Hi! I'm running Minecraft 1.6.2 on a mac, and I want to make a mod, but last time I tried to do it the real way, I wasted 2 hours and crashed my minecraft. (I backed up all my important stuff.) I've tried learning Java, but it is really complicated. (I do know a bit though.) And I CANNOT find ANY tutorials on making mods for 1.6.2 on a mac!
So I turned to mod makers. MCreator only works on windows. And every other mod maker I've seen is the same. The few I have found that DO work on macs are not up to date with Minecraft. Finally, I found one that works with mac 1.6.2, but it doesn't allow you to create mobs, which is EXACTLY what I want to do.
So I need a mod maker that works for Mac, Minecraft 1.6.2 and can create mobs. or at least a decent tutorial on mod making for 1.6.2 mac. Anyone know something like this?
Making mods for macs is no different than making mods for PCs. If you want to create mods, I would recommend looking here: http://wuppy29.blogspot.com/ There are many forge tutorials here, and it makes learning modding much easier. I'm not really sure about mod makes on a mac, but you could always try using Wine.

Actually Mac isn't basically the same as PC cause PCs get viruses and MACs don't get viruses.
Windows run with PC and Apple runs with MAC
And the main browser for PC is IE/Internet Explorer and for MAC it is Safari.
So PC and MAC aren't the same and that's why there are different downloads for PC and MAC....
P.S. MAC and PC are different cause some programs only PC can have like Windows Movie Maker and Microsoft Word and MAC like Mountain Lion and App Store

His point was that they are not the same. His point was that making mods is the EXACT SAME on either OS, due to the nature of programming. Wine is sort of a WinOS emulator to allow you to run windows-compiled programs on a MacOSX machine. In addition, Mac's can get viruses.
I have a mac and got Mcreator to work for me fully. First go to your finder find Macintosh HD make a folder called pylo if it doesn't allow you to make a folder, go on the desktop then drag and drop the folder named pylo into Macintosh HD then get the app wine and wine unbottler and download MCreator place the MCreator file into pylo then rename the MCreator file to Mcreator it has to be exactly like how i wrote it, then go into the file and find the mcreator.exe file and open it with wine then you got it yeah. oh sometimes it doesnt work but it work for me.

Mac and Windows programs are written in C variants. On that note, they are very similar. Also, ANY computer can get a virus. Mac or no Mac, your computer is still able to be infected. Mac just has a crap-load of security to try and prevent infections on your computer.

Modding is the same for all platforms because all the tools, for the most part, run on java, and java is basically its own platform.
You managed to decompile and continue without me giving source code? O_O Bro, you are a god. Of course do whatever the [REDACTED] you want!!!! Good luck on it

This'll show you how to show hard disks on Lion. I'm running Mountain Lion, and it works just fine on there, too. http://www.elmajdal....on_Desktop.aspx
If you want easy access to it, just drag it to your Finder sidebar under the section that's called "Devices."

I'm also running a Mac. I haven't tried this yet, but you can also try running it on Parallels. Sadly, it does cost, but it didn't work for me on Virtualbox, so Parallels seems like it's worth a try.
To the people that claim Macs don't get viruses, are we already forgetting those 600,000 Macs that were hit with Trojan horses through the same hole in security that took a good two months to resolve?
On topic, though, learn java kiddo. Seriously. You aren't going to make any decent mods with mod makers like Mcreator.
I've been programming since the fifth grade, so listen to my advice:
DON'T TAKE SHORTCUTS. You want to make a mod, you've got to learn how. There's no easy button that will make something on par with some of the bigger mods out there with little effort, you've got to put in the effort to do learn what to do and just do it. Not only will the content be better, it will be entirely YOUR content. Nobody held your hand through the process or whatnot, you did all the work and made a damn good mod. Furthermore, nobody would download a mod that says "I made it with a mod maker because I can't code."

Tried to drag it to the "Mactintosh HD" and it keeps on making atlases. I also tried it without dragging it and it came up with a error. Your method probably only works on snow leopard. I have Lion. I have not tried Mono BTW.P.S please don't start a flame war!Update:

Here's an online web creator, http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/592631-152-mcmodgen-make-mods-without-coding-a-single-line07/ . Because it is web based it will run on any OS.

Macs are bad for gaming, and cost 2x more than a PC that doubles the Specs

I tried Mono it came up with this:
File does not contain a valid CIL image.
