I'm in need of an automatic map backup mod that will backup my map every five or so minutes to a folder and a .zip structure of my choosing, and will be made for Survival Single Player (SSP).
I don't want to be forced to have to shut down my game to get my map to backup (Aka Minecraft Backup Mod).
My friend tried to SVN my map to where I won't have to do much, but couldn't do it due to constant "the folder is corrupted or unreadable" errors. And I'm not zipping my map up and putting it in Dropbox every update, even small ones.
I've seen what this latest Minecraft update has done to my map and I don't want it to happen again. So the security of my map is my #1 priority.
If you are running Windows download 7zip (it has a command line utility), write the command the way you like it, then setup a scheduled service which runs every X number of minutes. That is the easiest way.
If you really want a mod to do this, it wouldn't really take too much effort (1-2 hours work) - you could probably even do it without modifying any default classes if you used mod loader.
Just noticed that this thread is months old... is it still required?
Hey, thank you for the answer.
I don't really know how to write the command (do you mean a batch file?)
And yes, this mod is still required, because I lost my third world now, because of random minecraft crashes.. It corrupts the save file and I can't restore it anymore (tried to delete level.dat and rename the level_old.dat, tried to set a new spawn point etc.)
