The way you're going about it makes me feel like it should be in a separate thread. However, if you feel justified in the fact that it should be here, please continue.
Well I'm sorry, it was just a suggestion for the Aether. I have no clue how to code in java nor would I enjoy learning how and I really don't think this deserves a mod of it's own.0
You'd be surprised about that. There's plenty of mods that only add one or two blocks, occasionally with no purpose other than to look pretty (I'm thinking of TehKrush's redstone block here).
If you really think this is a good addition to the Aether, continue to post about it here, but I personally think it could do well on it's own, as well.
Is all I'm saying. OT: Moon rocks of some kind. Just think it would be cool to collect, really.
- Galestone - (Wind transport system YES!)
- Flowvein - (Only accessible as a reward form a chest i assume)
- Floatsand -(I don't really care about this one...)
- Aerwhale Nest -(I say make it a red speckled egg) :biggrin.gif:
- Locked Chest -
man remembering all those info will make me have a hard time trying to get this all in my head and tell them the message on my friends on what they need to know about this mod..
Epic Suggestions. Aesth (Eh-Ss-TH)
One of the blocks (I don't remember the names, maybe holy blocks, maybe even a whole new block!) could be used to make this item. It would require a secret ingredient that would be extremely rare. Like diamond but 10x as rare. This ingredient would be called Graystone. You could use Graystone to create the Aesth block. It's a really bright block that is a one time use. This is what it does: When you die, your screen will go white instead of showing the game over thing and you will go back to where you put the Aesth. You will have 1 heart left. You will not have your inventory with you. If you put more than one down, the first will evaporate. As I've said before this will be extremely hard to obtain as Graystone is almost unobtainable.
Graystone
Despite it's name, graystone is an EXTREMELY bright ore. Nearly made out of pure light. It has multiple uses. First thing you could use it for is a light source. Put it on the end of a stick and it will light up in a radius of fifty blocks. You can not get the Graystone back after this. It can also be used to make Aseths (see above). The most deadly use though is tipping your weapons with this. Hitting a mob in the real world will do twice the damage of a diamond sword and will have critical hits-- Thrice the damage! -- while hitting a mob in the nether will instantly kill it. Not everything is made out of gold and glory though. Graystone swords can deal no damage to Aether mobs as they have evolved into being immune to this(this makes no sense?!).
I'm currently thinking of more ideas. Feel free to build on this or change it up, just make sure to credit me as an idea if you choose to use it :smile.gif: This would be awesome to see in the Aether!

I think that this is an excellent idea. A while back, there was a suggestion to have a special liquid in the centers of large floating islands that you could breathe in. Perhaps that could be another ingredient? I also thought that perhaps you could either use your block multiple times, but lose your inventory, or have it be a one-use item that allows you to keep your inventory and be restored to full health. Or maybe not, just ideas.

Don't beds do the same thing as Aesth? beds, reset spawn point, and are cheap, and more useful, as they give you full health instead of only one. It just seems wasteful to make Aesth. As to the torches, maybe only 20 blocks radius. The swords seeem a bit overpowered too. A no if this is all you got, but I would like to see anymore ideas.

First off, maybe call Grey stone angel stone
Aesth-its dumb to not have your inventory after you die with this, if this is exclusive to the aether, what use will it do when your items have flown off of the world? what i was thinking is if you had a angelstone block in your inventory (made with 4 ignots, like a snow brick) your screen will go white and isntead of a game over screen, it will shoot you 2 blocks out of (one of) your Aether poral(s).
and incase we dont like this idea, id love that for what happens when you actually fall off, so instead of instadeath, maybe it gets rid of half of your hearts per fail, aka, a second chance.
and the aeter is extreamly bright, so bright that it will BLIND you during the day (as so said above) so we should also have a alternative method to make it night in the aether, so we can walk around, and i like the sword idea, but 2x the power of diamond? thats a bit much, maybe a little better then gold (gold does the most damage) wit the durability of diamond, and you could make tools like this too, such as makign a gold tool, then crafting the tool and a ignot together to make a gold strength tool with 4/3 the durability of diamond.
EDIT:forgot abotu the new bed spawn point thing, the only use this would have is keeping your items if you fall off, maybe when you fall off this would act like a chest and be placed at the block before you fall off., and could be used more then one time, or it is just a collosal waste, and i compleatly agree with the torch statement above.
How are we gunna get to the Ather? To the Nether is a Portal. I was thinking you could make a "Stairway" of a certain material on the ground and when they surpass the clouds, you reach the Ather. Yet that would take a while. Another Idea is a Portal made of water and diamond Blocks. It takes more time to find the diamonds needed than to find obsidian.
Portal could look like this:

May I just say, HELL NO! I have been playing Minecraft for months, and even I would have barely enough diamonds to make THAT monstrosity! It was already stated that you would get to the Aether via a portal made of Glowstone blocks, or some other new block not yet mentioned. Note: NEW block. As in, a block not currently in existence in Minecraft. To conclude: SAY "NO" TO DIAMOND PORTALS, AND SAY "YES" TO READING THE OP!

No.
Death recovery items break the game. The bed makes sense: it's not instant, cannot be set at any time, and thus is much more a second spawn point and much less a second life. More often than not, you will still be somewhat far afield from your bed when you die.
I much prefer jdmd0's idea:

Not as a death recovery, but as a fall recovery.
Pop one of these in your inv, and when you get blown off, poisoned, or swet'd off, it'll activate upon crossing back to the Overworld.
You get spat out of your last portal a la Super Mario-- probably with some damage-- and you don't have to deal with falling out of the sky at some unknown place.
With just the fall recovery function, I think it should still be one use only, but not terribly rare. Maybe 4 Ambrosium and 1 Golden Orb. Or something to do with a bucket of clouds.
this will be way more epic than anything freaking notch could ever make u deserve a because if notch was making the Aether then it would have 3 new block types and 1 or 2 new mobs so basically it would be as boring as watching grow!
Augh, I wish that they would release it now, and just update it when it gets updated. I can't take the stress of wanting to go into the aether, I already made my portals. Just to be sure I got the portals right, I used a nether portal, glowstone, netherrack, soul stone, stone, cobble stone, glass, dirt, bricks, wood, wooden planks, all of those, just to be on the safe side, I can't wait til the release, keep the good work up!
people keep talking about weather so http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning# ... _lightning also theres something called super lightning that goes up from the clouds (i think that its name in not sure its been a while sense i've seen anything on the subject)
Also, the block will not give you your items back, and if you put two down the first one will be destroyed.
The way you're going about it makes me feel like it should be in a separate thread. However, if you feel justified in the fact that it should be here, please continue.
