The Aerwhale bladder should be for making airships, plain and simple.
I don't see the point in having over-lapping roles. Moas already act as very good transports, there's no reason in adding yet another transport which basically does the same thing.
If not for airships as transport, what are the Aerwhale bladders being planned for?
Also, now that GreyAcumen has given his thoughts on the proposed backstory of the Aether/Nether, I'm finding myself somewhat in agreement...adding a storyline that's enforced by the creator, rather than envisioned by the player, does somewhat get rid of the "sandbox-y" feel of Minecraft.
That being said, I don't actually mind the idea of having elements from the Nether occasionally pop up in the Aether, as long as this idea of a "war" between the two realms is not so overt.

Lol im not going to spend more time on the Aether, im going to live on the Aether :tongue.gif:
This mod looks absolutely amazing, and I can't wait to play it. However, I've noticed in the last few pages alot of people have been arguing over the new portal storms idea. I personally think this idea is great, and will be a lot of fun. I however also see the point of some people who don't want to these to be in their game, and I think they should be able to have their choice. I think everybody's problems could be solved with this one line: enablePortalStorms=true*
There. You can turn it on or off if you want to. With just a simple configurations file, which many mods add, people can determine what they want and what they don't. I'm surprised nobody thought of this sooner.

I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way, but I can't stand the ridiculous idea of air ships in the Aether!
Minecraft has never been a game that has much technology, mine carts and red stone being the most advanced. The idea of an airship, a huge leap in the technological spectrum, should be added in the Aether! The Aether is focused on heavenly, mythical, almost magical ideas. Why should you pollute all of that with a piece of new technology! That would ruin the whole Aether experience! Moas are good enough.
Look, first of all, Hot Air balloons aren't any higher of a level of technology than Coal burning train engines, in many ways they're actually a much lower level of technology, and second of all, there's nothing technological about using the gas bladder of an animal that flies and tying it to a boat in order to fly yourself.
Earlier, you called them Airships, which in itself implies the use of iron (or the Aether equivalent of) to make some sort of technical innovation that uses the Aetherwhale bladders to fly. Also, how big do you expect this gas bladder to be? I would expect that you would have to use a numerous amount of them to be able to support yourself.
An idea of a hot air balloon isn't that bad, if it acted like it would in real life. By that, I mean you don't have COMPLETE control over where it goes:
So, lets say that your flying happily around the Aether. Then, you see something that you want to go to. But, it's a really sharp turn. I believe that you be able to make that extremely sharp, due to the fact that a normal hot air balloon wouldn't have made it. Instead, maybe have a maximum turn radius, for a bit more limited movement.
Hey King, QQ. Are you ever going to update MC Advanced? That was my favorite mod ever and I would just like to know. If you aren't, that's okay. Have a nice day and Aether is looking better than ever.
Yeah I've got to say I think the "nether corrupting the aether etc." thing is kind of cheesy and I'd prefer if that little bit of pseudo-plot wasn't shoehorned in. I'd like things to be more or less plot-neutral so that I can direct the experience entirely myself.
What if you were to contact notch, not for adding it to the game but for the lighting problem you guys are having
The vanilla minecraft had a lot of lighting problems (without the 6 minute loading thing...) and not to mention if anyone knew what was happening, it would either be you 3 or notch :smile.gif:

make it so when you walk over them, they explode into a bloody mess Neat!
Ive seen posts in the past about this but afterthe release are you planning for a wiki or dedicated site? because for some people like me i like to do research and know all about the mod before i download it so this may be a good oppurtunity to gain heavenly aether support ._.
Hey, I was wondering if I could get some help with making the Dragon ball Z mod, I'm only mediocre at modding but when I finish, having HUGE DBZ style battles in the aether will be sooo cool, so I nedsome moders to help out with it. for anyone who helps
What sucked about it though was having to dig up a cubic kilometer of dirt to make all these ugly bridges between islands. Flight by Moa is going to be absolutely essential.

Haha, I don't blame you. :tongue.gif:
RiFT is an MMO, Minecraft is a sandbox game. The two should never mix, given the player-fominating nature of most MMOs.
I agree with what's already been said about the war taking away the player's ability to imagine, and that's the entire point of Minecraft.

In the design of floating islands it was practically identical, it just used vanilla blocks instead of any modded ones. It even had it's own massive dungeons.
What sucked about it though was having to dig up a cubic kilometer of dirt to make all these ugly bridges between islands. Flight by Moa is going to be absolutely essential.
AT: aRE YOU READY TO BE TROLLLLLED,

the dungeons will be a neat feature, but i just wanna get a feel for what it is right now.
