I mainly use Optifine to increase my FPS when I'm using other mods so they don't slow down my computer, but now that I have to use separate folders for Optifine and my other mods, I don't know how to run them together. Can someone please help me?
I'm sorry if there may already be a forum about this but I don't really have the time or the patience to search around the site just to get confused and find nothing. If you can direct me to a forum that gives the information I require I would be very appreciative.
Please help me. I want to use a certain mod but I can't if it causes my game to run slower than Kevin James at the gym. I would really like to use Optifine to increase my FPS and just do what I need to do, but I have no idea on how to use Optifine at the same time as using my mods.
I will be very appreciative for any help you can give me.
You don't.
Forge was given optimisation and new rendering methods that should negate the need for Optifine. Trying to use it will cause rendering issues.

Well it hasn't negated it for me. All mods give severe lag and I have no idea what to do about it. Optifine helped me in the past to use mods while making the game playable. Without it the lag gets so bad the game even crashes sometimes.
Optifine DOES cause rendering issues but if you are lagging enough to crash then you shouldn't be playing Minecraft with mods. Most (not all of them are made right) mods do not cause any performance issues. The way they work is just like if Mojang added another block, they don't really do anything too special. If you would have looked it says how to install optifine.
Optifine edits the way the game is rendered. It can be advantageous with certain computers but not at all on others. Minecraft by default is made simplistically and doesn't really include any special code that is specific to some issues.
This is the one I normally do "- Put the OptiFine JAR file in the Forge "mods" folder
- Start Minecraft and Forge should automatically load OptiFine"
By the way you should be asking on that thread not really on a new one.

I just want to increase my FPS with mods without making the game look like crap. I only have one mod but I can't keep the FPS above 10.
And I already said that I didn't know the name of the thread for this. I didn't have time to search for the actual forum and keep checking it every hour on the hour for answers.

It literally states on where you download optifine. Anyway did you get your answer?

No I didn't get my answer.
I hate the way Minecraft is now. They said the new launcher would make things simpler but instead its just made the setup more complicated. I hate it when this kind of thing happens. I tried using Magic Launcher but I don't know how to make it work, and I tried searching the thread for help but I've found nothing helpful.
I'm so irritated right now with how things are. Is there a way I can close down this thread? Seems kind of useless to have it lingering around.
Huh. Well I use OptiFine with Forge just fine. And buss was wrong, you can't put optifine in the mods folder. It's what you used to call a "coremod", but those sadly don't exist anymore so you have to edit Forge's JAR file directly. It's terribly complicated. Buut I guess I'm talking to nobody.

If you say "plz" because it is shorter than "please", I will say no because it is shorter than yes.

buss1000 did answer your question on how to install Optifine for 1.6.2.
Edit:
Here is the thread for Optifine.
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/249637-162-optifine-hd-c4-fps-boost-hd-textures-aa-af-and-much-more/
I guess he wasn't aware of the thread.
Guess not. Not sure how he didn't find it because it is almost always on the first page of the Minecraft Mods section.
Also it's not like when you google "Optifine" that it's the first thing.
Anyway ABANDON THREAD!
