I can help with modloader. I know how to make everything if your looking for simple weapons and armor and maybe a few advanced weapons. I can also make ore generation and pretty much anything that's in the game.

I agree with antflga72. Forge has an infinite sprite index (meaning that there is no limit to the number of IDs or either blocks or Items), has more support, and it's easier to use.
Anyway, about the actual coding, there are many video tutorials out there, as well as tutorials on HERE that tell you how to code in both modloader and Forge (there is actually a subforum about it).
With that said, if you want any real help, then you are going to need to be more specific about what it isyou are planning to have in this mod:
1) do you plan to have new mobs
2) do you plan to have new blocks
3) do you plan to have new halfblocks (currently most tutorials aren't working for these, for some reason)
4) do you plan to have new stairs
5) do you plan to have new fences
6) do you plan to have new equipment (weapons and armor)
7) do you plan to have new structures (like dungeons or temples)
8) do you plan to have new dimensions (Like the nether)
9) do you plan to have new foods
10) do you plan to have new flowers
11) do you plan to have new trees
12) do you plan to have new other plants
13) do you plan to have new abilities (anything really)
14) do you plan to have new Guis
15) do you plan to have new ores
16) do you plan to have other things
The point is, there are lots of things that you could have, and there are many tutorials out there that teach you how to do just about anything. here are a few tutorial topics that have some good ones in them:
