Kind of a weird request here, and unsure how feasible it is.
I'm curious if there are any programs out there that will turn an image file into a zoomable, editable map much like those you see on Google Maps or Mapquest. Something that will also let users add labels to it.
I'd like to be able to load a Cartograph map somewhere and have it so players on my server can label their 'countries' and waterways and land masses, etc. It would also be helpful if it's possible to exchange the underlying image for an updated version every so often (with some manual adjustments to ensure everything still matches up) to account for newly explored areas, construction/destruction, and so forth.
I apologize if I explained this poorly, but hopefully someone out there knows what I'm getting at :smile.gif:
I see that www.maplib.net has something similar using the Google Maps API, but it's only free up to a specific size. The LOTRO "Google Map" was the first thing to come to mind when thinking of this ( http://lotromaps.onlinewelten.com/index_en.php ) and I'm curious of anybody here knows of an easy way to accomplish something similar using a Minecraft map.
Pretty cool but, sadly, not what I'm looking for. Was hoping for something top-down. Something that just lets me upload a map I've already produced (either a web service or, even better, an application I could run on my server) and allow users to label it with tags and whatnot.

Look for it.
