1) Would getting a low res tileset make your MC run faster?
2) Would a low res tileset even BE possible? I know that hi-def does, you know, when you have 32x32 blocks, but they have glitches, I know I know, but what about a low res?
I'm just asking because I don't care about the graphics, I just want MC to run well. Plus, this could mean that older systems could run it. (Right now, it's 16 bits, right? So what about 8 bit? Or even-*Gasp*- FOUR bit?!)
Loading 17KB of textures instead of 70KB is not going to speed up your game, unless your computer is truly ancient it will have many MB of video memory.

So I just wanna know if it's possible.
I dig straight down.
And may I point out, dimension =/= bit depth. Bit depth is amount of color data, not the size.
It won't, I'm sorry to say. The computer is still rendering the same amount of data regardless.
