ok so heres my idea, a programme that lets you create mods by just clicking and naming stuff, but unfortunately im on a mac, so it wont (if i ever do create it) be on pc for a while.

<---- if you can see that apple ur on a mac XD
There is no way you will be able to make that tool turing complete without implementing some form of programming (textual or visual).

Support the Allocator! Find my inventions such as my pressure plate removal detector on the About Me page of my profile.
I'm still looking for more feedback on my configurable Redstone Gate mod. All gates and common circuits (such as e.g. clocks, edge detectors, latches and Flip-Flops) in a single block.
oh God not the makemy- things again... to save yourself a lot of hate (from real modders) and a lot of spam (from the people using it) and a lot of work (for the moderators), just stop... please

Really? You're going to make this application? For a Mac? And all I have to do is click and name stuff?
I don't think you should do this the last time somthing happend and everyone wanted to post there mod and there were too much people posting mods and notch asked him to shut it down and so plz dont
ok first thing, beyond adding simple blocks and items the program would become really complicated
second thing
every bug would spam your damn inbox about 1000 times
third thing
there are youtube tutorials on modding and on java, your time is probably better spent watching these than figuring out how to write a program for this
There's all these big dreams, but the dreamers don't think of the practicality of it, and then if this was successful, everyone would make a mod adding a few items, and the minecraft mods section would be spammed with stuff no one would really ever use
dude, i already can mod, and
1. i could make it a .bash or a .shell in terminal
2. i dont even think ill make it
but well besides the coding part all it really has to do is auto enter terminal **** which uses mcp and then make a java file, or just copy a java file, about the customising the name n **** idkoh and all it really does is gives you the java code file, you edit the name, then it decompiles n **** with mcp and puts it in n stuffill include a readme saying DONT post your basic blocks, just like how the guy with the human npc tutorial did
The problem with everyone being able to mod is that everyone thinks they can...
It just drowns out people who put true effort and creativity into their work with people who just make things haphazardly thinking that their 4 minutes of work will achieve popularity, but since everyone hopes for the same thing, none of them get anything including those who actually deserve it :sad.gif:
This is exactly what makes me very sad about our current decade and much of my own generation
Think about it, don't we have enough mods already that are just "I added copper and copper tools!!!! My mod will be as great as the aether!!" ?
The balance of creation lies with the process. If the process is not challenging then the creation will lose its worth since the only strive would be to beat the low-set challenge.
Sorry, but I kinda really hope you don't make this, dude :sad.gif:
nah it'd be worse cuz then people wouldnt even have to spend like 10 minutes learning how to set up mcp and watching a simple tutorial, they just press a few buttons and poof

Yeah, just stating old news probably, but making a tool like this would be near impossible to make, well impossible.
Mods require loads of different ideas, and loads of different code editing. Maybe if you wanted to make mod helpers, like adding your own items, and there own items along those lines may be possible, but not for every mode ever thought of.
It shouldn't be to hard to code, the only thing is you could only make it for basic things, like armor, potions, weapons, and tools. It would be hard to make one that started involving mob creation for custom mobs, such as horses.
This has been done 5 or 6 times now a simple Google brings some up its not hard to do and is pointless. People who don't know how to make a mod don't need to make a mod its as simple as that (by that if they needed to make a mod they would learn java and make one).
By making this you help no one, they make mods but learn nothing, cant handle any errors or handle updating.
oh wow, people who actually make mods are really stuck up about other people making mods. and anyway, i am a programmer
(if you knew c++ you would recognize my name) and it wouldn't take all too much code to make a program for simple blocks. but your right, you would get too much hatemail from "real modders" complaining that they arnt special anymore. So yes, don't bother making it, but i am just saying that it wouldn't be too hard (and that modders are stuck up jerks).
AND programming is way harder then just editing source code to make a mod, because you are doing it FROM SCRATCH. so modders shut up about this "because it will make you just like everyone else". And what, are you so special just because "yay! i edited the minecraft source code and i know a small amount of java!". try learning c++. way harder.

its nothing about being special (and yes i like your name). Its about the common problem here where people on these forums make a easy block and go "I CAN MAKES MODS YES!!!!!" but know nothing about java or how to handle errors and things that doesnt have code they can copy.
As a coder you must see that just being given there code doesnt help them become modders only learning java will help them with that.

yeah, i understand about how "amatuar moddders' could just go crazy and make trillions of tiny blocks, and also how they no nothing about java, except for if they copy the BlockStone.JAVA and rename it etc they can make a new block.
hey I got an idea how about you do this idea (hear me out) but to do it when your making a mod you select thir minecraft.jar, and so you code directly into their .jar, they dont know code you they dont know how to get the stuff theycreated so they cant post them but also, consider rhe people who just want to make their own block because they think its cool, dont get made at them because they dont know code, just say you dont want pointless blocks getting posted dont insult begfiners they have to stary somewhere

yeah i know, when i started it was really 'scary' with all the 'pro' modders bagging beginners out.this has nothing to do with anything, but i just past the limit for posts! cheer me on!
