I had this idea when I found the mod which makes it so minecraft doesn't reupdate it's sound files when you change them and hence made one of my records theme.
It made me think, what if minecraft had co-powers or "player specific specialities" like advance wars does, hence, spawned this idea when I thought of making mini-fake co powers by using inv-edit to do stuff (lol).
The Idea of Mine-Powers:
upon starting the game a GUI automatically pops up and lets you choose your style/speciality. Whatever specialty you choose will alter an aspect of things you can carry out, such as crafting, mining, chopping, fighting, exploring etc, you'll also gain access to a Mine-power and a Super Mine-Power, hence the name of the mod idea which you can activate via a button press when you charge up your Power gauge to a predetermined amount which depends on the character.
This could be represented as a GUI change, or a percentage shown in the top right of the screen which charges over time or as you do special things, those mainly as your specialty or by converting objects into energy (which also depends on the specialty type) to transfer to your power gauge. Once you start you can't change your mine-power so you must choose wisely and thoughtfully on how you want to play or how you enjoy playing, or what can help you in your endeavours.
the percentage is calculated in a set number of "blips" or "points" for simplicity. ( :tongue.gif: ) like mentioned blips are gained as they do the thing they're good at, or by sacrificing things based on what they're good at, or just slowly over time (very slowly, like if the average blips is 1000, you'd get about 100 in a minecraft day amount of time). Hence the blip gain, and the blip charge type stats for each I'll be listing. it is worthy of note that an SMP (super mine power) is multiple times stronger than a normal MP in most cases.
Upon activation some epic music should play upon activation. The blips will no-longer charge while a power is active, but once fully used the power will end and blips reset. If death occurs at anytime while the blips are still being charged, or death occurs while the power is active it is also deactivated and blips decreases to zero. All MPs last for about the duration of time the sun is up for unless stated as a charged or different time.
The Specialties I've thought of now: Miner
The basic of specialties. He benefits from x1.5 pick-axe and shovel durability. Blip size: 1000 Blip sacrifice: Wooden pick-axe (30), stone pick-axe (60),gold (150), Iron pick-axe (300), diamond (500) and yes the picks can be half used. Blip Charge: Mining materials: Coal (10), Iron (30), gold (60), Redstone (90), diamond (120). MP: Power Pick! Enables the miner to tear through stone and dirt faster than usual. Lasts for the duration of a minecraft day (not including night, just the "day") and halfs the time it takes to mine stone (and cobble) with any given pick-axe, and also halfs the time of dirt done with a shovel getting the job done faster. Super MP: Pierce the planet: Instantly restores the durability to the miners held pick or shovel (gotta be holding it) and allows the miner to tear through stone and dirt as if it was butter. Mines stones and dirt instantly. Speed of mining materials is also doubled.
LumberJack
A power which specializes in the use of an axe to gather lumber and also in attacking. Has the benefit of x2 durability on axes due to perfected woodchopping technique and training. Blip Size: 1000
Blip Sacrifice: woodplanks (10) Wooden tools of any type (40), logs (40 also) charcoal (50, cause it's made using wood) Blip charge: Creating axes (20/40/80/160/400 (wood, stone, iron, gold, diamond) chopping lumber (20 per block), fully growing a sapling (60) attacking an mob with an axe (20 per hit). MP: Lumber-party: Halfs the time required to hack planks and logs, and allows the axe to smash leaves instantly without durability lose for the duration. SMP: Deforestation: makes the lumberjacks current axe invulnerable to durability lose, then halfs the time required to break wood objects, allows smashing of leaves instantly, and causes saplings planted to grow instantly once left for a certain distance (if they have space) to allow super fast wood-gain.
Farmer
specializes in creating crops and sustaining life around him. Has the benefit that saplings and crops planted grow twice as fast. Blip size: 1250 Blip Sacrifice: seeds (20), hoes (20/40/80/160/400), saplings (30) Blip charge: planting seeds (10), harvesting fully grown crops (50), making bread (50), fully growing saplings (40). MP: Farmers charm: Gives the farmer a stack of bonemeal to harvest his crops. Also restores durability to all hoes in the quick bar. SMP: Green-thumb: instead of giving bonemeal allows the farmer to simply right click crops or saplings with a hoe to instant grow them.
Ranger
Character who enjoys using a bow to fight enemies. Has the 3 damage a shot. They can also use cobblestone as an arrow head aswell as flints to create arrows. Blip size: 1500 Blip Sacrifice: Bow (100), arrows (10) Blip Charge: firing and hitting a mob with an arrow (20), Crafting an bow (50), Crafting arrows (20/40 cobble, flint) MP: True Aim: Increases the speed and hence range and max distance of the rangers arrows allowing better shooting. Also creates a spare stack of arrows in the rangers quick bar if theres space. SMP: Snipe: gives the rangers arrows a magical flight. Arrows fired travel straight until they hit something, and theres a one in 4 chance that said arrow on hit with a mob will deal instant kill (BOOM, HEADSHOT!), also gives a spare stack of arrows to the quick bar.
Runner
Character who is always on the move, either exploring or traveling from place to place. The runner benefits from only taking 1 less from fall damage (if it will hurt 1 or more) and a fast charging power (small gauge, and also 150 from natural gain). Blip size: 750 blip sacrifice: boots (30/60/120/300 (leather, iron, gold diamond)). Blip charge: moving (1 per constant second of movement) MP: Dash: Increases the runners movement speed to 1.5x and jump height to 2 blocks instead of 1. SMP: Cross-country! increase the runners movement speed to x2 and jump height to 3, increases the fall needed for damage to 8 (instead of 4) and further more they also only take half of it if wearing any type of boots armor.
Crafter
Character who enjoys crafting and creating things. They don't have a natural bonus. Blip size: 1000 Blip sacrifice: crafting bench (50), furnace (80).
Blip charge: Any crafting recipe used and created (5). MP: Careful Crafting: Gives the crafter 5 charges, in which any object they craft is doubled in yield other than material blocks (to and from, so you can't spam to get diamonds or iron) and tools. While this power is executed they can also craft ores to their respective ingots without using a furnace by using half a charge. SMP: Overtime: Gives the crafter 15 charges in which any object they craft is doubled in yield other than material blocks (to and from, so you can't spam to get diamonds or iron) and tools. While this power is executed they can also craft ores to their respective ingots without using a furnace by using half a charge.
Well, I'll just leave this for now to see if anyone is interested in seeing more, and i hope this is accepted by someone. ^^b <- (thumbs up)
(and yes I did think of "fighter" and "destroyer", but I'm gonna wait for feedback first)

excellent. so I've got someone backing me. :biggrin.gif: thanks.
there's also gonna be "destroyer" and "survivor" also as ideas which I think now that i know atleast someone likes I will do now.
Destroyer
A speciality which emphasizes the use of explosives, mainly for those who like mining with TNT.they love TNT and because they make so much of it, their creation technique is better so they get more TNT per make (2 instead of 1) and can make "quick TNT" which uses the 2x2 crafting grid to create 1 TNT like this:
Blip size: 1500 Blip sacrifice: raw gunpowder (20), TNT (50 a piece) Blip Charge: detonating TNT (50 a piece), killing creepers (40, must be killed by the player and not by falls or a trap). MP: A very nice boom: Upon activation it causes TNT to not fully destroy blocks, ores and items allowing TNT mining for a while and blow up by 1 more radius. Super MP: Planet buster: Upon activation TNT yield is doubled (4 from normal, 2 from quick). It also increases explosion radius by 2, and makes it not blow up ores, items and blocks. The Player also becomes immune to all forms of explosions. GO NUTS!
Survivor
Specializes in keeping his HP high and staying alive obviously. The survivor regains 1 more HP from healing items. Blip size: 1250 Blip sacrifice: Raw pork or fish (20), cooked pork or fish (40), bread (30) mushroom soup (80, takes the bowl) Blip Charge: Healing (5 per health healed, only if it was healed, not if you just binge eat). MP: Still alive: Increases the heals acquired by x1.5 (not including the +1 heal) and also causes them to get a passive healing equal to half the speed of the peaceful healing. Super MP: Survival of the strongest! Immediately restores HP to full, then during the duration it also increases healing by x2 and gives passive healing like peaceful setting.
Fighter
A character who enjoys a good old fashion brawl. He deals +1 damage with all tools, including his barehands. Blip size: 1250 Blip sacrifice: sword (25/50/100/300/500) Blip Charge: Dealing damage (10 per heart of damage) MP: Knuckle-duster: increases damage dealt by a further +1 on all tools and makes he himself take 1 less damage. Super MP: Can of woop-ass Restores armor by half it's durability and HP by 4, and then increases damage dealt by 2 more and takes 1 less damage.

excellent. and uh, sort of like the fighter, but ok then, heres my shot at it then.
Babarian
A fighter sort of class who benefits mainly from the sword and powerful swings. As a barbarian you deal +2 damage with a sword (sword only), and kills have a slightly higher drop rate. Blip size: 1500 Blip sacrifice: Sword (30/50/100/300/500) Blip Charge:Dealing damage or breaking blocks with a sword (10 a hit (regardless of damage) and 5 per block broken with sword. MP: Brute Force: Increases the babarians already impressive attack power by x1.5 after including the +2 (meaning 2+2 bonus will turn into 6). Also allows the sword to smash wood and dirt like a axe or shovel of that type respectively. Also restores the current swords durability by half. Super MP: Barbaric Blow: doubles the barbarians impressive attack power on top of the +2 and allows the sword on top of smashing wood and dirt, to now smash Stone and gather ores (provided his sword is good enough) with his massive strength. Restores the current durability to full.
strength makes things universal for a while. Stuck in a cave without a pick but got a diamond sword? smash your way our with barbaric blow. XD and you can kinda use a "second sword" if you have the dual wielding mod that's out. so instead it'll just restore the current swords durability.
It made me think, what if minecraft had co-powers or "player specific specialities" like advance wars does, hence, spawned this idea when I thought of making mini-fake co powers by using inv-edit to do stuff (lol).
