I'm not sure if you noticed this, but one of the things i liked about the original crafting table, is that it had the 3x3 crafting grid on the top texture. I know it's not much, but it's those little things that i like, and underneath all of the stuff on the top texture, it looks like it's only white, and i think it's just crying out for a crafting grid underneeth.
Also, very good job, loving how this is coming along.
And i'm currently using a mixture of this and mixcraftHD, but mixcraft is now mostly just to fill in the stuff that isn't on the download.
Saw the comments on the torches and unfortunately there isn't a whole lot that can be done to fix torches due to some problems with how the game actually draws them.
The main problem with torches is that the game only renders the front faces of shapes so any overlap tends to be non symmetrical which isn't so noticeable at a distance but does look odd up close. (Not that seeing the back planes rendered would be that much better, but I think it would be an improvement.)
A secondary problem is that torches placed on walls are skewed rather than rotated which causes distortion. (This is one reason I tend to avoid placing torches on walls unless the torch is going to be tucked into an alcove.)

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
First off: Great work so far. I didn't try it yet ingame but the image looks really good.
However, I have to second what Arghore said on top of this page: The anachronism between chests and craftingtable is a bit too much for my taste. Yes, there is TNT which is younger than those chests appear to be, but it isn't that obvious. The table however is a rather central element in Minecraft, as are the chests which is why it won't work very well together in my opinion.
Not sure, what your goal is in respect of time (or if you are aiming for any kind of consistency whatsoever) but right now I see two different "epochs":
Iron door, Torches, Rails, Chests, Ladders
vs.
Craftingtable, wooden door, (TNT).
I keep trying to post the crash log for after I applied this but the stupid forum keeps demanding I log in AFTER I'VE ALREADY BEEN LOGGED IN FOR HOURS AND THEN IT "LOSES" ALL THE TEXT IN THE BOX
Anyway. Here's hoping it posts this, becuase this is about the 50th time I've tried.
I get a bunch of exception errors when I "install" this without using a program to do it.

I had that problem too, but deleting the cookies fixed it.
The workbench... I feel bad, but it reminds me of Tim Allen and Home Improvement. I loved that show.
I really REALLY like the impact effect on blocks as you break then, and everything looks so good, but I think redstone and iron look just a little too similar. Otherwise I'm loving it!
Even jus ma last version gots me ova 6,100 downloads, son
You best be hidin yo kids and hidin yo wife, cause ima come ova dere and whip yo ass

Love the flowers and mushrooms btw.

Thanks. Wish I'd known that beforehand.
