Hello i am working on developing a mod and as just a test item i made a quick texture the item is in game and has a unlocalized name with a lang file that works fine but when i assign the texture to it the item still has the missing texture.
This is my code // i used mrcrayfishes 1.7.10 tutorial for getting a understanding of the basics if that has any consolation
itemtest = new Itemtest().setUnlocalizedName("itemtest").setTextureName("BRFm:itemtest");
Your Item needs a model file stored in /src/main/resources/assets/[modid]/models/item and the texture has to be located in /src/main/resources/assets/[modid]/textures/items.
Blocks need an Item and a Block model, and also a blockstates file.
Btw your modid and resourcelocations should be all-lowercase because forge forces them lowercase internally at some points.

JSON does not exist on 1.7.10, only 1.8x and new versions uses JSON. 1.7.10 and older uses ModelRenderer, setIcon etc.

The texture is in the folder but was not aware that the modid needed to be lower case thanks
