What the title says.....BTW if forge and modloader isn't compatible with Zan minimap I'll delete it...but if it isn't compatible with too many items TOO BAD IM NOT INSTALLING FORGE AND MODLOADER! Thx for reading :3
Thx for the advice. But wait....If i force update will it have to have a Minecraft.jar file to retrieve or just delete all the mods currently installed add META_INF etc. ?

force updating will essentially erase Your old minecraft.jar file, and download You a new one. It won't affect anything in the /mods folder(if You have one), but anything that was installed into the .jar file will be gone.
wait wait wait...the modloader and forge intallations for mods thing confuses me. It says on installation videos that you need to drag the contents from the mod.zip folder then put it in the minecraft.jar folder..then put it in the mods folder. Does it even matter?

it doesn't mean the "minecraft .jar" folder, it's probably talking about the " . minecraft" folder. the filepath would look something like : Appdata/Local/.minecraft/mods
where there is a period in front of minecraft. Most mods dont get installed into the jar file anymore. If it's still confusing, an installer like MultiMC might be worth a try, it makes it much simpler, as it uses a UI to do everything. Hope You're able to get it working.
Guys, it dosen't matter at all.....Forge has modloader in it so if you just "accept" Forge, you get the best of both worlds.....
NeoBlazer, if you install forge, then any modloader needed mods will work with it, just DO NOT INSTALL MODLOADER AFTER FORGE, you can try, but you will get a warning from forge that says it already has modloader in it.
And as for the force update, after you force update your minecraft.jar folder, you will have to reinstall forge.

Not all Modloader mods work with Forge, although technically FML(ForgeModLoader) is supposed to make them functional with Forge.

True, but most do. Unfortunately TMI does not work with forge, i found out the hard way........But NEI does with no problem, and it is the same thing with more stuff, why not get it?
From what I can tell, no Forge does not work with TMI. This is why I hate Forge and wish everyone would just accept ModLoader.
Sorry to launch a reality check, but ModLoader is a relic. The community is being held back by people feeling they need to use it. Forge is superior in every single respect.
Personally, I think the writing is on the wall for ModLoader, and I do not see it being a serious or credible target for compatibility when compared to Forge, especially with FML.

I cant agree any more, and, just to add to your point, forge has all the mods that actually count, if you sum it all up. It has the mods that can change the whole entire game of mine craft, and it has the mods that can just add one or two items.

Thanks for your advice everybody..but I think I'll just switch to Rei's Minimap, Keep TMI and just install some of Risugami's Mods.
Forge and Modloader do not work together in some cases Try useing optifine and look on the forge website as it says right there on it
in help
"DO NOT USE FORGE AND MODLOADER TOGETHER, USE OPTIFINE INSTEAD"
not ment to be cap rage but to get people to see ^^^^.
If i have help you try out my texture pack by clicking my banner. if you need mod textureing pm me.
Forge and modloader are not compatible together sometimes try optifine instead of modloader
I think what You're referring to is MCPatcher, not ModLoader. Forge and Modloader are incompatible, and generally You don't need both anyways. FOrge includes a thing called ForgeModLoader(FML) which is Forge's version of ModLoader that does the same thing essentially.
MCPatcher and Forge are broken together on occasion, and Optifine is a suitable replacement for MCPatcher, IF You are using it for HD textures.

Where on Forge's site does it say this? I can' find it anywhere, so a link would be appreciated
//www.minecraftforge.net/forum/index.php/topic,20.0.html" target="" data-ensure-absolute>Site"]Site. This is the EAQ for Forge/FML. It says:
Do NOT install ModLoader.
Do NOT use MCPatcher.
Those two things disagree with Forge.
