The problem:
Mobs with Fire ability seem way too common and way overpowered. I kept getting attacked by what seemed to be multiple Fire mobs at a time. A group of three or four zombies can reduce me to 1-2 hearts of health, despite full (leveled) armor, in a matter of seconds even if I kill them all before any of them has actually landed a blow on me. Even when I resorted to setting enemyAbilities=false, I am STILL getting at least about two out of three mobs with Fire ability or possibly Molten armor. It's pretty excessive. I'd really hate to have to completely turn off mob leveling.
Is the enemyAbilities setting known to actually work?
(I mean, really, three out of four mobs I fight are setting me on fire. I hardly dare fight anything more than three or four steps from water, because even if the mob never lands a hit on me, the odds are good I'll burn to death. Fer cryin' out loud, I killed a stray donkey for the leather and it set me on fire.)
Feature request:
It would be cool if Molten armor protected against Frost and Frozen abilities, and Frozen armor protected against Fire and Molten abilities.

Yes, Chained will do that - though it shouldn't be damaging itself. It could very well be a bug and I'll look into it. I doubt I'll be able to get an immediate bug fix out at the moment, considering all of the changes/re-writing is currently under-going however. If it becomes a big issue, I'll look into pushing a build out in a day or two.

Oh, absdolutely, Major rewrite comes first. But you know to look out for it while rewriting.
In the meantime I've managed to get a reasonably-good uncommon Slashblade katana to max level without picking up Chained, so I'm decently armed without current risk of self-immolation.
I've changed the config to turn on durability loss, but my weapons are not losing durability past the first 2 points. i.e., a weapon with 1800 durability, goes to 1798 and stays there, regardless.

I'll look into it. I'm doing a bunch of tests right now for the majority of the re-written mod, and will make sure the durability is working properly. It also could very well be your rarity providing bonuses, but I don't really know your circumstance.

Not right now. When I finish re-writing the mod, I might throw in a command to remove abilities and such.

Hello, I have been following the development of this mod for a number of months. I have noticed the Chained bug setting things on fire, and saw that you were working on a re-write of the mod. Is there a hotfix for the chaining bug? I have disabled that ability in the config by putting the chance to 0 and range to 0 however it is not working as I still receive damage. I am very interested in this mod and would love to continue using it! Last post was a few months ago so any updates you have would be great, too!

Is there a way to remove an ability from items that you don't want? The effect spread/share ability in particular is annoying in a MP co-op environment especially when fire gets spread...

I'd like to suggest that you add a craftible item instead of a command so that anyone on a survival server can remove skills.

Tinkers' Construct and Levels together seems to be your issue.
I'll consider it; not too sure how I would want to go about implementing it another way.

Hello, I have been following the development of this mod for a number of months. I have noticed the Chained bug setting things on fire, and saw that you were working on a re-write of the mod. Is there a hotfix for the chaining bug? I have disabled that ability in the config by putting the chance to 0 and range to 0 however it is not working as I still receive damage. I am very interested in this mod and would love to continue using it! Last post was a few months ago so any updates you have would be great, too!
