So, here's the schematic I am uploading for anyone using MCEdit, you can just drop this anywhere and start using to your hearts content. Be warned, place nowhere near anything you love. A fully loaded misfire = crater.
FEATURES:
* Multiple time switches! - Easily decide how far or close you want the TNT to explode in relation to cannon!
* Single Switch operation! - Just load and push button and you're off!
*BUGS*
Sometimes the shell drops backward. Dunno why, but only sometimes, so instead of firing, it explodes harmlessly in the blocks of water behind it. Annoying.
SCREENSHOTS / DIRECTIONS!
Front of the cannon
Buttons buttons who's got the buttons?
Like it says, don't put dynamite there, or you'll have a crater.
FULLY LOADED!
X is where you attach the shell (TNT) to, the redstone wire will trigger it at the right moment.
ALWAYS remember to experiment with how much TNT you put it, it will modify the travel distance/height of impact!
EDIT: I forgot to mention, yes there's extraneous things in the schematic, such as railroad tracks, some dirt/rocks and other stuff. I was way too lazy in MCEdit to get rid of all the junk, so you're welcome, you have a cannon island for a schematic. :smile.gif:

THE ARC CANNON, my latest and great creation, find here:
Thanks for the responses, glad you guys like it. I have a cannon that fires 8 shells in a scatter shot style. Anyone interested in that schematic as well?
So much fun to play with! Thanks! Now I am just going to edit it to have tracks leading up to it to launch animals. I remember watching a video like that on youtube and nearly cried because it was so hilarious.
See, my plan was to use animals as the cannon fodder as well, but has that feature been changed? I can't seem to get an animal to fire though. The minecart just breaks and the animal just sort of disappears.
EDIT: Also, once I get home tonight, ill be posting my 7 shell cannon, it scatters them in an arc, awesome destruction. No timers or anything though, very bare.
I tried so hard to make it launch animals, but everything I tried just killed them. I was able to make their dead body go a nice distance and they disappeared in the air. lol But it wasn't as awesome as the video. =[
I really like the idea behind it, the big problem though is it is so non-elegant, the schematic comes with just a big hulk of land. If you could clean it up it would be great. It doesn't need all the stuff included, and a removal would be greatly appreciated, as a stripped down version would be great for my mountain defense project.
Also, It can't aim, but I do salute you for your low ark without the use of soul sand.
