Hey guys, Welsknight here, and I'm very proud to announce the public release of DesignTech, my custom modpack that I have been working on for about 3 or 4 months! DesignTech is a kitchen-sink pack with a heavy focus on decorative blocks, design, and survival building, with enough tech that you will be able to focus on building instead of grinding for resources. This modpack is accompanied by a Youtube Let's Play series, which you will find linked below. I hope you try it out and enjoy it!
Long Description
DesignTech is a kitchen-sink modpack in which the primary focus is building. If you are looking for a challenging pack, a pack with a storyline, or a pack that will kill you, then you have come to the wrong place. However, if you are looking for a pack that you can kick back, relax, and build super-detailed structures both small and large with a vast array of tools and materials at your disposal, then this might just be the pack for you. DesignTech aims to provide a balanced mix of both familiar and under-appreciated mods.
This is not a modpack that was hastily thrown together. Hours have been spent in the configs and in MineTweaker. In addition, every mod within the pack was selected for some reason, whether it be to provide additional materials, textures, and tools for you to build with, or to provide options for automation and quality-of-life improvements so that you can spend more time building and less time grinding. This modpack has been in development for roughly 3-4 months, and I'm quite proud of it (admittedly, I'm a bit biased). I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I do.
This pack contains Fastcraft, by Player, enabled by default. Fastcraft enhances Minecraft with increased performance. Bug reports being made directly to Mod Authors should state Fastcraft is enabled.
All mods are their latest versions as of June 30th, 2015.

Remember, these are just suggestions, you can add all, some, or none of them at all.
1) Harvestcraft - Strongly considered adding this one from the beginning, but decided not to because it wasn't really necessary and wasn't within the focus of the modpack.
2) Binnie Core/Botany - Again, not included because they're outside the focus of the pack (although I am considering Binnie Core + Extra Trees).
3) ExtraBiomesXL - Would cause major conflicts with Biomes O'Plenty.
With that said, you could always add in any of these mods manually (although if you did ExtraBiomesXL you'd probably want to remove Biomes O'Plenty).
I have been using this pack for 2 days, and I want to say good job! The pack is perfect for any building stuff I could ever want to do. Sure, some mods annoy me because of block placement, but that is a mod problem, not a modpack problem.
Just a recommendation:
Make another pack that goes side by side with this for combat, and then a 3rd one for people who use redstone circuitry. Maybe for the third one you could include CC and a bunch of other things. If you had those modpacks, there would be a bit more pack balance, so you would have a pack that will last longer and gain more popularity. Also, sometime, try to make a pack with elements from this pack, but balanced throughout all the parts of MC people like- combat, redstone, building, so on... they need to be balanced for a pack to survive

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy it. I do plan on making more modpacks in the future, but I don't know what the theme of those will be. Definitely a few good suggestions there, though.
Need more information than that if I'm going to fix the problem. What doesn't work? Does it not boot up? Does it crash? What launcher are you using, and which version of the pack? How much RAM are you allocating to Minecraft and what are your PC Specs? Do you have crash logs? etc etc
so while starting it there is the logo of Mojang and Loading - Initializing mods X/7 and it continues and after a while it crashes or stops responding. My PC Intel i3 8gb ram, tried both FTB launcher and Technic launcher
Sounds one of two things: either you're not allocating enough RAM to Minecraft (3-4 GB should be enough), which you have to do in the launcher options, or your computer just isn't up to the task. Honestly, I'd be pretty surprised if an i3 could handle just about anything modded Minecraft beyond a pack that is specifically designed for low-end machines like FTB Lite.

Are you planning on adding creative mode pack? With WorldEdit and such. I've been looking for one to play with friends, but still in process of gathering mods to my list. Seems you're a bit ahead on that.

Not for this modpack since this pack is heavily geared towards survival. However, I've been toying with the idea of making a modpack down the road that is designed with creative mode in mind.
I downloaded the mod pack from FTB, and I have to say I am really enjoying it. However, I am having one problem. I don't know if it is a glitch in my system or a tweak to the mod pack, but I cannot get any of the backpacks from the backpack mod except for the workbench backpack. The recipes are gone, and I cannot craft them. Any ideas? Thanks!

That was an issue in the very early versions of the pack, so make sure you're running the latest version and you should be good to go.
Hello Welsknight, I just wanted to say that the modpack is an amazing modpack. Just the one I was looking for.
I was also wondering if you are going to ever make a server for this modpack? Thats because i find it a little boring
to build by myself sometimes. Please answer back, thanks.

I don't plan to make a public server for it myself (it's just not in the budget), but I'd be happy to provide you the necessary files if you want to start a server for yourself and some friends.

This looks like a great modpack for me! I'll give ya some feedback and some progress I've made, since I seem to have an okay fps rate -
albeit I won't be able to play tomorrow.
I'm planning on building some sort of medieval themed cities and such.
P.S. I subscribed, I really like your content. c:
