Yeah no offense, but this suggestion has a ton of holes. I have my own Time Travel Mod idea that will work without having to use up a bunch of memory and do impossible things. The link to my idea is in my signature, if you want to read it.
I like this, someone should create this mod, but if you will have your past-self, then you should be able to keep your items. If you lose your items, then you should not be able to see your Past-Self.
By the way, to inhale less memory and difficulty to code, our Past-Selves should be just a clone of ourselves that is progammed to chop nearby Trees and kill nearby Pigs, and mine nearby ores. When he haves enough materials, he will start to craft. He will then make a house in a cave, and simply live there with his resources. If you simply used TMI to get Bricks and create a house, you will see that your past-self isn't exactly spawning the bricks, so it will be more realistic if you simply chopped trees. Also, your Past-Self should spawn in the same spawn-point you did.
Guys this mod will never get mae, its too much data. I was talking with Shockah, lawhran, Risugami and a couple of other people over esper.net and they said it wont get made

You just ended thousands upon thousands upon thousands of dreams. I hope your happy.
IDEA!!!!!
After a while (before you go back in time) you start to notice things like odd structures etc etc. Then when you go back in time you must build theese structures precisly without beeing seen. If you dont you cause a paradox.
eg: You see a small dirt pyramid outside your home before it wasnt there.
You go back in time and build it.
You get hit by an arrow with no skeleton around.
You go back in time and shoot yourself.
ANOTHER IDEA!!!!!
when the past self uses a bed just make him lie there until morning.
If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.

I ended my own dream aswell.
But it could be put into a different concept. maybe just record the chunk you are in only?
This will probably be very hard to make, and will inhale so much memory, so instead of storing everything we made, our past-selves should just be progammed to chop down trees and craft stuff, and then mine a small cave, seal its entrance with stone(he should probably use some cobblestone to create a furnace then smelt the cobble to turn back to stone) and put a door in it, then place all the stuff he crafted inside. Then on the next day, he should get some Cobblestone and build his very first house and move his stuff to there. Then, on the Third Day, he should hunt for Clay all the day, and spent all the night smelting it to become a Clay Brick. On the Fourth Day, he should auto-replace the Cobblestone with Brick Blocks(much like how the Villagers upgrade their buildings in Millénaire), and spent the rest of his life in there. The only thing that the mod would store is the days you spent in Minecraft until you went back in time. Then, if you spent 7 Minecraft Days, after your Past-Self spent all of his 6 Days, he should go mining for Diamonds. On the Seventh Day, he should have his Time Travel Device, and then Disappear. Then, the Paradox-O-Meter should be reset to Zero, and if you traveled back to time, there should be your Past Self watching his own Past-Self from a safe distance. Maybe, if possible, it should store what Paradoxes you made. So, if you showed up to your Past-Self, he should show up to his own Past-Self too. Maybe this will make things more easier. However, if you started a new world, and simply spawned the Time Travel Device with SinglePlayerCommands or TooManyItems or anything else such as INVEdit, your Past-Self shouldn't be there. He should be traveled right when you arrived in your "past".

Ton of holes? I think I pretty much covered everything, and things I didn't cover were explained in posts. apart from the possible memory issue this suggestion is fairly water tight. I will reply to your suggestion on your topic.

Well there is a herobrine mod that can make herobrine follow buiding schematics that you have made. This can be that same thing but replace Herobrine with your past self and building blueprints with with structures in the present and simply make your past self make them in chronological order.
and yes, your past self will spawn at the same place you did.

The idea does look impossible at first (even to me) but there are ways to reduce the strain of it. They need to really consider it before writing it off as impossible.

Nice ideas. could be interesting but may be a little complicated, especially shooting yourself.
As for the bed thing, that was what i was planning on doing when he went in bed. and if you go to bed and your past self doesn't it will still fast forward to morning and everything your past self did during the night will be done.

Once again, if your past-self has some programmed in schematics of a house he has to build, why not make it a house that you have built in the present?
If the memory thing really is way to big of an obstacle then I suppose you could do something like this, but it just wouldn't be the same.

Yeah, that's what i thought, too. This will inhale so much memory. So, this mod will only become good for strong computers. Here's an idea: There should be 2 versions: RIP version and FULL version. RIP Version is the same thing i gave the idea. The FULL Version requires a computer with large memory and very strong, so it is capable of storing all of these stuff. My computer probably won't handle the FULL Version, as even with the VANILLA Minecraft im lagging due to lack of space in my PC!

Yeah, i guess two versions isn't such a bad idea.
Even if computers can't handle the strain now, this will be a piece of cake in the future when computers have 1000 terabytes of memory. :smile.gif:
Thanks :biggrin.gif:
And even if this mod is impossible to make, it seems i have given the rest of the community ideas of their own about time travel, which is a good thing :smile.gif:
I've been thinking about the how we should be able to get to the future and I've come up with the following.
When you get up to the point when your past self activates the TSD and goes back to the past himself/herself, along with your TSD becoming reactivated and such, a "mysterious block" appears where your past self was standing. The block can be broken and moved around, if you so wish, but otherwise doesn't seem to do anything.
However when you use your reactivated TSD on it, you will be temporally shifted into... THE FUTURE!
still not sure about what will happen in the future but I think I like this method of getting there as it requires you to travel back in time, before you can travel forward in time.
I have no idea if this is possible, but this is bloody brilliant. Basically, this mod makes you become Herobrine to an extent, which is badass. But the whole paradox thing, brilliant! Add more stuff to the mod potentially, like the ability to correspond with your past self after he's gone back in time (because he'll understand you) and this would be the greatest endgame part 2 Minecraft thing ever.

yeah you could be Herobrine if you wanted :tongue.gif: . probably cause paradoxes though.
I like your idea, but even if your past self knew what was going on it would still cause a paradox because when you were your past self you didn't have your future self come up and talk to you since the mod can't tell what your going to do in the future.
This would take up an enormous amount of memory, it would have to store EVERYTHING that you've ever done.
...but what if you go back in time to stop yourself from going back in time?

how about if your past self sees somthing you changed, you transport back to that moment and...
thats all i hav but i think it would be pretty cool.
's for you:D
