ok so i've been playing minecraft for a while now, id say 3-4 months, not that long but long enough to have my own opinions and ideas, and one thing that really bugs me is the zombies dropping feathers. I know that Notch didn't have chickens when he implemented the zombie drops, and he couldn't think of anything for them to drop.
So i thought up an idea, not very original, but it works.
Brains
brains could be little pink square things with little black swirls in them.
and you could craft them
= Brains
[]
and you could get a full brain block that would technically just be the same as the item except placeable.
also you could have super intelligent computers run by brain! BRAIN IN A JAR
so tell me what you think of this
and if someone was bored enough you could make a mod :smile.gif:
maybe, lets say only zombies would go for it, and they would take only 1-2 seconds to break-eat it.
ive never been an adventurer and avoid mobs as much as possible, therefore never payed attention to mob attractor ideas. maybe if they eat it, they would give you back the block if you kill them in..10 seconds? and they would drop 2 brains (the item not the block) instead of one.
I find it to be a rather creative idea. Someone else's suggestion to have the brains act as monster bait sounds like the simplest, and most practical application to the drop.
I'd suggest other things like crafting brains in jars using the brain and glass. It would serve as a morbid decoration.
Another idea would be to use the brains as a reagent for making potions (disgusting, I know, but any more than eye of newt?). Maybe a bioelectrical lamp for underwater light using light stone/redstone dust?
One last idea, though this is rather pushing it, would be to use the brains, along with redstone dust and other less used materials, to make automated defenses like autoturrets or golems/cyborg guardians.
At the very least, this drop makes ALOT more sense than zombies dropping feathers.
I always thought it would be cool if zombies would drop human loot. Maybe have it draw from the same loot table as the dungeon if anything else is too imbalanced, but it would be nice if they could drop anything. Imagine killing a zombie and having an extremely rare diamond cube drop.
make sure the zombie drops only brains when you headshot with the bow and arrows! hope brains gives bad karma to eat!
First of all, if you shot an arrow into a zombie's head, wouldn't it destroy the brains that you wish to be dropped?
Second of all, I like the idea for negative effects for eating zombie brains. It could act like the poison mushroom already in game. Plus, it would prevent the extremely disturbing notions of people regularly eating brains for health in the game.

crafting brains in jars is something i was thinking about but could never find a use for, then i read what notch said about him later implementing shelves and being able to decorate your overly large overly empty house, tower, castle, city, utopia whatever.
making a brain in a jar with redstone wire and turning it into an underwater lamp would be a great idea, but maybe when you craft it, the brain would be replaced for a glob of glowing redstone? idk i just find a brain in a jar lighting up would not fit in to people's creations.
potions, great idea. instead of a crafting box you could make something like a cauldron and add items like the brain into it, and maybe umm clay and redstone and you could get the golem type guardian
I'm glad you think these things Squid, and the brain lamp idea was just something I threw out there.
In regard to to the lamp's aethetic, I was thinking more on the lines of looking like an ornate rod with a bioluminescent jellyfish integrated into it.
I know, the transition from zombie brain to underwater jellyfish torches seems rediculous, but its no where near as rediculous as exploring the ocean depths with a bunch of brains on sticks. It's at least plausible, videogame-wise.
As to using the brains to craft automated defenses, your being put off by it isn't surprising, as I said it was rather "out there."

The idea of the jellyfish-esque underwater torches is plausible, and i like it, i picture pinkish blobs on the ned of a stick that only light up underwater.
they would simpley be crafted like this

but you would only get 1 instead of the 4 you get from regular torches, because i picture these being more rare.

You control all zombies and just click on a mob to kill it with a horde!
you have a lot of posts which means your not noobish and stupid
you were joking right?
