You need to build an exact replica of Manhattan made of diamonds and when you're done then your diamond Manhattan disappears and in its crater is one lantern.
Sol, I think Notch said he's not going to add support for higher-resolution textures in the October 30th update, so that may be what he's thinking of.
Oh, well this may very well be the case. In fact, I'd be surprised if Notch DID add higher res texture support before beta. It's not exactly high on the priority list, however it is on the list to be looked into at some point. Until such time, I will be one of a few users attempting to locate and fix the bytebuffer in each patch release in order to maintain the higher res texture packs in working order.

And I thank you for that, because I really enjoy the higher-res textures.
I have released the latest version of my texture pack, and it now includes both HD and standard size textures. Also included are all item textures, except the fishing pole and the watch. Enjoy!
Wow, I love the new gold & iron ores. I'd love to see the coal/diamond/redstone in that style as well.
New cobblestone looks good, and the mossy cobblestone looks awesome. Your furnace is great too.
Your bark and bricks are (still) cool. Would you want to make your clay red to match the bricks? I like the dirt better now without the flecks of gray. I like the gravel too -- I wonder if you'd like to try just a tiny bit more color in it? (brown? pale yellow? not sure)
I like your tool icons. The colors make the distinction between wood/stone/iron tools very clear. Your ham is fun, too.

I have been thinking about making the clay red. It would make it a lot easier to distinguish from the smoothstone texture. I just need to find a way to do it that doesn't make it look too much like dirt, because my dirt texture has more red than the standard one.
I probably will add a bit more color to the gravel too. As it is there is just gray, light purple, and light yellow. I can increase the saturation of those colors a tad, and maybe even add a fourth color also.
I appreciate the feedback too, this is exactly the kind of criticism that I need to know what things to improve.
Now that I've looked at it some more, I really like the angular bits of redstone in your redstone ore. It looks so physical. I almost don't want you to change it to match the style of the gold & iron.

I'm glad you changed your mind, lol! I was really not sure about turning the redstone into a vein like the iron and gold. I think of redstone as a crumbly stone that breaks into dust when you mine it. Im open to improving the other ore textures like the coal or even diamonds, but I feel like the redstone is just about right.
Any other complaints or criticism you can give on textures that you really don't like are welcome.
the colors on the fernus?I would think it'd be more yellowish around the bricks, it'd throw off a yellowish/orange/white imo and not a reddish/white.
You know, I kept thinking the furnace lighting on the "burning" furnace just didn't look right. I kept adjusting the saturation levels and brightness, and even did some individual pixel edits to try and improve it, but for some reason I hadn't thought of tweaking to color toward a yellow/orange color. I'm gunna try that, thanks for the tip Syntria!!
I can't get on Minecraft now. It says "Java(TM) Platform SE Binary has stopped working" What do I do?
If you made a mistake when installing the texture pack, you might need to force the game to re-download the minecraft.jar file.
Just delete the minecraft.jar from your .minecraft/bin folder and then re-launch the game. This will force minecraft to re-download a new minecraft.jar to replace the messed up one.
It now includes interface textures for the health bar, inventory, furnace, etc. It is also compatible with the new "Texture packs and Mods" feature of minecraft, so installation is easier than ever. Simply download the Zip file and place it in your texturepacks folder. Then simply select the AxePack from the texturepacks menu after loading minecraft.
I have finally uploaded the version 0.8 HD pack. There are not that many changes to the terrain from the 0.7 release, but there have been many minor tweaks to some of the terrain tiles, and there is a new torch texture. Also, the interface/health bar textures are included, as with the 16x16 v0.8 release.
Just wanted to give you guys a sneak peek at the next version, which will include the following mobs:
Also, the GUI has been tweaked, furnaces have been improved, and all weapons/tools/armor icons have been improved a lot since version 0.8
As for when v0.9 will come out: The standard (16x16) version should be released within 2-3 days, but the HD version (32x32) might not be finished for another week. The only HD mob texture that is finished is the Ghast at the moment, and I really want to try and get HD items done so the pack will truly be HD. As always, constructive criticism is welcome!

Please note: You MUST use the latest HD texture fix if you use the HD version, or else your Hell/Nether world textures will be messed up!
