I tried running start.java (freshy decompiled 1.7.10 with MCP) and I get this error. Any ideas?

Don't use start.java. just use gradleStart as main class and Forge will do the rest.
The CMS warning can safely be ignored, it doesn't affect anything.
EDIT: If you're new to modding anyway, use the latest Minecraft 1.9 Forge version to start (1.8.9 is fine, though), otherwise it'll be difficult and time-consuming to update your code to the newer versions.

I am not using forge I am just using minecraft. Should I do forge? If so how do I get it into eclipse so I can mod?

How would I do that? I am pretty new to Java in general and am trying to learn through my favorite game, Minecraft, but I don't have many resources.
