Hey would you like any help updating the mod? I like this mod a lot and seeing it on 1.12 would be awesome and I think great for seeing more people using it! I don't think it would be terribly hard to update it to 1.12 either, and I have experience doing so. Please let me know if you'd be open to it!
Also, if you're on Discord, I'm elu#5251. Hit me up!
I've made 21 mods for 1.8+ versions. I have experience.
As a developer I honestly think it's a bad idea to maintain both versions. It's a hugely more taxing development paradigm, you essentially have to implement every new feature you make two separate times, and it slows down progression of the mod. It might bring it to a slightly larger playerbase but at the same time it also kills progress towards new features like nothing else. I would pick one or the other and honestly I think Wizardry would make a far greater splash in 1.12 where magic is scant compared to any previous version.
But 1.7 is the version with more content at this point still, so as a player I don't blame people staying.
Thank you for the offer! I'm well aware of your modding experience, your mods are pretty hard to miss when looking around curseforge and the forums. I'd have to get a github repository set up so you can help out, so I'll look into doing that as soon as I have the time. If you could give me a quick explanation of how github works in relation to modding specifically (I know the basics of how it works in general), that would be greatly appreciated.
I don't have discord at the moment... maybe I should get it?
Edit: I probably need to do some housekeeping on the code as well, it's covered with TODOs at the moment!
Wizardry 2.1.0 is now available to download for Minecraft 1.10.2. This is a full release for 1.10.2, meaning it is finally out of beta, and development versions will be available shortly. Most of the changes from 1.10.2 Beta 3 are bugfixes and under-the-hood improvements, but there are a few places where these have surfaced as file name changes, so if you have a resource pack that changes wizardry's assets it may need tweaking (full details in the changelog).
In addition, there are two changes to commands:
- The /cast command now uses NBT format for spell modifiers - for example, where before you might have typed /cast magic_missile 1.5 2, you would now type /cast magic_missile {damage:1.5, range:2}. This is mainly intended to make things more readable.
- Entity names are now lowercase_with_underscores, like the vanilla ones are in Minecraft 1.12+.
Neither of these changes affects the 1.7.10 version (yet).
As with all updates from now on, this version requires Java 8 or newer.
As far as I'm concerned, 1.10.2 is now done with other than bugfixes, and I am now ready to start work on 1.11.2 and 1.12.2. Hooray!
(P.S. The reason it's 2.1.0 is because I've decided to make the first number represent the Minecraft version, so Wizardry 2.x.x means Minecraft 1.10.x.)
I'm pleased to announce that wizardry is now open-source! The source jars were available for some versions already, but now there's a proper GitHub repository set up so you can browse, fork and submit issues and PRs (If you do fork the repo, be sure to read the license over on GitHub). For now, only the 1.10.2 code is on there, but I will endeavour to get the 1.7.10 code on there as well. You can find the GitHub repository here.
In the near future, I will be moving the issue tracker (and possibly the documentation) over to GitHub, and I'll copy the existing issues into there as well. In the meantime, I would appreciate it if you posted issues there and not on curseforge, it'll make my life easier. Thanks!
A lot of mods seem to have them these days, and several people have asked, so...
Wizardry now has a discord server! Now you have yet another way to pester me about updates... just kidding! Come and join, say hi and chat to me and other fellow wizards.
In other news, 1.11.2 is nearly ready for release - you can keep track of progress over on GitHub.

Sounds good. I won't have to pester you for downgrades since you realize a nice chunk plays 1.7.10 still. Not like "cough" melonslice "cough" who tells everyone to update.
Wizardry 3.1.0 for Minecraft 1.11.2 is now available to download! Get it over on curseforge!
It's already a full release this time, because there shouldn't be too many bugs sneaking around. As always, please report any bugs you do find on the issue tracker - which, as you may notice, now has a new home over on GitHub. You'll need a GitHub account to post an issue there.
As with all new versions now, this one requires Java 8.
I spawned close to a wizard tower and decided to pop over after a few days to trade. However the resident wizard attacked me on sight, unprovoked.
Are there certain wizards who won't trade with you? Or did I do something to offend him (decided to come in through a wall before I found the door).
Playing on v2.1.2 for 1.10.2 - love the concept can't wait to get further into the mod!
There are good wizards and bad wizards. The bad wizards are hostile and don't trade, but they do drop spell books. If it was a good wizard, did you break any of the tower? Cause that angers them.
Approximately how long till we get a 1.12 update? I am compiling a Medieval themed modpack and this mod would fit perfectly in with it.

There was just a massive merge made to the repo with 1.12 changes. Like a ton. I feel for the modder, really. I hope the eventual conversion to 1.13 doesn't take nearly that much work.
That being said, who knows. I've seen modders reach the 99% complete mark and just fall off the face of the earth for several months because, y'know, life. But the merge is a good sign.
Hey, I just wanted to know whether or not this would conflict heavily with ars magica 2 and/or PSI.

It should be absolutely fine. Just because they're magic mods doesn't make them any more likely to conflict with each other.
add battlemages that wear better armors and have swords that can cast spells
hey you can put in confg file to adjust the wand max number of upgrades or durability of equipments?

Yes, what arisalanna said ^ I should probably make the modpack policy more prominent, sorry.
