that's the problem, i don't think it could. it is a good idea though, but the amount of data it would have to save in order to work would be extremely high, also it would need to be on a new save. :/
I agree, the idea is interesting, but it would be nearly impossible to code.
Have you ever been stranded halfway across your world far away from the comfort of your home and just say, "Well shucks darn, I wish I had my T.A.R.D.I.S with me."
Well, now the time has come to tap into your inner Time Lord and become 908 year old man we know as, THE DOCTOR. Grab your trusty sonic screwdriver, give K-9 the tin robot dog a polish, and travel back in time to the age of the Silurians using "Sexy" herself, The T.A.R.D.I.S. But be careful, there are forces out there that are hell bent on destroying the universe as well as yourself if you stand in their way. Watch out for the genocidal Daleks, the emotionless Cybermen, and the fearsome Weeping Angels, among many more fearsome and terrifying creatures. You will also encounter things never before seen in the world of Minecraft. The adventure is coming, are you ready?

I may not be a modder but it seems like you are over thinking this, tracking the player (to me anyway) looks like saving your cords and facing every second or two. Its checking it anyway isn't it? if you hit F3 you get your cords in real time. Tracking what blocks are placed/removed seems simple enough as well. All you need is 4 values x y z of the block and what you are putting there. (replace with air to remove a block) Tracking nearby mobs might be harder but don't they have to check they're cords too? (for when you save) I might be wrong (probably am :laugh.gif: ) but it looks as simple as saving the info that's already there. As for memory you can fill a basic text file with thousands of words and it comes to much less then 1 megabyte.
So to sum up on what I said that is probably wrong :biggrin.gif: Impossible? no. Hard? perhaps. (depends on what you think of as hard) Long to do? most likely. And btw AWESOME :ohmy.gif: IDEA!!!
EDIT: I'm going to start learning how to mod minecraft and try to make this, I have a lot to learn but I've modded a few other games so hopefully this won't be too hard :biggrin.gif:
Wow! +1 to this :biggrin.gif:
Why not make a parallel dimension transporter, where paradoxes wont happen, and you can freely interact with the world, it should be built (not crafted) by Making a 3X3X1 base of obsidian, A layer of gold blocks 3X3X1 over that, and then you place some special block in the centre. The special block could be the time watch crafted with a stone block?

O.O minecraft is the most unmoddable game i have ever seen... Starting out simple and make the TSD item (it won't bring you back in time but you could hold it)
how about instead of turning all purple and stuff a paradox will force the world into an arid badlands-like setting, turning all dirt\grass into sand and stone into sandstone, and all ore gets turned to coal, and your house gets turned into a small oasis, with only a few trees
I want this mod. The only thing is, it would take too much space. Maybe if the paradox thing diddn't happen, it would just be a glitch that would happen. This will be very glitchy, but if it gets enough attention, I will be so happy!!!!!
Hey, I thought I'd give recording movements a try, after 15 mins of searching i found a way to see the player movements in every tick, now i just have to paste them into a file. I was thinking putting down the x,y,z coordinates and then a number indicating how many ticks the player spent in that position.
If I can find someone who can make NPCs (I can't... yet.), and make the NPC follow the directions indicated, we could probably do this. And quite quickly, too. If anyone knows how to make NPCs and is interested in this, please contact me via PM since i don't check this topic all that often.

-a simple "tank you" means a lot more than you might think...
A mod similar to this is currently being made, you should check it out here. It doesn't have some of the ideas you have suggested, but it will have the basic go back into time, see yourself, go to the future type of stuff. You can even show the creator some of your suggestions, he may use them.
I agree, the idea is interesting, but it would be nearly impossible to code.

Make something that allows you to go into the future - where all of your buildings are wrecked and the world is slowly being destroyed

hi
I already suggested that!
