Sorry about people bashing liteloader lately, your awesome mod is really appreciated, the only downside I found with liteloader is with MultiMC it seems that if I choose fullscreen mode, the game screen doesn't load in real fullscreen mode at startup and I have to hit F11 twice to get the real fullscreen mode, but its a minor annoyance I'm ready to live with. Your map will always stay my favorite, once you use it, you can't go back to anything else anymore.
those who think liteloader and forge are like Windows and OS X, who wouldn't know what the voxelbox was even it was.. ((finish that sentence in a broad Australian accent for added effect))
those who actually remember what Minecraft was like before creative mode and worked to make it what it is today
spectators like me who just pretend to know stuff and can't understand why the thread hasn't been locked

Aww shucks, at least I have a JAR already downloaded for 1.7.10. I can use that for backup. Anyway, how hard is it to just leave the mod up? You don't have to update it but at least leave it there instead of erasing all traces!
The author posted a link to a new version of Zan's a little earlier in this topic, search for it, its not gone, he just decided he didn't want to stay on planetminecraft and doesn't know yet where he's going to put his mod, but there's a link to the latest 1.7.10 version somewhere in this thread.

Forge can't load LiteLoader mods, there's no Forge version of Zan's posted for 1.7.10 anywhere in the thread. Thankfully I have the incomplete one that was listed shortly before Zan got removed from all official sources, but it's got a few missing things since it wasn't fully upgraded yet.
Anyway, I'm not going to beg for Zan's to be updated, just seeking out a replacement. Rei's and Zan's were the only ones worth a spit, and Zan's performed better and had nicer display. Just sad to see it go is all.

Forge and Liteloader do not conflict and can be installed alongside each other quite easily.

The whole reason for using Forge is to not have the stupidity of manually modifying jar files. And I'm sorry, but I'm not going to add LiteLoader for a single mod, it's just not worth the hassle. If there's no other Forge minimaps of Zan's quality, then there's just no other Forge minimaps of Zan's quality, and I'm ok with that answer, I was just looking for other options.

You don't have to open any jar to install liteloader, in fact the rules of Mojang doesn't allow anyone the right to mess around with their .jar file, it is illegal to modify the main minecraft.jar file

this is how I know you aren't familiar with liteloader at all

Exactly like I've said, some people don't even read about it, they just assume it means they have to mess around with .jar files which is now against the Mojang Eula so no mods can mess around with the minecraft.jar anymore. There's a nice liteloader installer integrated into MultiMC5.

Where did you get that info? If Mojang doesn't allow the modification of their jars now, then that will pretty much kill every last mod since they require forge, or a mod loader which adds classes to the minecraft.jar.
For forge users Journey map is pretty amazing. It has everything Zan's does, also includes a world map that is scrollable, mob tracking with directional facing and has the added benefit of not requiring a 2nd mod loader. Yeah you can drop the liteloader.jar in the mod folder along with voxelmaps, but it's not worth it unless you plan to use liteloader for other mods.

Forge and all the mods don't do anything with the minecraft.jar since version 1.7 of Minecraft actually, it caused a massive headache to the Optifine and Forge team cause they needed to modify the jar file to work with previous versions of Minecraft before 1.7 it was still illegal to my understanding but tolerated by Mojang at the time, but now I think they use a library kind of system, I don't know anything about programming so I could be wrong, but I know they got around the direct .jar modification and now everything use another system. Its explained somewhere but I can't retrace where I've got the infos, I think its in the official and huge thread about Optifine actually.

This is completely false, as forge, liteloader and optifine would have ceased to exist when the new launcher came out. Any vanilla minecraft.jar can be edited on your computer. Minecraft will revert those changes though, as the new launcher keeps vanilla versions clean by checking to make sure no alterations have been made and restoreing the .jar if it finds any. Now the way forge and liteloader work is they create a new version folder containing a modified minecraft.jar and json, hence the profiles. THe EULA as of the 1.8 update has no explicit disallowance against modifying minecraft.jar. You will just have to create a json file for the launcher to recognize the .jar. And any mod you make, can not have caps for real life money, and content can not be restricted by a pay to play system. Only cosmetic items, such as Mithions cloaks, or RWtema's sword, can be used to gain money for a mod, aside from donations, and patreon.
If you want to use voxel maps with forge, all you have to do is get liteloader.jar and the voxelmap mod, and drop them in the mods folder. Forge will load liteloader, and liteloader will then load voxelmaps. This is what i recommend for anyone wanting to use voxelmaps, since it allows you to remove lightloader with relative ease, in case you have conflicts with other mods.

This is really frustrating. I understand the reasons for the mod being removed from PMC but it is a real shame. I use liteloader and it is really handy but i can't use it for my modpack. It is possible to install liteloader on my ATLauncher version but i tried and failed and supposedly it is possible to do it on Technic Launcher but i tried and failed. I thought ok i will use Journey Map, but the creator doesn't give modpack perms out. I really do hope that ther is a 1.7.10 forge version of zans one day.

I cant speak for ATLauncher, but with the Technic Launcher, as long as you set up the folders properly, you can typically just put liteloader in the mods folder along with any other liteloader mods you are using.

That's interesting. I don't think I've ever publicly addressed why I left PMC (and I don't really intend to). I will say why I've stayed away though: it's been a massive relief not to deal with the public anymore. Anyway, there's a Forge version for 1.7.10 if you want it, though it does not include the cavemap or radar due to not having a good method for enforcing client permissions - http://www.mediafire.com/download/bgpnzdbw7s0p5y8/zanMapNoRadar1.7.10a.zip
From what I can tell, that hasnt been upgraded to 1.7.2/1.7.10 yet. Hopefully it will someday.
Sedridor has done just that, though he's too modest to mention it here
Where can a version for 1.7.10 be found? As others have pointed out, there doesn't appear to be one.
So with Rei's unmaintained and Zan's gone, there's no more decent Forge minimaps :\ (JourneyMap and MapWriter are jokes on their best days)

Is this not related to your issue?
