Hiyas, I'm looking for a minimap mod. Rei's old minimap was perfect, anyone know if it's still around? Also, bonus points if you can tell me if the Timber! mod was kept updated... It chopped an entire tree down by cutting the bottom block out. =/
Cheers to any contributers, I've looked all over and can't find either. D:
Edit: Also looking for a recipe book, couldn't find that as well... Will look again for all of them though.
2. Voxelmap for Liteloader is the only 1.7.10 out right now. If you look around you might find unofficial MapWriter builds.
3. It's called Treecapitator and it is updated.
EDIT: 4. For recipes there's NEI. CraftGuide 1.7.2 might work with 1.7.10 also.
Thanks so much grim!
Treecapitator is indeed the one I was thinking of, although there has been a similar mod called 'Timber!' in the past. That's a shame about Rei, he/she had some great mods.

Not sure if it still works. But you can use Ladders as sort of a way to get up higher places. - - Quoted from a post by Unit7
Yea, it is a pitty that you took it down. But, I never understood why you need liteloader for the radar when Reis has had entities forever without liteloader.. Glad I got it before it was taken down though.
I'm a bit tired of people mentioning VoxelMap as "oh, well, if there's nothing else maybe I'll grit my teeth and use that". I've taken it down
I can understand that it's your work and you have every right to take it down.. and I can understand that I'm only a player who's been consistently using your minimap as a must have (not just a preference) for at least the past 2 years, both with playing for pleasure and for testing purposes, and I don't expect my opinions and "needs" to trump those of someone who's just returned to minecraft and the only two mods they can remember are Rei's and Timber.. and I realise that I don't have a Boxxy avatar
What I don't understand is how I'm going to test structure and mob adding mods now.
Still.. thank you for teaching me what happens when we take good people for granted. And thank you for making my life easier while VoxelMap was available.
I'm pretty sure no one said anything like that. For a long time the only thing I knew about was REI's because that was what I had found, it worked for me, I had no reason to look for anything else. Then, I used a modpack that had VoxelMap in it and decided it was great, and continued using it. Now, I don't know what you've read on other sites, and your decision is up to you, but there are plenty of people out there who love VM, just like there are lots of people who have never heard of it because they never *had* to hear about it.
This is a sad day in the minecraft modding community
I hope you do realize that people like kangWk are the very minority and that everyone who loves your mod (too many people to ever count) are actually playing minecraft and enjoying the mod instead of posting threads like these? :/
JourneyMap renders slow as hell.. can't even show many entities on radar and lagspikes sometimes when players/a lot of entities have to be shown..
I don't know my stuff too well but Liteloader was needed for some Permission stuff and besides, liteloader is completely compatible with forge.. heck, if he finds it easier/more fun to code for then why not give him that??
and is used for other awesome mods as well
I will be honest.. i don't know anything about the liteloader but from what i was seeing and interpreting on its "instructions" is its a mod loader that does LESS then forge ... but requires you do load it directly.
I will say its getting too complicated and silly and too much with mods and modloaders and i said i would use the forge version. I did not want ANOTHER mod item to keep updated and worry if it would conflict.
What did liteloader give or do better that forge did not or was more complicated to do? ( serious question I hope )
I just want stable mods and stable mod loaders.. and not having to worry will this part work for 1.7.10 or is it just 1.7.2..
I don't think i will get what i want honestly, it will require the minecraft to be stable at a version for a long time to get the loders to support it, then to have mod creators update to that version.
Then if minecraft does not change the mod loaders can work on updating there stuff to be more stable and offer a better API that wont change ( new stuff can come in but old wont go away unless its really broken)
Or minecraft could start supporting mods directly and that could remove all difficulty people are having.

I visited the PMC website today and was greeted with that the mod was removed. I assumed it was a mistake. I searched around to see if you had acknowledged it, and just now I checked your posts on your MCForums profile, and saw this.
Your minimap is literally one of the best mods ever made in the MC modding community. You are extremely talented, you listen to feedback and add amazing features.
There are two main mini map mods. Rei's and yours. And possibly MapWriter, but that's another type of minimap IMO.
I like your minimap over Rei's just because of personal preference. It looks better, has better features, seems lighter and faster. I generally just like it more. Rei has way worse support than you. I think his thread is... not maintained at all.
You're making a huge mistake by taking down your mod. It's literally the best minimap that exists.
You're will get ****, everyone gets ****. You know how many idiots that play minecraft? I've seen the comments on PMC. Some are very funny because they are so stupid. Don't mind them. Think about the users that love you.

hrm. very disappointed. I was quite happy the direction you were going with the radar and all also.
I understand the sentiments of why you are taking it down. Ive used voxel/zans for a very long time with the only issue I didn't include it in BnB was the radar. I'm hoping that you will eventually reconsider and rejoin the community. Some of us really do appreciate the work mod authors do.
I've updated the link in the LiteLoader post with a direct link for the current version (look under "what is liteloader for" heading) which MamiyaOtaru has provided for the time being.
I can't play a game of modded Minecraft without VoxelMap, the other maps don't have the options I need, Radar is one of them that I really need and don't want to have to make a guess about what is that red dot there on the map like Rei is doing, boom, damn it was a creeper and it blowed up my GregTech factory. If anyone knows any mod that would do the same job with mob icons on the map, let me know.
I need to also add, I need a working waypoint system that offers teleport function on them.
I'm a bit tired of people mentioning VoxelMap as "oh, well, if there's nothing else maybe I'll grit my teeth and use that". I've taken it down
Clarification time. Both of those sentences are true, but they are not related like their proximity might suggest. I had taken the mod down before ever seeing this thread because I won't be on PMC anymore. I just haven't yet bothered figuring out where I'll host it in the future. The pique in the first sentence was real though, so I wasn't particularly bothered that my phrasing might lead people to think that 1 led directly to 2. It didn't though, and VoxelMap isn't going anywhere, and if I ever tire of it completely someone else will step in (hopefully someone who can tell what the heck the code does. It's inscrutable in parts I'm afraid)
Sorry to worry anyone, that wasn't super nice of me.

Oh well, I guess you have your reasons. For the record, most people I've come across think VoxelMap is a lot better than REIs.
Voxel was ages ahead of any other map mod....
Hope you rethink your decision...

For those looking for a new map for 1.7.10, this looks good: JourneyMap http://www.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/journeymap/2207189

I don't mind that he does, he said liteloader was needed to show entities(mobs/players) on radar, just curious why when Reis didnt need it is all..

But it is still your mod and you choose how to do with it. The community suffers from it though.

VoxelMap was literally the best Minecraft Minimap... Don't do this to us!

*edit* that link Mumfrey mentioned is here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/hbakk9iuuf7t0h5/mod_voxelMap_1.2.2_for_1.7.10.litemod I wouldn't bookmark it; it will change as the version number advances, but pending some more permanent solution it will work for now
Glad you cleared that up! It was pretty easy to take that statement badly.
