Yeah. Are you saying I have to throw it into an empty pool? It doesn't do anything at all with an empty pool... it got eaten by the pool with mana in it, but there was no additional mana.
No, there's supposed to be mana in the pool already. There is an increase in mana, but mana pools have a huge capacity, so it's not noticable.

I've found a bug that I can reproduce that will always crash the client.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Press "u" on an ingot of some material that can be used for Tinker's Construct to open NEI's "Uses" dialog.
2. Use the arrows at the top to go to the TCon "Tool Materials" Info tab for that resource.
3. Click the pickaxe symbol (underneath of the material's icon) in the NEI dialog. Game crashes.
Expected functionality: Return all Tool Materials and their statistics for quick perusal.
Instead: I get a null pointer exception. Yikes.
(Image attached to post - crash occurs when you click the icon I drew an arrow to)
Probably the relevant part of the crash log:

Thanks... Usually I am pretty good at deciphering crash reports, and it seems to be an interaction between TCon and NEI that is causing the crash, but I think it's related to another material that is added by some other mod because I know this functionality works in core TCon (and with extraTiC, too). Hoping maybe you can help me narrow it down?

I found a way to kinda bypass the whole issue of metals for tools, if you're going the TC route for tools
Two of the saplings you can get from The Supplier are Fusewood Sapling and Bloodwood Sapling. A prometheum axe can cut down the fuse wood (watch out for the explosions it causes, and cut only one log at a time). The fusewood planks can be crafted in the part builder for parts strong as iron. Once you have those tools, you can grow a Bloodwood tree (note: you'll need a growing rig or deep pit as they grow upside down). With your fusewood upgraded tools, cut the bloodwood logs. You can then use the bloodwood to upgrade your tools to steel quality. Since Bloodwood trees have a good sapling drop rate, you'll never need to worry about metal scarcity for repairing your tools.
If you need steel for something else though, this won't work obviously -- as Wanderer points out, you'll need to find Manganese.
This works spectacularly. Chances are you can get the Bloodwood sapling in the first 10 sapling bags. It actually happened to be my first. (Though, I actually used an Oureclase Axe to chop mine down, not Ghostwood tools)

the nether trees are probably my favorite materials to make tools out of minus a pick axe for the hard stuff.
you only need a Tool forge to make all of the tools with Nether woods because parts can be made with wood cast, no need to make a smeltery and pour cast for your parts.
Edit: I'm still kinda on the fence on if I love nether trees or think they ruin the challenge of mining progression in the mod pack. thou there are other ways to get around conventional mining progression, like TNT and loot from treasure locations. but its a gamble on getting the sapling you want from the sapling bags.
Hey im really enjoying the pack but I have run into the problem of getting a blood altar. The recipe needs ruby's which I have dont know where to find. and NEI only shows ruby nether ore but the nether is blocked? Anyone know where to find a ruby?
goto the Valcano Island, its basicly what replaces the nether in blightfall, also read the "where to mine" manual from the instructors tab
fair point, if their not obtainable through mining, then your other options are finding one around quest locations, in a treasure chest or even just a existing blood alter, or the laser drill with a red focus should also produce one eventually, if your on a server then trading and the laser drill would be your options if all the quest location and treasure has already been looted
Edit:
Has anyone found a somewhat convenient way of obtaining the wither skeleton.
the ways I've been trying
1: auto spawner with a skeleton and hoping you get lucky
2: Zoologist villager selling mystery filled safari balls, and hoping you get lucky
3: I haven't tried this yet but clearing the nether island and hope it is able to spawn there.
No, there's supposed to be mana in the pool already. There is an increase in mana, but mana pools have a huge capacity, so it's not noticable.
Wow, okay. It takes a full stack of them to fill a mana pool halfway. That's a pretty tiny amount of mana for an item that's found in small quantities in dungeon loot.
Blightfall release 2.1.1 is now available. Here's a copy of the changelog Talonos posted on the Technic site:
Mod Changes:
-Added "Cooking for Blockheads." This should make Pam's Harvestcraft less painful!
-Added HelpFixer. Now you can /help for what little info it gives you.
-Added BetterRain.
-Added ChickenChunks
-Added PurplePanic
-Added PlayerAPI
-Updated ReqCredit.
---Fixes issue with dawn totems "Turning off".
---Fixes a lot of oreDiscovery bugs.
-Updated CustomNPCs.
---See "World changes," below!
Quest Changes:
-Added Emergency Nutrient bar as food requisition instead of jerkies.
-Gold tools cost 6 rep now, making gold ingots obtained from old gold tools as costly as copper.
-Iron tools cost 3 rep now for a similar reason.
-Sunflower seed reward bag now gives a half stack. Because apparantly being unable to plant them is a "feature" according to Pam.
-Tainted players removed from reward bags.
-Smeltery questline rewards you with a black book, given that it doesn't spawn naturally as I expected.
-Fixed spelling mistakes.
-You can requisition a machine gun.
-There is a quest showing you how to build stone guns.
-If you want to cheat, you can get nearly 200 thaumcraft research discoveries for free.
-Botania "Another Path to Purity" fixed.
-Fixed south ocean badge.
Config Changes:
-Emergency Nutrient Bars and now completely immune to diminishing returns, matching their tooltips.
-Diminishing returns tweaked. They now asymtotically approach 16.5% insteaad of 0%. This means bread will decay to a minimum of a half a ham hock, making it possible to eat bread forever. http://i.imgur.com/gM5UYG6.png
-You now get hungry 80% as quickly as vanilla. You still get hungry standing still.
-Food history shortened to 200 ham hocks from 250.
Recipe changes:
-You can now get ender air.
-You can now cook bread in a redstone furnace.
-Metal removed from Grilled Cheese.
-Blood magic now correctly makes diamond stuff other than swords.
World Changes: (Old worlds will have these changes retroactively added!)
-Added cheat platform hub.
-Killed Thyrork. This should make producing eldritch eyes easier.
-Tainted hero now 100% less immortal.

Mana pools have a MASSIVE capacity, the lotuses are actually giving you a fair amount of mana, but the capacity of a mana pool makes it look like it's giving you almost nothing.

Um... the Sunflower Seeds given by the reward bags are the crop, not the seeds. That's probably what Pam meant by it being a feature that you can't plant them. Normally you craft them into the plantable version. Or did Pam decide to disable that recipe on harvestcraft's side for... some reason?

For some reason Pam decided it was a 'feature' to make them unplantable in any form. You just need to go find sunflowers in the world now. You know. The thing you can't do in blightfall. It's...not exactly unsurprising given pam's "decisions" in the past.
