Being a mod developer I have been affected by this quite a lot lately and I wanted to bring up a notable problem that seems to be overlooked but equally as relevant to this thread.
I've noticed a large number of YouTube channels showing up advertising these third party sites by reposting other peoples legitimate reviews of mods and renaming the titles to say it's compatible with versions that they are clearly not (this also drags in users who are looking for updates). Not only that but the download links are also replaced to their own sites and some even monetise the videos to make money off them.
I believe a list of these YouTube channels should also be kept and reported on just as much as the sites who are distributing them are.
In the description, please do not use *malicious site* for the mod download(s). It takes away downloads and money from the original mod creator. Please link to the original creator's minecraft forum thread. Sites like *malicious site* redistribute mods illegally, and sometimes bundle mods with malware. To learn more about this situation and why you should change the links in your description and view a list of sites you should avoid using, visit stopmodreposts.org.
In response to youtubers using bad links, I made this template to use in the comments section.
Its a shame, there such nice looking sites too : /
why cant they just offer honest reviews and link back to the orginal authors website?
or if anything, so they can earn some income for writeing the review.. perhaps adfly the link that GOES TO the mod makers website or forum page.
basiclly, a re-direct.
I enjoy writeing reviews on mods, maps, servers and plugins. I dont use adfly unless its the adfly from the mod or map maker.
and i always provide the orginal LINK or website and Author at the top of the page so everyone is very clear where to go for updated information.
All i personally offer is a decent reveiw and a youtube video for the mod. and also any known bugs and issues.
I just dont understand why more websites cant offer the same service? why do they have to blatanlty steal someone elses work and leave the person who downloaded the mod clueless as to where to go to get updated information about the mod?

Because they are the true scum of the world. They have no talent, or ability of any kind, so they steal the work of others, so that they can try to atone for the fact that they are miserable failures, who are too lazy to get real jobs, and must resort to thievery to get by. It's a real shame
He has 165 subs. Something doesn't seem right...
The site www.minecraft-downloads.com is not being blocked by the filter. Please fix this ASAP because it installed malware onto my PC.
This channel OBVIOUSLY steals other peoples videos too. I looked at a few for proof, and there were completely different styles, languages, voices, etc. Obviously pointing to him/her taking random minecraft videos and putting them on their own channel. That IS stealing!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
The olddays mod is dead, sorry to tell you.
The far lands generation was epic, why not re-add it?
If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would
go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them,
copy & paste this into your signature and hope it happens.
PS: A lot of these channels can be found by searching for things like "1.8.2 mod download" (Forge does not have a 1.8.2 version to even develop mods for which is BIG red flag for these channels)
If you are a mod author or reviewer, and a video you made and posted to YouTube has been re-uploaded in part or in whole by another user - listen:
All these videos are hosted on YouTube. YouTube is really strict about reuploads and stealing others' work. And reporting illegal videos is really easy too. Here's a step by step guide, but please note you can only do this if it contains content you hold the copyright to.
Select Copyright Infringement from the list, then "I am!" when asked whose rights are being infringed. (Important: You must own the part of the works you are complaining about, or you will be banned from YouTube for abuse. E.g. if you are complaining about a video reupload, you must own the rights to the original, if you complain about software, you must own the software in question.)
Enter the full YouTube URL under "URL of allegedly infringing video to be removed".
In the Describe your works menu, select how the linked video is infringing on your rights. Commonly, this will be "My YouTube video was reuploaded by another user" if the video is a reupload. (It is possible to submit complaints to YouTube if the video links to illegal downloads of your software (i.e. your mod), if that's the case then select "My software" instead and fill in the details - I have not tried this method, though, so I cannot be sure if this is advisable.)
Enter the details about the original work which is being stolen.
If you are reporting several videos (yes, you can report several videos at once, even by different uploaders!), click "Add another video" and return to step 3. AFAIK, you can add as many videos as you like.
You need to tell YouTube about yourself. The Copyright Owner Name is displayed to users who try to access your video after it has been removed. (See this video which I took down, where I entered bilde2910 as Copyright Owner Name, as an example.)
Enter your full name when asked for it - this must be your full legal name, no initials, nicknames or pseudonyms.
Authority to make this complaint. Explain how and why you have rights to take down the content. (I wrote "I am the original creator, uploader and owner of the listed creative works." and it was accepted.)
Enter your phone number with country code (if you're in the U.S. or Canada, country code is +1. If you live elsewhere and don't already know your country code, look it up on this Wikipedia article. Fax number is not required, but if you have one and want to list it, you must use the country code here as well.
Fill in your postal address.
Read through the checkboxes at the bottom of the page and check them. You must agree to and check all of them to make a complaint.
Finally, hit Submit Complaint.
It only takes three copyright complaints about video reuploads to one account before the entire account is deleted with all videos, and the owner is permanently banned from making new YouTube accounts. If you submit a complaint, you only need to get two others to do the same for their own videos, and the owner of the infringing account can say goodbye to YouTube forever.
I AM NOT YOUR PERSONAL MINECRAFT MOD SUPPORT AGENT, SO PLEASE DO NOT PM ME ABOUT PROBLEMATIC MODS THAT ARE NOT MINE. If you're having trouble/crashes with a mod, you'll have better luck resolving it in this forum section than PMing me. If you already made a topic, be patient about responses. If you have troubles with anything non-Minecraft related on your PC, I might be able to help, though, but no promises. Even though I could wish to be, I'm not a wizard.

Many thanks for this and the clarity of explanation.
t'would be mighty useful to be able to refer to it in the future. Would there be any room in the OP for a link?

I'm also flagging all the channels as I find them.
