If people enjoy this, it would work great with my new "Pluckin' Crazy" mini-mod xD It allows eggs to be dropped by chickens when they die (less often than feathers), as well as right-click plucking action :tongue.gif:
I guess I shouldn't advertise like that, ahah. Still, I've had trouble collecting eggs in the past for Williem's Fried Eggs and Risugami's Egg Arrows.
EDIT Actually I think I'll link to this thread under my mini-mod post, if that's cool with you :3
It'd be nice if you could lower the values. Willem refused to because he felt eggs were too rare normally.
I still don't think cheese is very useful because it's consumes the bucket, unless you've fixed that (I don't see how you could personally unless you figure out another way to cook it without using the furnace ^^:wink.gif:. But the Fried Eggs are nice.
I'd guess the Fried Eggs should be like 3 or 4 hearts would be balanced.
EDIT: Maybe 3.5? You still have to cook it like Grilled Pork, but then again you don't have to hunt and kill pigs to get the food, it just drops randomly.
well I will fix the values and (between you and me I am planning a wooden bucket mod that will be 10x easier to make and will be enabled with the egg and cheese mod to alleviate the need for iron in the recipe. Shhh...)
*laughs* Not a bad idea zeRobuRn. If there was a wooden bucket made from 3 planks that was usable for milk, it would be a fair price for I'd guess a 5-6 heart cheese (I'd probably side on 5, as that would make it the highest item next to a golden apple, and still heal half your health)
Talking about this made me think about what would be a logical way for Notch implement cheese-making into the game. The furnace is an easy fix, but doesn't make sense in the long run (Especially cause cheese is made with aging over time, not cooking). The only way I can really think of is something like making a bucket of milk as a placable block, and if you leave it there for one ingame day, you can loot cheese from it, then pick up the bucket again. I imagine the code would be similar to that of a sapling, seeds, reeds, and cactuses; what with the changing into something else after a certain amount of time.
I imagine that is beyond the scope of something that you would like to try and make, but I thought the idea was interesting just to throw out there.
EDIT: If there was a way to make it not not consume the bucket, I'd go for 2-2.5 hearts (since milk is even easier to get than pork). The extra hearts was for the cost of the bucket getting consumed. Just thinking in your direction ^^;
EDIT: Sorry if I sound pissy, I don't mean to. I like your chainmail mod, it's delightfully well-balanced, and I love it (Hell, it's one of the few mods out there I think should be definitely be implemented by Notch as-is into the game). Just was randomly thinking Egg/Cheese balancing in your direction so it can be well-balanced too.

What about Risugami's Furnace Bucket Fix? Could the bit of code that does that be re-appropriated so that it leaves the bucket in the "Ingredient" slot after the cheese is made? I know there'd be a bit of a difference (Bucket Fix is for leaving the bucket in the Fuel spot, after all) but maybe the code would be similar?
The idea of a milk bucket block that you leave out over time is actually a good idea, Karilyn. Over time the bucket will change into a bucket of cheese, that, when broken, turns drops an empty bucket, and three or four cheese items. Perhaps it could possibly be made even more complex, dropping cheese curds rather than cheese, which you could then bake into cheese.
Thank you CyborgDragon. Trust me, it's only a matter of time before I end up going off and making some of my own mods, and something like that will probably be the first thing I make if someone else doesn't do it first. I can definitely put code together, done it for modding other games before, I just have not yet gotten around looking at Minecraft's code and figuring out how this stuff works, and am a bit ambivalent because I hear Notch's code is really sloppy.
I actually like that idea more than what I was going to do. The only problem I am having getting started on that is the friggin obfuscation used on the coding, makes it really difficult to find anything in there...
There's a couple problems I've come across you might wanna be wary of...
If you're planning on having a bucket "block" that breaks into a bucket + cheese pieces... I'm not sure how it'd work! As it stands now, you return a single object ID when something breaks or dies. Sure, you can have it drop more than one, but... I really don't know how to make things break into multiple -types- of items :\
If you really want to make the bucket "block, then I suggest making three skins for it. One empty, one milk, one cheese. Then adding a right-click function that "pops" four pieces of cheese out, returning the bucket to the empty skin. Regardless of -when- you break the bucket block, it should drop a bucket. That way you always get one back. If you break it while it has milk/cheese inside, you lose it... but it's not quite as important anyhow!
@Ayutashi: I had something like that in mind. I was going to use the iron block/wooden plank texture for the sides and bottom of the "bucket" and then only have to make the three different tops showing black when empty, white for milk then a cheesy yellow when it was finished.
I am one step closer to finishing my wooden bucket mod... it works with milk! I still can't get javac to compile my modded ae.java yet due to something that was already in the coding but i have a wooden bucket of milk working! Right clicking on water with a wooden bucket gives you a regular bucket due to some behind the scenes math that is going on but once I get my ae.java to compile I should be finished!
If anyone here has any knowledge why my code isn't compiling let me know. This is what javac tells me when I try to compile it:
C:\Users\***\Desktop\minecraft>javac -g ae.java
ae.java:25: cannot find symbol
symbol : method b(double,double,double)
location: class dr
am localam1 = am.b(d1, d2, d3);
^
1 error
I didn't touch that line of code, it is the same as when I first de-compiled it.I have no idea why it is giving me that error, it shouldn't be consulting dr.class if the line of code is referencing am.class, right?
EDIT: Just finished making my egg and cheese mod work with the bucket! Stuff's getting real now!
Here is an idea though:
Iron is most usefull for carts, rails, and buckets.
And, there is too much redstone, plus no way to make a redstone block like you can for iron, gold, and diamond.
Can you make it so we can compile 9 redstone into a fire block?
That way we can use 'em as moltove cocktails, or crafting armor as per the original glitch for making chain.
Then a Fire skin for the new armor to top it off.
The Fire skin makes sense becaue Fire armor (chain) works different than the other armors.
According to the wiki all damage comes off chain first, then the player, instead of the 50-50 split other armors use.
That would be awesome! I'd be happy to help with the skin if you do the code.
Wooden Bucket mod is out! as far as I can tell it works but if any errors or crashes (in development I had many) pop up just post the crash error in code tags and I'll see what I can do.
First download is just the new bucket mod while the second one is the bucket mod plus a modified egg and cheese mod that works with the wooden bucket of milk.
Whenever you break a Storage Cart or a Powered Cart you get the chest/cart or furnace/cart back every time.
Laterz.
Umm... is that a good thing or a bad thing? lol I can't really tell...

What are the data values?
For the Buckets? they are 1996 == empty wooden bucket,1997 == water filled wooden bucket,1998 == milk filled wooden bucket.
Anyways the next mod I want to make is some underwater/scuba items/gear but I can't really find where the air and bubbles are processed otherwise I would start on that now... Any help from the viewers?
nice work on the mod although the recipe i don't really see much sense it it because wooden sticks for a bucket?

i think it should stick a little true to the original recipe for iron buckets, like the same pattern of bucket and maybe a wood block, or possibly sticks but i mean what you are basically making with the string is a bucket with a handle which if a bucket had a handle id possibly make it like this.

or possibly an iron ingot where the stick is for like an iron sort of handle, but idk just some thoughts on it.
