Hey guys, I'm working on a plugin for ModLoader that allows you to add new ores and gems with their respective toolsets by simply editing an XML document that looks like this:
I'm very close to releasing 1.0! I'll need some help after release however because there are some rather large errors I have no clue about how to fix. This will be open-source as I hope it's used by modders instead of hardcoding each individual new ore as that decreases comparability and it's much harder than using this.
Current Features:
Ability to add ores through an XML document and control:
-Name
-Rarity
-Hardness
-Material
Adds tools that can be crafted with ingots/gems of the new ore
Metals can be smelted into ingots
No editing of any base files!
Textures can be changed easily with the option to add your own!
To-do:
Add an XML to add new materials
Fix crafting bug with metal and special ingots
Not a problem. :smile.gif: Honestly, I love things like this. If you'd allow me, I'd love to put a custom tool just for this mod in my upcoming MCCP. It could have several presets that the user can add, then a nice real-time interface that allows them to add their own.
Yea, its just frustrating working on a rather intensive project like this and seeing mods like "OMFG NEW BLOCK THAT GIVES 10 DIAMONDS EVERY BREAK" get more views/posts.
hahaha I know what you mean. :smile.gif: So with this mod, I'm assuming any ores in the XML file will be spawned when a new world is created? How exactly will you be able to control the colors of the ores? And when can I get a download so I can start programming that interface? :tongue.gif:

Hopefully I'll release it within 15-20 minutes. You create the sprites for the ore and tools and then put them into the jar.
ah okay, gotcha. That shouldn't be a problem, my tool will be able to create the sprites for them. I wish people would start looking at the idea thread I posted. My old OCMI was pretty popular, but that's cause it was in the released mods board. This board isn't as lively. lol
Can you shoot me an example texture for all the tools and an ore? Need to map out all the pixels.
I'm releasing it open source, feel free to release whatever you want using it with or without adf.fly. All I will ask for is small credits at the bottom of your thread.
