I would assume it's because there is quite a bit of malware for Linux that affect user-based things like your home folder, external media, desktop, permissions, etc. There are also a few system files that don't require root access to be modified or tampered with.

Why are people fighting for the websites that are reposting?
there is no point supporting the bad websites (unless if you were the owner)
That's what I don't understand about people..... Also, unless the mod is in the same place as the dirtbike mod is, I see no reason whatsoever to use them, even if they're "easier to use".

They're known to host mod installers, yes. Doesn't make it right if the mod authors have issues with said installers, but malware? Are you sure your friend didn't get it from somewhere else? (e.g. adf.ly)

Remember way back when skydaz sorted this out with us back in early 2015. He said he asks permission for him to put mods on the site and also the modder's adfly. The only reason hr has ads is to pay for the website just like minecraftforum.net. Plus I downloaded mods from there with the installer and NO MALWARE! He also says the mods are not his and they are the modders and that they will ALWAYS link to the official post.
Adfy gives viruses to people who are unaware.
Some mod-developes, like Sph4x and ChickenBones use adfly themselves.
9minecraft simply links these adfly pages.
Ones for Eternal frost use Adfly to & possibly more use it
someone needs to shut down adfly & all other malware sites
9minecraftnet is mostly stealing minecraft content

I have found a couple of sites that had one of my mods listed, and renamed to something else (On the site). Who ever owns these sites must be desperate to try and actually take away credit from us who create mods to this extent.

File-Minecraft.com has Malware. Needs to be updated. I downloaded 7 things from there, and then got 7 trojans on my PC when I first started modding.
