My idea is that we could have 3 different colored motion trackers.
-The webcam senses where the tracker on the right hand is going/what direction/speed etc. That would dictate the direction of the mouse.
-On the left hand when you close your hand it presses the right mouse button, when you turn your hand around there is another motion tracker that would press the left mouse button.
I think this would be really cool to try out and maybe develop and market for use in other fields :happy.gif:.
Your probably thinking "What about the keyboard?"
Same here xD
Try to share etc.
I can do graphics, video editing (for promotion), GUI, some basic programming for the interface and webcam etc.
You would be using both hands at the same time, they would have to be in screen at the same time or it would disable you from using it. You would probably have to stand 3-4 feet away from the webcam
So instead of comfortably resting my arms on my desk while I play games, I should let them hover a few inches above said desk and get tired while playing Minecraft?

It was just a cool idea of mine, I was thinking "Hey that would be a cool idea that I could expand on, maybe make some money off of it. It would be pretty sweet if I could play Minecraft with it. Then I could develop it more and maybe start playing FPS's like COD and BFBC2!"
perhaps add a manager program that allows you to "capture" certain hand poses, and set them to hit a certain key or just do a specific action, whenever you perform that pose with your hands again
You could use the kinect for tracking lower body motions suck as rotating of the torso, movement of the legs, stopping, etc. This could be implemented with it too so it could eliminate the second left hand tracker and use the right hand tracker for the right hand and the left hand tracker for the left hand and set different keys binds so when you close your hand(s) it does the set key bind.
you really don't research well do you? if you check out the kinect link there's a video of the dudes entry notice the kinect's body visual window. it doesn't respond to hand based commands but to major body movements (curse you 1/0 based infared technology!) so unless you rewrite the kinects MAJOR functions it wouldn't respond to hand based commands. sorry dude it just wouldn't work.

The kinect would track the lower body movements, like the torso for rotating view, and the legs for walking. The webcam would be tracking motion sensors/specific colors.
The kinect would be on the bottom of the desk, the webcam would be on the monitor
Please realize you can easily accomplish all of this with an Xbox Kinect, since it has already been done. You don't need anything else besides the Kinect, it can track multiple parts of your body.
so you want two different sensors running at once? think about the cpu and ram required to run both at the same time? and then you would need to keep both in focused as you moved to keep track of your movements. then the timing problem it would require large amounts of data to keep the whole show running the idea of combining both is extreme at best and insane at least.
dude. that would be a good idea. it wouldnt have any con's if you get used to the motions, other than costing 1,000 dollars. :tongue.gif:

My dad has an uber powerful computer, I have run Mass Effect 2, Dead Space, L4D2, Minecraft, and Google Chrome at the same time and it didn't get too laggy to the point of annoyance.

It wouldn't necessarily cost $1000 dollars, more like $50-$100 for the right programs, a white background, white outfit, and small velcro pads with colored plastic.
use any controller with minecraft. requires a little trial and error with any controller other than the xbox controller.
the contest to get the kinect working with minecraft. the winner only won because he finished it there are several better versions on the web if your willing to do some digging.
I have some experience in programming (C#).

(X = closed hand, O = open hand)
X O = Left mouse
O X = Right Mouse
X X = Escape/Pause
