If you meet ANY of these qualifications, I'd really like to work with you:
[*:208kuded]Want to learn to mod.
[*:208kuded]Don't care that you won't be paid (Most important part)
[*:208kuded]Started modding recently.
[*:208kuded]Know some java.
[*:208kuded]Know modding.
[*:208kuded]Want to help a rookie.
[*:208kuded]Have any good ideas.
[*:208kuded]You're Notch.
As said before, If ANY of these are you I want to work with you. Modding is a difficult process and especially if the mod is a large one. I've made the Hidden TNT mod (found here) and I want to make something bigger and better. I don't have that many ideas, and the ideas I have are hard as balls to do. That's why I want other people. I want more people doing work so it gets done, and I want more ideas to make more mods reality.
I appreciate that you've taken the time to read this much of probably the most useless post here.
If you want to do this, please PM me. I may not respond right away, but I guarantee I will.
If you want, you can just post here.
I'm willing to work all summer on this, if anyone is willing to join me.
I don't have that much experience modding, but again, that's why I want the help, and even if you have no experience, I'd be willing to teach what I know, because it can be hard to start off.
Hello! I am interested in working with you. I have recently started modding. So far all I have made is my coffee mod. It creates Coffee Stalks which generate like reeds and drop coffee beans. You can then craft coffee with the recepie:
XBX
XBX
XWX
B= Coffee Bean
W= Water Bucket
Right now, the mod isn't published but if you want to see it email me at [email protected] or pm me
I'm currently a beginner in Java, but I've learned a lot and am Asking Questions to a bunch of modders, and have gathered even more knowledge from there
I haven't modded anything yet, but I understand how to do so (Base Items, Blocks, Entities, Renders, etc.)
My Modding Project that I think I'm starting soon would be Aesthetic Blocks, which would be a Block Pack, it would add Different Coloured Bricks, Hay Bales and Other Different Coloured Blocks
Of Course I'd be using ModLoader
I'm also very new to ModLoader Techniques, but I'm studying it, simply because I don't want to change the .png file everytime I want to add a new Item, but I love (almost) everything else of the Vanilla Minecraft Coding Style
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I might work with you, but I would like to know, what are your specialties? since if we both specialize in the same thing, some parts of our work may never get done
I can simply tell you, I have no idea how Mob Modelling Works, and I don't think I'll find out soon, everything else with mobs are Below Par (I think) but that could change
I also don't understand how you choose a texture for each side of a Block, if you could please tell me how, that would be great

I honestly didnt expect this many responses already but awesome. I've stared at the world gens a lot, so i can pretty much add anything to the gens, I'm **** with the textures, I'm fairly new to modloader, but i've found some great tutorials, and i've asked a couple coders for permission to use some of their code, mainly to make a preferences file and to extend the EnumToolMaterial class. As far as mobs go, I'm pretty sure i could implement one. I've looked at the code for modeling them and I think i understand how it works, but the animations I need to look into more. I know how to spawn them in the world though, so animation code could pretty much be copied and modified.
recipes, blocks (including texturing individual sides), world gens
that's essentially what I can do, but I do need a lot more help and experience in each.
I'm also planning on posting an in-depth beginners' tutorial on what I know. When I mod or code something I like to know the details of what it does, and so it would probably be the most detailed tutorial out there, but then again it might not.
I looked at the Ghast Code and at The Zombie code, and I'm fairly Confident I could make some sort of "Flying EyeBall" but I need to understand the modelling...ugh
Oh and for the Art, goto the People in my signature, they do amazing artwork
Oh and I would love help with WorldGens, That is actually some expertise I have been looking for, maybe we can work together

I would LOVE to learn how to mod! If you can teach me the basics or direct me somewhere I can learn, I'll be willing to help you!
Edit: I also have a lot of ideas if you need any! And I don't need money for modding (if I manage to learn it, that is). Should I start looking at some java-programming?
I meant more along the lines of I can add something to be generated, but I can't create a new generator, those are very complex and the variables are indecipherable. What the hell does k12 do? What I meant was that if you had a new type of stone or something i could probably get it to generate where you wanted it, like how sandstone is between sand and stone.
@ Nath99
As far as I can tell, the modeling is just defining where boxes are and where the "center" of each one is.
@ Zornarka
I had no knowledge of java when I started modding, but it does help to knowledge of at least the basics of programming. get familiar with functions and data types and then you should be ready to start.
Making progress on the java-side... just learned how to make a .class.file out of a .java-file (and also what a .class-file is) and it only took me 15 minutes... progress!
Also I have a tiny bit of experience with Python (I can make text-based stuff using user-input)
This is really exciting since I now might be learning what I want to work with when I finish school!
That's awesome, but unfortunately, entirely unnecessary. If you want to do java work in the future its good to know, but for this work we're going to be setting up MCP with ModLoader.
MCP has things that create the .jar on its own and figures out which files you've added and changed.
I recommend ziddia's modloader tutorials as a good start and then exploring the Block.java file for more information.
The fact that you have some knowledge of python is enough for you to start doing work here.
With a little work you'll understand it much better than I do.
If you want to do this, PM me. In a week or two we will begin discussing what we're going to do. Someone should take initiative in the mean time and find a way for us all to comunicate and share files. We need a way to do this for free and across the world, because I've had 1 or 2 people contact me from Europe. If someone figures this out, everyone that PMs me about wanting to do this will recieve the message forwarded to them. After that we start working. If there's questions, PM me. If you have ideas, PM me. If you want to complain, PM me. If there's anything else, PM me.
You should also check out the only mod I've made so far and tell me what you think.
There's a link in my signature. Seriously, I actually like reading all those comments.
That or we find someone who actually understands mobs and entity modelling, lol
And did I ever say I was teaming up with you? I mean, not to be disrespectful in the slightest, but I have a lot on my plate as Is (So Many Ideas) and I'm confident I could do most of them myself (Exception Mobs)
I might help you with tips and such, but I don't want to do something like this (Huge Team Mod Effort Sort Of Thing)
I might call on you from time to time, but I don't want to be in something like this (It's complicated)
P.S. If I find a mob modeller, I'll call you up, and everyone else, lol, They are in desperate Need These Days

Hey! You must have been sent from Notch himself! lol, I have been having way too many ideas for mods, and can't mod! I want to learn more then anything, I don't care for any money, just the credit for what I do! A donation now and again would be nice, but this is also like a free lesson and team I can join! If you'd take the time to read my post MineCraft Mining Oxygen, I'd be very happy! =D I have way more mod ideas, and an urge to start modding! Thanks!

Time is Diamonds, and I got none to spare! Unless you have redstone of course!
I completely understand. And as far as a mob modeller goes, there is one and it does animation and textures also. I can't remember what i was but i remember seeing it, but its windows only so I couldn't use it on my mac. I'm not sure if it has all the functionality you need to make mobs how you want them, but its a start at least.
@ AndySwi
I've read that post before, and it sounded interesting, but it seams too complicated for a group effort because too many things rely on EVERYTHING.
Oxygen based on different heights might be accomplished by a single modder in a few days maybe a week or two tops. Then you can maybe do that if your within x number of blocks of a fan you have x amount of oxygen. A single modder could do fairly easily, but a group would overcomplicate it to point that it stops working.
As a matter of fact, I think i'm only going to say that in the group i'm forming, there will be one to three people per project, but we post them all on one collaborative post.

Turbo Modeller, Techne and another one that I've tried but said "wtf, how does this work...screw it"

Yeah, a lot of them do that to you... But the one I found was fairly easy to use. I still can't find it, but it installed the code through MCP by itself
I don't know really anything about modding but I do make sprites an come up with pretty descent ideas.
I came up with the ballistic knife mod and blast suit made by PROWNE and I did the art for those mods and the realisticraft mod also by PROWNE. PROWNE's mods
