Colorful Mobs aims to diversify your Minecraft world through the addition of a new and simplistic color mechanic. This new color mechanic allows all entities to be colored, which will change how they appear in game. Colorful Mobs uses the RGBA system for coloring mobs, which means players have access to 16777216 different colors, along with a varying degree of transparency.
Features:
- Mobs can spawn in the world naturally with any random color!
- Dye Powder which can be used to dye any mob!
- Dyed mobs will drop a Dye Powder with the same color that mob had.
- Random Dye which can be used to apply a random color to a mob.
- Ghost Dust which can be used to make mobs transparent.
- Color Wand, a tool for setting precise color settings.
- The ability for only certain mobs to spawn with color effects. [Disabled by default]
- The ability to dye other players! [disabled default]
- Fully working on both Client, Server and Lan!
- Fully functioning config file, and in game config GUI.
- Brand new achievements!
- New dungeon loot.
Items:
Dye Powder
Dye Powder can appear in any of the 16 777 216 RGB colors. When used on a mob, the color effect will be applied to that mob. By default, when a dyed mob is killed, it will drop a Dye Powder which represents the color that mob had, that color can then be applied to another entity. Any of the sixteen vanilla colors can be made, simply combine string, paper and a dye, as shown below. This recipe can also use most dyes from other mods. Pure white dye can be used to restore a mob to its natural colors, and for making a copy of a non-white dye. To copy a colored dye, simply put it in a crafting table, along with another any number of pure white dye powder, this recipe is shapeless.

Rainbow Dust
The Rainbow Dust is a special variant on the the normal Dye Powder. When Rainbow Dust is used on an entity, it will color the target mob in a random color. The rainbow dust can not be crafted, however it can commonly be found in dungeon chests, stronghold libraries, desert temples, bonus chests, and the jungle temple dispensers. Rainbow Dust is an essential item for creating and repairing the Color Wand. It is possible to change the possible chest locations in the configuration file, along with the weighting of the rainbow dust, which is 10 by default.
Invisibility Powder (Ghost Dust)
Invisibility powder, also refereed to as Ghost Dust is a special dye variation which allows players to edit the transparency of mobs. When applied to a mob, the mob will become about 20% more transparent. While the Invisibility Powder only has one use, you may use multiple Invisibility powder on the same mob to make it even more transparent.

Data Checker
The Data Checker is a utility item which can be used to check information on a specific entity. Simply right click on the entity you would like to check, and a message will be sent to your chat containing the Red, Green and Blue value, along with the Transparency and the entity name. While the entity name may seem a little out of place, it is used by the configuration file and will likely be a very useful tool to help those configuring the mod.

Color Wand
The Color Wand is a powerful item which allows the user to set a specific color to any mob in the world. This item allows for the Red Green Blue and Transparency of the target mob to be changed. This item can be crafted using rainbow dust and a normal stick. Color Wand has a durability of 16, one durability will be used, every time the player right clicks on a mob. (even if they chose not to set a color) The color wand can be repaired using Rainbow Dust.

FaQ:
Q: When I use the Color Wand, some entities are very large and render out side of the preview, what is going on here?
A: Unfortunately, some entities are really big, and when we render them inside of our gui, they take up too much space. We are currently looking into how we can fix this issue.
Q: When I look in the Creative Menu, I find these "Random Dye Powder" items, and they change color every time?
A: To help expose users to a wide range of colors, we have added some special code which changes how the item works in the creative tab. There are several colors which will always show up, these are the ones with the normal names. The rest of them have are the same item, however they have all been given a randomly generated color. The color for these random powders changes every time you open the creative tab.
Q: Does this work on mobs from other mods?
A: This mod has support for all living entities in the game, this includes mobs from other mods such as Lycanites and Mo' Creatures. Due to how some mods render their entities, it is possible for the color effects added by this mod to be overridden, or be less visible, unfortunately there is nothing we can do about that, however this is a very rare situation.
Additional Mod Support:
While this mod should work with any mob from any other mod, there are several mods which we have special support for. If you have any suggestions for new features we can add, please let us know!
When the Thaumcraft mod is installed, the following features will be available.
Wand Focus: Pinkus
This wand focus will allow players to pinkify mobs by using their Thaumcraft wands. This focus costs Ordo and Ignis to use, and will target the mob the player is looking at. Occasionally the spell will be disrupted, causing other near by mobs to get pinkified. This focus is created through infusion recipes, and requires that the infusion research be unlocked before you can create it. The following infusion recipe is used to create this focus.
When the Waila mod is installed, players will be able to see the color values for mobs within the Waila hud. These values are only shown when the player is holding a Data Checker, however you can disable that requirement in the built in Waila configuration GUI. You can also turn this feature off completely from the waila config gui.
When the Lucky Blocks mod is installed, users will have the option to craft a new Lucky Block variant called the Colorful Lucky Block. This new lucky block has several outcomes specific to the Colorful Mobs mod. Possible outcomes include: A new Colorful Lucky Block to be placed, a reversion back into the normal lucky block, a random vanilla mob spawning, with a random color value, several random dyes spawning, a color explosion which changed the color of all mobs within a small radius, 3-50 chickens spawning, each with a random color, and no result. This lucky block can be created by surrounding a normal lucky block with any basic (vanilla type) dye, or any item which is registered as a basic dye in the Ore Dictionary.

You must have appropriate permissions for every other mod within your pack.
Colorful Mobs looks great! Maybe add mod support to it? (Primitive Mobs, Enderzoo, Lycanite's Mobs, etc.) Also, first
Thanks, glad you like the mod. Colorful Mobs actually supports all mobs, including those from mods. This means you can dye mobs from the mentioned mods without doing anything special. Check out some screenshots I posted below

Awesome mod! I had a ton of fun goofing around with this mod painting random mobs. I made a showcase video about it, hope you enjoy it. I am a bit spastic though.

This mod looks great! I was speechless when you mentioned that it worked for mobs from other mod . Maybe you should mention them in the main post and add some screenshots for the colored modded mobs so people might get more fascinated. Definitely going to try out this mod! The thread is also well organized and informative too

Yes, it is possible for us to update it to 1.8 with relative ease, however we have no intention of doing so within the immediate future. The modding community will not be moving to 1.8 any time soon, and the development team personally does not feel that it is ready to move on.
Sadly it doesn't work with pixelmon, and I know you can't fix that.
Unfortunately it does not look like I can fix it on our end. This is due to how they render their models. I am in the pixelmon dev skype, so I will see what I can do from their end.
Please add a 1.6.2 version! This mod is clearly epic and amazingly amazing!
Thanks, I am glad you like the mod. Unfortunately we don't have any plans to backport our mod to 1.6 right now, however it's not completely out of the question. A backport should take little work, however all of the Epoxide devs are short on time right now.
