I'm not really a fan of not updating my mod-packs or supporting older versions. 1.12 has been released yesterday and I'm still working on new features for the official release. Updating my mod to 1.12 might take a lot of time so if I ever grab enough time, I'll eventualy downgrade my mod.
Changelog:
- added survival mode support
-- you can now craft all slabs(except 3 types from usually unobtainable blocks)
-- you can craft slabs back into full blocks by putting two pieces of slabs on the crafting table*
-- all block drops are equal to slabs' full blocks meaning silk touch applies to glass-like slabs
- added a few 'basic' blocks
-- bookshelf, brick, mossy cobblestone, obsidian, netherrack, clay, snow, stone brick (including variants), nether brick and end stone slabs
- fixed a few bugs and glitches
-- fixed spruce planks slab looking like vertical spruce log slab
-- fixed having this mod's slabs in your hands making glitches on the screen where the hunger bar is
-- fixed glass slab being considered a full block by the game engine
Note:
Crafting slabs is very strict! To craft them, you have to fill the FIRST ROW with a full block to make slabs from this mod. Otherwise, it won't work.
great great mod :D, thanks for making it. All these slabs really help with my building.
Just two things:
when I place down a grass slab in a snow biome it automatically turns to a snowy one, this can be very annoying so maybe put in a sperate snowy grass one and delete that mechanic
Also, there is a lit lantern slab but not a regular one, a regular one would be nice
Thanks
P.S. Since you made this mod I assume you have the skills to make the same for stairs as well (as in have them as all blocks as well), that would be incredible!
Hey, glad you like it!
1) The way that mechanic works is it looks for surrounding 'snow-like' blocks (ie. snowy grass block, snow block, snow layer...) and then applies snowy textures onto it. I'll add an option in the configuration file to disable it. Thanks for that idea.
2) Yeah, I kinda hurried the latest update so I ended up not implementing the unlit version of it because I had to do lots of Redstone-related code which I don't fancy, frankly. It will be added, I just do not know when.
3) I thought about it but I do not know if I will have enough time to make it. That aside, I do now know what is the best way to implement them; I kinda like the vanilla mechanic of auto-corner stairs but at the same time hate it and there are just too many possibilities the way stairs can be placed (4 rotations on z axis, 4 rotations on x axis, upside down, shape (normal. inner and outer corner)). Combined, I would have 4x4x2x3=96 DIFFERENT models/states (probably, I do not know, it is hard to visualize all the possibilities). But if I ever end up getting a good idea on how to implement them, I will. But for now, I want to finish Better Slabs Mod (I am not that far away from doing that).
Sweeet
I just want to dig a small hole and stay in it now....
Hello, where can I found the download for the 1.10.2 version?
The newest version 0.0.1 (0.0.2 in a couple of minutes) is for 1.11.2. Versions below this one aren't supported. Sorry
UPDATE 0.0.2:
Changelog:
- revamped the version checker
-- now notifies you if your mod version is ancient, old, or somehow from the future, I don't know how
- added messages on world join
-- sends you a personalized message by me
-- also sends you a link to this post to download the latest version if you're running an old one.
- implemented axis modes
-- similar to placement modes
-- allows easier placements for blocks like logs (and pillars in the future)
- tweaked key bindings
-- F9 circles around placement modes
-- F10 circles around axis modes
- added all types of woods and their corresponding leaves
-- GLITCH: Some logs have weird stretched textures
-- GLITCH: All leaves have different color applied and don't work with FAST graphics
- added all colored blocks
-- prepared the code for 1.12
- internal optimizations
- WIP feature (disabled) - GHOST BLOCKS
-- a see-through slab of all mod's slabs are visible when about to be placed (helps you place them)

Is there a 1.8.9 version of this?
Nope, nor will there ever be. 1.8.9 is ancient.

Is there a 1.8.9 version too??
Nope. That version was released in December 2015. That was one and a half years ago. I'm not planning to support an ancient version like that.
Thats understandable. But where can i download it?
There isn't a 1.8.9 version of this mod.
Wow amazing! Can I repost it in Chinese forum(MCBBS)?

Thanks! Sure, just send me the link to the post after you're done 😀

A new version 0.0.6 has been released!!!
Changelog:
- improved the configuration file
-- allows you to change some mod rules
- added new bugs
-- also fixed some bugs
- some optimizations and code changes (well the code changes for the most part)
I recommend you upload this mod to Curse. It's much easier to manage, and you can keep older versions, for the people who liked them.
mmm
It already is
