I'm really stumped with the visibility bug. I suggest you create a separate thread for this. Here's the only thing I found about this problem, might be useful to you. Try to maybe fool around with the shouldSideBeRendered method, combine both BlockBreakable's and BlockSlab'sshouldSideBeRendered perhaps. Sorry, that's all I can help with.
Ok, so I'm excited. Sue me. That link did the trick. I copied the relevant code from that post into both the slab & stairs code, making adjustments to each as needed... as you can see, both types work PERFECTLY now!! This officially closes this thread. I wish there were a way to mark it "solved," as there is on other forums. In the mean time, thanks for your help on this. Now I'm off to do other things...

You can mark it as solved. Got to the first post, press edit thread and in the title tags select resolved. I always do that.
