Most likely, you used "add mod" instead of "add to minecraft.jar" (which used to be labeled "add jar mod" and that's what's in the screenshot). You need to use "add to minecraft.jar" to install WDL.
i used "add to minecraft.jar" button.. i did the instructions word for word.. i tried 1.14.4_WDL then i tried 1.15.2_WDL and on both tries when i pause the game i dont see the download world button

Please force a game crash by holding F3+C ingame for ten seconds, and then upload the generated crash to e.g. pastebin and send a link. I'll be able to diagnose further with that information.
I would like to start being able to use this mod again. However Multimc the only way you can use worlddownloader. And Multimc is extreamly unstable giving me extremely low fps when even running it on vanilla game settings. When I can run a vanilla snapshot and game w/o any optifine with no issues. I would have to say the issue is with multimc it's self. I would like to see this ported to fabric.

Well, that's just odd; MultiMC shouldn't make a noticeable difference in performance. Most likely, this is related to MultiMC using a different folder and thus different game settings, with your normal MC install having settings (e.g. render distance) set differently from the MultiMC one. Additionally, you might have changed game settings for the normal launcher which MultiMC didn't inherit, such as the max amount of RAM to allocate. One last thing to check is that the JVM being used is the same; you might be using 32-bit Java in MultiMC or something (this can be checked ingame by looking at the right side of F3). If all of that seems the same, try reporting an issue and someone might be able to help.
It is also possible to install WDL without MultiMC, but it's a rather complicated process. (And, I'm aware that this isn't why you commented; a fabric port will come at some point but hopefully this will help in the meantime).
Is this allowed on servers? I want to make a private server with my friends where we play private bedwars games without lag. Can I use this to take the maps from hypixel?
Is this allowed on servers? I want to make a private server with my friends where we play private bedwars games without lag. Can I use this to take the maps from hypixel?
Servers can have their own policies on it; the best answer I can give is to ask an admin or check their rules. Some servers may kick or ban you if you use it (which I consider bad form on their part, since they can do it before you've even seen the rules), so keep that in mind. I don't know hypixel's specific rules on the subject, but I think that they're fine with personal use (especially of things you've built yourself) but would frown on commercial use. (In general, look up fair use in US law). I maintain WDL for the specific case of making backups of your own builds, and don't really focus on other uses.
That said, as a practical concern, just downloading the map would not let you play minigames. WDL only handles the map, and cannot handle plugins or similar. You could try to find a replacement plugin to implement bedwars, but that would require additional set-up. It's probably not going to work well in this case.
There's a new plugin called Anti-WorldDownloader that blocks people from joining servers with this mod. This is quite annoying when I worked on this base and want to enjoy it later. Please, try to find a bypass for this plugin.
Have you tried something like Schematica? That saves the template of the building then you can save it on their website for future builds...

Hi Pokechu22, thanks for continuing this great mod, and thanks for being so active in responding to comments!
I think the instructions for installing the base edit file as a launcher profile may be outdated and/or confusing. Mainly the issue is that the layout and content of the .json looks like they've changed. I wasn't able to get it working by following them directly as written--the new launcher profile ran the game fine, but there was no option in the pause menu for World Downloader. The reason I didn't want to use MultiMC was that I don't have Java installed and am just running Minecraft with the bundled JRE.
I looked at it a little closer and did eventually get it working, so I wrote down new instructions, plus some screenshots. They might still not be the clearest, but maybe they can be useful.
1. In the first post of the World Downloader thread, find the section titled "Downloads". Click on the link for the Minecraft version you're trying to use.
2. On the GitHub page this takes you to, click on and download the base edit file for your Minecraft version. (It should contain the word "baseedit" and "mc#.#.#.zip", where #.#.# is your Minecraft version number.)
3. Go to your ".minecraft" folder, then go into "versions". Create a copy of the folder for the correct Minecraft version and rename it to "#.#.#.wdl".
4. Open this folder. Rename the two .jar and .json files here to "#.#.#.wdl . jar" and "#.#.#.wdl . json".
5. In your text editor of choice, open #.#.#.wdl . json. You need to edit 2 things:
"downloads" section: This section contains 4 subsections, "client", "client_mappings", "server", and "server_mappings". It will be near the top of the .json file, will start with
7. Open #.#.#.wdl . jar with 7-Zip or another archive manager and delete the folder "META-INF".
8. Copy all the files from the World Downloader zip file that you downloaded in Step 2 into the .jar. Overwrite and merge folders if it prompts you to.
9. Start the Minecraft Launcher. Click "Installations" at the top, create a new profile, and select "#.#.#.wdl" in the "version" dropdown.

Thanks for writing this up! I've added your instructions to the main post. Yeah, the old instructions have gotten a bit outdated and confusing over the years. The version JSON format has definitely changed; in particular it no longer has the whitespace which makes it a lot harder to read (but for machine purposes saves a fair bit of space, and I'm guessing bandwidth for Mojang).
The download of my world went fine, but now I can't seem to find the download itself. Where do I find it and how do I open it in a single player world?
Will you ever make a liteloader version for 1.15.2? Because I cannot figure out how to use the other one
(For the record, the trouble using it was resolved elsewhere). I'm working on forge and fabric ports for 1.15.2, but don't have anything fully done yet. Liteloader is not being updated anymore, so I won't be targeting it.

You should be able to see it by selecting singleplayer after downloading the world instead of multiplayer when launching WDL. If you're using multimc, the game is running in a separate folder from your normal install (a subfolder of where you have multimc installed, instead of in appdata). You can easily find that folder by first selecting "edit world" in the singleplayer list and then selecting "Open World Folder". By default, there will also be a zipped copy of the world in your backups folder (but that will be in the same multimc folder).

Could you please fix both bugs?
Also, is there any formal documentation for overwriting entities in a downloaded world?
Because sometimes, entities like cows and itemframes didn’t save properly when saving and updating a old world download to the latest version that was on the server. Causing them to loss any entities whenever updating the download.
I have to download and save for like, up to 2-3 times for it to be properly saved.
And what about moving around and overwriting the copy that I have?
Also, item frames become dislodged from their placement. Everytime I stop the download. And got misaligned with the block that they are on. (E.g. Chest) Could you explain why does this happen and is it possible to fix this bug?
And for the time being, another question: are they any hack clinics that works with world downloader? I need one that has kill aura so that I can afk while auto walk during the nightime.

You are not being ignored, and even if you are then there's The reason: pokechu22 does "not support clients intended for cheating". And as for me this is valid reason to not help.
hello, i did everything mentioned in the screenshots (MultiMC instructions) i named the file "1.15.2_WDL" i put "WDL" in the group i selected 1.15.2 as a version.. then i edited the instance and added the world downloader zip file and i launched it... but when i pause in game i never see the option to download the world.. even on a server that i run it didnt show up.. what am i doing wrong?
Most likely, you used "add mod" instead of "add to minecraft.jar" (which used to be labeled "add jar mod" and that's what's in the screenshot). You need to use "add to minecraft.jar" to install WDL.

Full instructions with screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/YLqClkW
Text instructions:
Rename the two .jar and .json files here to "#.#.#.wdl . jar" and "#.#.#.wdl . json".
5. In your text editor of choice, open #.#.#.wdl . json. You need to edit 2 things:
and will end with
Delete all of this section. (See https://i.imgur.com/HHckF19.png for details)
with #.#.# being the original version number. Add ".wdl" to the end of that number. (See https://i.imgur.com/zpYeTta.png)
6. Save these changes. (Should look like https://i.imgur.com/Pigx1E5.png)
Thank you!

Will you ever make a liteloader version for 1.15.2? Because I cannot figure out how to use the other one
The download of my world went fine, but now I can't seem to find the download itself. Where do I find it and how do I open it in a single player world?
By default, there will also be a zipped copy of the world in your backups folder (but that will be in the same multimc folder).

plz help will this work on a realm?
You want to use mod-worlddownloader-baseedit-4.0.6.2-mc1.15.2.zip since if you're using realms, you're on 1.15.2. Instructions on how to install the baseedit versions can be found on the main post, section installation instructions (the easiest way is to use multimc and "add to minecraft.jar").
I haven't tested with realms, but it should work (perhaps apart from the world's name being somewhat random). If not, let me know.

Hello, When I tried to run WDL with Wurst for mc1.15.2 on multimc on windows. Minecraft Crashed when I press esc:
However, It runs well on lubuntu. Instead, the Wrust button replaced the WDL Button on the esc menu.
Edit: It’s been more then a week. Pls don’t ignore me just because for reasons...
Thanks cathedrals & pokechu22
Very helpful
You are not being ignored, and even if you are then there's The reason: pokechu22 does "not support clients intended for cheating". And as for me this is valid reason to not help.
