How do you add an extra slot to the inventory screen, sorta like what they did in the Aether mod (W/ the rings and stuff).
Specifically, I want to different slots for 2 different kinds of items (masks & songs), right under the crafting grid.
If you can help me, I will definitely give you credit.
Adjust InventoryPlayer.java. Don't forget to update readFrom-/writeToNBT and adapt other methods as required.
Check to see if GuiInventory.java needs some changes

I'm still looking for more feedback on my configurable Redstone Gate mod. All gates and common circuits (such as e.g. clocks, edge detectors, latches and Flip-Flops) in a single block.
sorry -- forgot to mention I'm using modloader,
so thant doesn't really work...
Modloader is designed for adding content, not modifying existing content. If you want to modify stuff that's already in Minecraft, you'll have to break from Modloader and change Minecraft's files. There really is no way to change the inventory GUI without following Darquan's method and changing Minecraft's already-existing files. Yes, it's complicated, and I don't think anybody's created a tutorial for it, but failure comes to those who tinker. And if you're good, success comes after that.

This being said, using modloader it is very possible to make an item that represents another inventory or set of inventory slots. It'd be kind of annoying and counter intuitive, but do able. It might also be possible to add a completely separate inventory that opens up when you press a different button from E, but im not sure if modloader has that capability.
