HECK YES!
Just saw this on evil notch's twitter, This would be amazing, please find a way to do this! Also, you should post this on the r/evilminecraft subreddit to draw more attention to it.
I wish you luck on this! Hope people actually apply!
By the way, I give you the right to use my texture work from the original EVMC as placeholders or as the final product. I'm just happy all our work didn't poof away. :3
THANK YOU! I never expected this to be so well supported so quickly! O_o
The textures would be amazingly helpful, can you send me a PM with the details of everything you can tell me?
We have one potential Coder, I'm waiting for him to announce it here. Then I need to round up everyone else. Somehow.

I might be able to help in my free time.
Plenty of minecraft modding experience, really good java coder, fast learner.
What do you plan on doing with this mod? What's the project plan, etc?

Well, that's why I made this thread. I need to see who is interested first, then we will pick somebody to dig through the source code and see what needs done, then define what goals this project will have.
At the moment, the primary goal is to get people rounded up and see what resources we have to work with. There's MinecraftShamrock at the moment and yourself, and the original textures made by RicksterCraft, and I'm working on getting the permission to use the textures of another texture artist that worked on the original. In the event of needing new textures, such as for new content we may add in later, I will be looking for a new texture artist once we need it.
An issue is, I am not a modder myself. I know NOTHING of Java yet. Which is why I am not allowing myself to determine anything about the coding direction of this, I'm looking for someone that is confident enough to know what they're doing and letting THEM do that part.
In a perfect world, we will get input from the original creators and get to see where they would take the mod if it were updated by them. And... if at all possible, hopefully get the mod coding to be clean enough that it will be able to be updated with minimal personnel in the future so it can then be maintained/added to by the fan community without the need for a designated team.
I cannot stress enough that I am not the Leader of this project, I'm nowhere near qualified for that position. Instead I'm gathering people that are qualified, trying to help however I can, and gathering whatever resources are needed to get this mod to return to life.
Within a few days I will gather up the names of the folks that have shown interest and officially make a list of staff, of course all help will be welcomed as it may come. I'm basically still waiting right now to see who else will reply so we can start with as complete a group as possible.
Hello again Lenatir, It's great that Evil Minecraft will be updated. I am highly interested in helping out with the development. I am probably not the best coder here but I can do quite a bit of it including the new blocks, items and biomes. I have developed the occasional mod in the past and updated Kaevators SuperSlopes from 1.2.3 to 1.4.5 for personal use. It wasn't that difficult but it was good experience which will surely help out here. If needed, I could head the project up but will need your input on where to take the mod, along with the original developers. Regards, Miniroo92
Well, that rounds us out with I think a Skeleton Crew at the very least, and I know ShamrockMinecraft has offered to the main coding, so with all the axillary support I think I can officially make the list up today! Yay!
Hey guys. I'm computertechie, one of the coders from when EVMC was alive. I'd love to help out with this. I can do just about anything within Minecraft modding, but I really enjoy working on the internal stuff (things like expanding block IDs or changing save structures, both of which I implemented for EVMC). PM on reddit (/u/computertechie) or here if you'd like for me to join up!

Karmickoala Worked on original Evil Minecraft Mod!
Just to clarify, this project is aiming to extend what the creators of Evil Minecraft wanted to do, right?
If so, then just point me in the right direction. I love a challenge, and I have two years of video game coding, one year of minecraft modding, and two years in between of robotics programming, plus I'm in computer science now. Preferably, someone from the original team (Looking at you, Karmickoala!) can help the programmers by telling them what they want to see in the project, and then I'm guessing Shamrock and I and anyone else willing to help could pull this off nicely. (:
Taking Computer Science in School, advanced knowledge of Java. Would be interested to help in spare time(if any)
Interested in being involved in a larger mod's development.
Ideally? Yes! ABSOLUTELY. First I think we should be focusing on getting the thing updated, and then once we know what we can do, then I think it would be a CRIME if it was not made to be as truly authentic to the original as possible.
But, I know I do NOT have the experience needed to really "LEAD" this project, and as such I want to appoint somebody as being in charge of the Direction of the mod, which probably will be KarmicKoala considering his work on the original project will give him an understanding of what elements of gameplay and presentation are thematically relevant to Evil Minecraft. Not to mention I think he could do a better job because his experience modding and with the original would mean he could actually kinda get his hands dirty with the source code.
But still, I want to help this along however I can. I just don't want to give the impression of knowing what I'm doing.
I'm just... I'm really amazed. This was just an idea. This was just an idea and now I have several very talented people working to restore something millions have enjoyed. LITERALLY a full million people have played this, and the moment it's finished... At the very least, ten thousand people will know and play this once it's completed. I can't even devote as much time to this as I would like to, I have a wife and we're expecting a baby in February, and in the wake of it all I had an idea to start a Mod Orphanage... And in that I had a minimal amount of faith, because it was an idea that came from myself. And yet... This was suggested. And I thought it needed more attention than just sitting in a thread.
So I decided to start contacting people just to gauge interest, and I barely had to even TRY to get people... And yet they came up and out of everywhere, DESPERATE to see this thing live again.
If word of this were spread far enough, I have no doubt that a team of a hundred could form within a month.
What is made with this project will affect at the least a thousand people. Possibly as many as a million.
Even if all I did was blow a trumpet, as I surely don't possess any talent for modding or leadership...
This is the largest, successful venture I have ever taken, and the funny thing is I know it will be successful. The sum total of the wills to see this work is very much like a tide, a torrent, it is unstoppable.
And all it took was an idiot with a trumpet.
Er... You cant really do that though, right? Angry Pixel own it, they are already working on it here http://www.angry-pixel.net/
also, the mods modeler gave everything he did to the founder of AP too. same with one of this mods texturers, so the guy at least owns all that
I'm pretty sure when we went open source, everyone agreed to the fact that their stuff can and will be distributed free of charge or contract. That is what Open-Source is.
Well, that's good news indeed... I was worried about people expressing a degree of anger over this continuing the project. Ideally, anybody with experience would be good.
I'm trying to move away from pointing people anywhere, I'm worried as on January 1, I'm moving into a new apartment. With no Internets. And then also desperately search for a job. So I need to work out how to get people together without relying on this particular format as I will only be able to get online after a long march across Athens Ohio to the Alden library after looking for work and helping my extremely pregnant wife around the new place...
Suggestions for how to set up an infrastructure between the members?

They do not 'own it'. Nobody does. As well, all of the models / textures are for public use, as stated when the mod went open-source.
