Obviously Sword_frog! And MrM, I hope you do update bettergrass. But take your time, I'm sure with all that's going on right now you are busy. Hope everything goes well.
BetterLight is now smooth lighting in Minecraft 1.3_01, can you make your BetterGrass Not need BetterLight? also can BetterGrass Work with SDK's Mods when it comes back?
Wow, so much spam my eyes bleed. For the people that want a minimap download zanz minimap (it works for the newest version of minecraft, though FPS problems at lowest zoom atm), it's a highly improved version of simplemap that messiah basically stopped developing, why he even cares to keep updating it is beyond me.
About bettergrass we'll just have to wait for Messiah or someone else to update it. I don't feel its necessary to put it into the game tho, whenever this mod API comes out (which probably ain't too long till(next update?)) mods will keep working with each update of minecraft. That is, if the fundamental code haven't been changed in some mod breaking way.
Oh, and this about betterlight being better than smooth light, that is total bull imo. Smooth light is basically the same thing only that it's brighter. This may be why you think BL is better, cause the AO stands out more by being darker, the downside however is that torches and all light sources seem like giving off less light, not a major problem but smooth light is much better by this fact imo. It should be possible to work around this by separating AO and smoothing of light. Maybe, just maybe, Messiah could change his betterlight mod into an AO mod again, that would override the AO of smooth light with darker AO, but at the same time keeps the brighter light smoothing of the official version. Not necessary at all though, but if demand is high...

You're completely wrong about BL vs Notch Lighting.
I lost 50fps going to 1.3. Something is fundamentally different, and it doesn't work on higher end video cards.
Hmm? Going by the "requests" this thread is getting, I wonder where all the newbie-bashing troll-types are when you need them? They seem to appear with the swiftness and stealthiness of creepers in other threads! ;-)
Just so you guys who complain about FPS know: I'm pretty sure MrMessiah was the person who helped make the official 1.3 lighting. Same person, so same thing.
BUMP********
Fixed that for you.
There's a rumor going around, but no-one, anywhere, in any form of official or relevant capacity has said this.
I said higher end video cards because that seems to be where people are losing fps. Lower end seems to gain some... Seems odd. (Mines a 6870 for the record)

Wrong. Notch said it in the official 1.3 patch notes. All you have to do is read them. They're in your face when you launch the game, and they're on Notch's blog.
It says "with the help of MrMessiahs [lighting engine]". Learn to English.
No-one, anywhere, has said that MrM even knew they were going to do it. Let alone that he actually helped them to include it. Jeb however, HAS said that he was working on including it. The fact that there are several differences (light bleeding, ice shadows etc) reinforce this fact.
In my experience, "with the help of" is often used as a form of credit to someone for work they had done before, not a credit for having actually been involved in the process, directly.

And this :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif:
you win the internet for this well worded report/complaint.

I don't know what's causing your problem, but I'm using an NVidia GT 240 and my FPS increased by like 10-20...

I think it's more than a rumor.
