Forge for 1.6.1 isn't out yet, and new Minecraft format doesn't let you edit jar files anymore so I wonder how will we be installing mods now.
It does, you have to make another 'profile' on the launcher, Go to %APPDATA%/.minecraft/versions, Copy the 1.6 folder, Rename it to something like Forge1.6, and open that and rename the other files in it to the same name, then mod that jar, and Alakazam

tried that but it rewrote the renamed one too I was doing something stupid and didn't change (newest release) to the modded one
still it dose not work for me but that^ dose not seem to be the reason
it seems that stopped being an option after launcher 1.0.6

interesting, i thought optine was helping my performance too! turns out when i uninstalled it my fps just about tripled!!!!
