topaz and Opal. You then find the top of the largest of the Beor Mountains and you see Eragon with Saphira. You take an egg and leave. Once you set it down, it starts to glow and it cracks. You touch it and then you have a saddle. Name it and feed it to grow it. Then set the saddle on it, fly to Ellesmere, and get Rhunon to make you a sword. Then you go to Vroenguard and join the cult of Riders. Then you go on with your ordinary Minecraft life. You can fly your dragon, make it spit fire by pressing F, and make it attack things. It can grow HUGE if you feed it enough... maybe even as big as Belgabad. That would be maybe as big as 3 NPC villages, stacked, with two blocks of air in between the buildings. Huge right.
yes that sounds like a bad description, but anyway
The build would be like the Ender dragons, but different colors. When you have Rhunon make you a sword, you have to give her one of your dragon's scales. (every 12 mc days, your dragon will drop 10 scales. you can make armor out of them.) You can also get training in magic by the Eldunari and Arya. Anyway, I think you get the pic... the egg you select will be the color of your future dragon.I will post some skins in this topic once I have made them. Yes this sound noobish, but I didn't have a lot of time.
Um Rhunon was reluctant to make Eragon a sword...what makes you think she will do it for you? And what about the promise never to make a sword again? You would have to gather that rare substance, and use magic spells....sounds like alot of work....Ok had a great idea!! What about that egg you get at the end? make it green and your set!! Hmmm maybe make regular dragons drop something to craft a portal.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Well I'm just an old fart here...like 500 years in internet time.

Rhunon already has the brightsteel, plus she has an assortment of swords (from inheritance - if you havent read it, dont worry no spoilers) She never said she would not edit a sword, did she? If you want a new one, she would "use" you like she did Eragon. She would use the spells by you. OH, and where you get the egg, thats from Inheritance, too. She likes making swords, no matter that she has to use you. So. There's your explanation.
Mk thought about it, hows this? Dragons (regular ones) drop scales. When the scale is mixed with water in a bucket it turns into a bluish substance, put it into the furnace, and it creates a blue block. Then make 4x4 portal. In each square put Obsidian (For evil in that world.), Leaf(For nature and the elves), Gold Ore(Representing the dwarves), and dirt block (representing humans).

Ahhh 2 problems with this
1)Brightsteel is incredibly rare. I mean the only piece left by the time Eragon got there, was stuck in a tree.
2)Yes swords are inherited, but remember the sword is an extension of ones-self and each sword is unique to the owner. So inheriting swords is a rare occurence and usually symbolic.
EDIT: Remember when Eragon tried someone elses sword and it just didn't feel right? Yea that lol.
Aka Read them all (Except the last one, which needs to be done so i may read it :biggrin.gif:)

Just wondering, why make a portal at all? Why not have a thing like the mod Tale of Kingdoms where it asks you if you want to start a quest. If you say yes, Farthen Dur is generated behind you. If not, then just continue on with your normal minecraft life, but maybe have more mobs. But good idea. Might I suggest adding Urgals as mobs and you can also go fight Galbatorix if you want. Oh, and Cameron16, Eragon didn't have a diamond pickaxe, and he found some Brightsteel, so maybe it would be easier for a Minecrafter. And maybe you can have a plot deviation from the book and have Rhunon's daughter or some crap like that?

Lol im not sure the author wants to break canon. But if she does then thats a possiblity! And the dwarves had pickaxes (Admittedly not diamond) and if they cant find/mine something you wont. :wink.gif: I think a good story would be something like, dwarves let elves mess with magic and they opened anither portal to another world. Another great *idea* we should make laughing men zombies because they don't feel pain (There zombies :tongue.gif:) maybe take away hit animations so you can't tell if there hurt or not! As to why they are still there, maybe roaming groups who don't know the war has ended.
EDIT: Also brightsteel was found in the ancient tree, maybe that helps.

Woah i was about to say the exact same thing.
Except maybe without asking you whether you want to start your quest. And maybe it generates a set map rather than random generation except perhaps beyond the borders of Alagaesia.
Anyway it would be fun to ride Dragons in a mod and use magic and stuff. and pwn some rival dragon riders.
You may have to break canon a bit to make the mod interesting however.
I would love to see this mod made. As for the topic of Rhunon not making swords, as stated she can change a sword to a new Rider's specifications.
She did so with Arya in Inheritance.
As to the debate of using a portal or a ToKs type start, the portal idea would probably be best for people who like a world but don't want to use the mod all the time inside it.

the tree is called the menoa tree. and why not have a thing that comes up and asks u if u want to start your adventure algasia and have a button on it that says: YES PLEASE!!! and another one that says: no thanks and if u accept ur in a forest with a bow and ur hunting a deer and then u know how the story goes
This sounds like a custom map and a mod, make an Alagasia custom map and the mod seperately. You could make brightsteel an ore rarer than diamond, and smelt it into ingots. There could be dragon saddles. You would get an egg at the begginning with a random color, the brightsteel items would always be the color of the dragon.
You can add some more things, but this needs a custom map.
This seems like a brilliant idea! I think the idea of having Rhunon make you a sword would be awesome! The idea of a portal would be nice. I think that there should be all the different types of monster in there, other dragon riders (rare spawn) and EVERYTHING! Look on the inheritance wiki, and every single item listed in there would be in this!

Lava and fire in a cloth frame? I can see where this could go wrong...
Yes well, it would have to be quick. Unless you could think of a better portal? but anyway, it sounds like a cool mod, right?

Make it sort of an RPG game mod. Fighting Urgals, the Ra'zac, Galbatorix guards etc, etc.
Actually creating a RPG game mod that follows the storyline of the Inheritance cycle sounds way too difficult.
I'd be content with an Alagasia map with the different creatures and races to fight.
