If you still can't tell whats an ad and whats a regular download on the internet than you shouldn't be downloading anything on the internet.
if they would use a secure os like linux or bsd, then they could download all the ****. the worst what could happen is that the spyware borks the wine installation, which can be fixed by “rm -r ~/.wine”
I found a fix to the mac .class number error. Don't know wether or not it has been posted, so here it is:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Make sure you have the latest java update from the Software Update.
2) Go to Finder/Applications/Utilities and run Java Preferences.
3) You will see 4 Java version, for my iMac I have these :
Java SE6 Apple Inc. 64-bit 1.6.0_22-b04-307
J2SE 5.0 Apple Inc. 32-bit 1.5.0_26-b03
J2SE 5.0 Apple Inc. 64-bit 1.5.0_26-b03
J2SE 1.4.2 Apple Inc. 32-bit 1.4.2_22
4) Drag the different versions so that "Java SE6" or version 1.6.0_22-b04-307 is on top.
5) Run the .jar
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What this does is makes sure that the newest version of java is the first tried. If an application is not coded to do so, it will try the first Java, and if that doesn't work it ends the process.
I have it JUST like you, but it still fails. ;_____;
I simply think MrMPacher just screws it up.

I've noticed I started having a lot of blackscreen type problems when adding mods to a .jar that has been patched by this mod. I love better light and grass, but it seems to make my minecraft.jar very unstable as more and more mods are added to it.
I have found a temporary work around that has worked extremely well so far. It won't work for everyone, but I just thought I would share in case other people were having the same issues.
I believe the author of this mod is not allowed to upload altered minecraft.jar files, so that is why he has to use the patcher. The problems start happening when you add mods in that use unpatched minecraft.jar files and then you get the black screens.
What I did was start with a brand new minecraft.jar (I am on mac, so this entails dragging your /bin/ folder to the trash) then when you start minecraft it downloads a brand new version.
Then I copy the MrMPatcher.jar to the /minecraft/ folder, then run it only selecting Ambient Light and Better Grass.
Next, i took note of the files that were "patched"; they were:
BetterGrass.class
bt.class
cg.class
pj.class
(You can see this from the output window that pops up after you patch)
I then copied these 4 files to a different directory where I keep my mods.
Cleaned up the files - dragged /bin/ to the trash to get a new (unpatched) minecraft.jar.
Finally used Minecrafter, and then simply added the folder that I saved the 4 patched files and all is well!!!
Check my sig if you need help using Minecrafter.

I've been meaning to ask some people what is the best linux distribution? I'm think about installing it on my next computer.
REALLY!!? You took the time to write such a long post without even looking on the last page? That problem has been posted, oh I don't know... 20 times by now.
MrMessiah is VERY aware of it and is working on a fix.
please people READ THE THREAD before posting!
I did read the current page and tI don't remember seeing anything on it about green blocks. I'm not going to read backwards 3 pages just to find what i was looking for.
I'm also just going to say that you know, you could have been nicer about the whole thing but instead you come off looking like an elitist jerkoff. At the very least a simple "we know it's a problem please be patient" would have been sufficient. Please try and be more polite as not everyone sits on the Minecraft forums all day reading all the new posts in their favorite mod/texture pack thread. Not to mention I wasn't sitting there going "Omg omg omg this r broke fix it!" I quite nicely asked if anyone knew anything about it and even said thank you in advance for any information provided. So again, a little more courtesy would have been nice, but thank you for telling me even though you were very rude about it.
okay
So I downloaded the rar, put MrMPatcher.jar and mods into .minecraft
then I double clicked the patcher.. and this console box pops up for about half a second
?? what the hells going on
I did exactly what it said in the instructions didnt I?
if youre talking about the patcher and the mods folder
doesnt it say not to?
"PLEASE NOTE: This goes in the .minecraft folder NOT the .minecraft/bin folder"

I dunno man. I always have shoved the patcher in the bin folder and it always works for me... Maybe I'm doing it wrong lol

with your post i found a fix for (i guess) all the mac problems (10.5 problems, to be exactly)
putting java 6 on top is only ONE step.
you also have to follow the instructions someone posted in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=122160"
I don't know who originally posted, but I will pass the info along wrote:NOTE: Make a back up of any files that will be used just as a precaution.
Instructions:
First off make sure you have Java 6 downloaded. (Do a software update if you haven't done one in a while)
Go to your Minecraft app, right click and choose "Show Package Contents".
Next open the contents folder and open "Info.Plist".
Once it's open look for the line that says
Code: Select all
<key>JVMVersion</key>
<string>1.5+</string>
Once you have found it change the 5 in 1.5 to a 6 and then save and exit.
Once done with that open a new finder window and go to Mac > System > Library > Frameworks > JavaVM.framework > Resources > Mac OS and then copy the file named "JavaApplicationStub".
Now go back to the contents folder and go into the "MacOS" folder there and paste "JavaApplicationStub".
Next search "Java Preferences" in finder.
Open Java Preferences.
In the "General" tab there should be a list of the Java versions you have. If "Java SE 6" isn't on the top of the list then drag it to the top.
Install mod(s) of choice.
Run Minecraft.
Mods should now work.

i would also add that /frameworks/ is per standard hidden, so you should use the terminal or something like pathfinder etc (there's a thousand ways to do this, google)
this way EVERY mod that used to cause the loading bar crash or BOSD works now on leopard!!!
okay

Ummmm... the mods were working so well before, but my Minecraft started downloading things and when I checked, the mods were gone! Nothing was working! But the version still says 1.2_01. Did this happen to anyone else? Please help :sad.gif:
