I haven't played against the Frostmaw, only seen a showcase or two about it. I really love the design, and how well done he is. I only have one problem. From what I can tell, he's fairly weak against someone who would rather use a ranged weapon than fight him in melee. It seems like almost all of your other creations have some way to handle this, except this guy. If that's not the case, then I just haven't witnessed his countermeasures.
If he doesn't have a way to handle said play style, please read on.
I was thinking of a gap closer attack. I have a few suggestions that could either be used on their own, or perhaps combined in some way.
1. Something like a charge (similar to "Icehowl" from WoW)
2. A ground "pummel" which causes an earthquake-like effect in a straight line toward the player which then could pop up a 1-3 block high pillar behind the player, or knock them a few blocks into the air (perhaps even in the direction of the Frostmaw).. not enough to damage them, but maybe enough to give the Frostmaw time to get closer?
3. A Hulk-esque leap + ground smash attack toward the player, and could even add a 1-3 block radius earthquake around the landing zone for some extra "fun" and light damage.
These/this attack(s) would only happen if they were X amount of blocks away from the Frostmaw, actual distance TBD.
Nothing too detrimental, just some things to make him more agile and less of a target for those who would rather "admire" him from a distance.
Hey Mowzie, what about add creatures to the ocean biome?
Oceans in Minecraft tend to be very boring without much to do there.
I'm not sure about his appearance, maybe something like a pupperfish-frog mix? idk. His main attack method could be something like, when you are on the shore within its range, it goes on land and pulls you with his tongue into the ocean, but if you are already in there it he inhales you into his mouth and tryes to drown you by swimming deeper.
I'm sorry if it is not interesting enough, it was just a little idea I had about what an ocean biome creature could be.

From a player's perspective, that doesn't sound very fun at all to have something drag you so far under the ocean that you drown. Not to mention recovering your stuff after dying would be pretty much impossible.

True, but any mob you fight in the ocean already makes impossible to recovering your stuff anyway.
I saw your idea for a village with hostile npcs, and my mind went instantly to the Goblins! mod. It was released at around the time of version 1.2.5 of Minecraft, and I think it would be kind of cool if you recycled some of the characteristics of the goblins from that mod and then implemented them into this mod as nearly entirely different mobs, with a much different village.
its me again! and i have an idea for another NORMAL mob, believe it or not!
Stonerax Worm: a small worm at lives in a group of two to three inside clumps of Condensed Stone, a semi-rare block that occurs naturally in world generation. if you try to mine it, it will poke its head out and bite you. its head is about the size of 1 pixel, so shouldn't be hard to make XD
Also, swords are useless against these worms, they can only take one damage at a time.
Death animation:
Their head goes squish. kinda obvious, amiright?
How to kill:
Stand back, punch the block and the worm will poke its head out and try to bite you. just squish it.
Varieties:
Overworld (1 hit kill, drops coal/lapis)
Nether (2 hit kill, drops quartz/ghast tears)
End (3 hit kill, drops Ender Pearls, only spawns in ender islands)
Sturdy Stone:
Can craft 4 together to make a diamond.
Sturdy Netherrack: craft 4 together to make 16 nether Brick.
Sturdy End Stone: Craft 4 together to make 32 purpur Bricks
Usefull drops:
In the center of the Sturdy Stone, there is always a Worm Nest. these only generate in the overworld and can be placed with a single worm automatically inside. this little worm is tame, and likes to wriggle around inside the little bowl-shaped nest. this block is a decor/utility, and feeding the worm some dirt gives you bone meal. once you've right click the bowl with dirt, however, it takes about a minute. this does, however, give you 10 bonemeal, so its worth it XD
Seems pretty balanced. I don't exactly see the point, but then again, I don't see any reason not to.

As usual, thanks for the wonderful creations!
You're right, this was a bit of an oversight. All good ideas, I have to think about which one fits it best.

Oh, for sure. I just have other priorities at the moment.
Hm, this doesn't strike me as the best addition. Sorry.
quick question! what will be the next creature? and will it be released soon?
Next, I have to focus on bugfixes and version ports. I may make some small tweaks to freshen up older mobs. As for the next mob, I'd like to create some less complicated additions so I can get them done sooner and flesh out the mod a bit more. I'll move back to the bigger ideas later.
No, I'm afraid I'm on a break while I work on other projects.
How about the Frostmaw shooting ice balls (kinda like hail) at far players and freeze their main hand and give slowness for a couple of seconds, the possibility of him doing the attack encreases as you go further from it.
So that players with bows either have to go near it and swordfight and be brave or go home cowardly with empty hands.
(The slowness helps the Frostmaw get near the players).

It's coming. Not sure how long, though.
This is exactly what the Barakoa are?

I have a minor suggestion. The Ice Relic currently has no effect outside of combat, but it would be neat if it froze water. It could also maybe create a layer of snow when used on more solid blocks. I was impressed by the geomancy item, especially by the fact that you can stand on the larger boulders and ride them, so I figured more little details like that would be nice.
Other than that, I just have to say that you've done an amazing job, and that this is shaping up to be one of the best mob mods out there. When I saw the Frostmaw in the planned mob section a few months ago, I never imagined it would be as spectacular and awe inspiring as it was when I first encountered it. Other people have already suggested how to fix his weakness to ranged attacks, so I really have nothing to offer other than to say good job. The detail put into the monster's roar is particularly awesome.
Hey Bob Mowzie, can you please add the frostmaw to 1.7.10. The only reason I would like this is because it would be epic for the frostmaw to battle against the snow beast and the alpha yeti(from legendary beasts and twilight forest). These mods haven't yet updated to 1.11.2. Thank you very much!
So I've not been on this forum much but I noticed that you (mowzie) said that you were going to do some non-boss battle mobs so I felt like it would be cool to suggest a creature similar to the barokoa:
The "Swalefish" (just the name I came up for them, its pretty terrible so if you like this creature feel free to get rid of the name)
these fish-like inhabitants of the swamp biome live around "swamp spires" small little dungeons that spawn in the water of swamp biomes (they are very run-down but have ramshackle structures built all over them by the "Swalefish" who live in and around these structures building their buildings off the spires, they attack you if you get near the spires leaping out of the water to hit you with their axes and spears, if they get to half health they dive under water and switch weapons (from axe to spear or vice versa) meaning they can go from a close range melee battler to a long-rang spear thrower
mid-battle. they have about the same health as a zombie. they can also breath on land and underwater. (even though I don't play this mod very often I absolutely love it!)
Mowzie you said that the next update is going to focus on minor additions, what i got from that was that your refining your mod (by adding "ambient" mobs or polishing existing ones).
So here are some things that would make for great additions, wether you like them or not is obviously your choice:
~Frostmaw shoots frozen projectiles ❄ for arrow users. My idea is in your responses.🔝
~Frostmaw breaks packed ice, this is purely astethic just imagine Frostmaw chasing you while breaking massive pillars of Ice in the Ice Spikes biome. EPIC!!!(also he doesn't get stuck between the Ice pillars).
~More non boss like mobs would be cool (Foliath is a perfect example).
I'll throw in an idea just for the sake of it, there is a rare chance that a little cave spawns near a Frostmaw inside the nest there are tiny cute white fluffs the Forstmaw's babies you can tame one and keep it as a pet...
Love your mod, kinda obssesed with It 😂 keep It up with the excellent work.
Sure, yeah. I'll think about it.
Unfortunately, I hate mob griefing. Imagine the hideous floating blocks this would leave behind.
We discussed this earlier in the thread. The issue is that the game can't reward players simply for finding the nest. Such a valuable companion should be a reward for a challenge. Not sure what, though.
Thanks!

Oh, that's a good thought. Thanks.
Glad you like it!

Unfortunately, the mod took a year to port forward to 1.7.10. It would take half as long to port it back. The main issue is that structures changed completely and had to be remade from scratch. I won't make this switch again. Sorry.
So I've not been on this forum much but I noticed that you (mowzie) said that you were going to do some non-boss battle mobs so I felt like it would be cool to suggest a creature similar to the barokoa:

This could be neat, but I feel like the mob's mechanics should play heavier on it's unique amphibious theme, not just the tribal theme.
He didn't do them himself, but yes. He did work on them. This mod, (mowzies mobs) is entirely his work. (I think.)

Q: What takes you the most time sorted from the least to the most:
-Modelling
-A.I.
-Textures
-Animations
-Importing to mc(Well, this one shouldn't take too much time for someone who knows how to make mods)
-Making the mod public
-Fixing Cristal Skuttlers(Horrible pun, I wanted to say fixing bugs)
-Generated structures for the mobs(like the Wroughnaughtchhhgcghcgchchg's chamber and the barakoa village)
-If I missed any, feel free to add them
I really don't know. I've never timed any step of the process.

I have some ideas for some mobs that would be encountered in the forest. The forest biome seems to not have that much for itself, as there is no real special things for the regular forest/ birch forest/ flower forest.
IDEA#1:PLATFORM MOBS
the first idea is for a mob that you would have to have a special item to deal with. Floating above the trees of the forest is a strange, wooden, floating creature. It has a pistachio like shell with spikes on it, two little claw arms on it, and is helicoptering around on leaves at the top of his shell. As it flies around it will sometimes be holding a rare item in its hands. However you can not get the items or even hurt them regularly. Try to hit it with your sword? It flies away and laughs. Shoot it with a bow? It bounces of of the shell. Drop down on it? The spiny shell hurts you and he laughs. If you also drop a shiny object on the ground, one with no object swoops down and will grab it and laugh as it flies away! … However, if you just hold it in your hands it will follow you. Eventually you will be able to craft some sort of object like a grappling rope that allows you to climb up blocks. But if you use it on one of those floaters, you will suddenly be hooked onto the bottom of it and use it as a platform that you can swing between. If it has an item, you will get the item after you cling onto it! You can also kill them by hitting them after you get on it.
IDEA#2: TAMABLE MINI BOSS
let’s picture a scene: you just downloaded the mowzies mobs mod and spawned in a forest biome.you find that scattered around the ground are strange leaf blocks and when you break them you get strange berries that 50% of the time give you effects for 10 secs. These little red blueberry looking berries with leaves that give you strength, light green raspberry ones with a springy stem that give you jump boost, and cyan strawberry ones that give you speed boost. So after a little bit you find an open clearing with a suspicious circle of berry bushes. After collecting 3-4 berry bushes you hear a far off roar. You get a little scared, but a few more couldn’t hurt. 5-7 and there’s a louder roaring with a scraping sound.Maybe you should get out… but… you take the last 4 berry bushes and suddenly a mammalian mass of fur bursts out of the underbrush and roars at you!
The Glutlo is a large mammalian creature that is sort of a mini boss that can be found multiple times. It resembles a bear and a wolverine, mixed with a skunk,a badger, and a little bit of wild boar. It’s white and brown fur is stained with purple berry juice around it’s mouth and front paws.He has some spikes coming out of his shoulders and his front paws end in large claws that they walk on like a giant anteaters. His fight consists of 2 phases
PHASE 1:The Glutlo will circle and pace around him, he can do a charging attack that will destroy any blocks it runs into,or will do a stink cloud,If you run into it you will gain poison and nausea. He can also go on his back legs and stand upright, he can then bear hug you, where you will have to attack him enough for him to let you go.
PHASE 2: After taking enough damage he will have the same basic attacks, except now he will do more damage and the stink cloud now includes blindness. His only new attack is that he can now eat large handfuls of the power berries, Red ones will make him do more damage, Cyan ones make him faster and his attacks faster, and the Green ones make him do some ground pounds.
After his defeat he will not actually die, and instead will lie down, unconscious. You can either kill him while he is down,or… you can feed him berries, salmon, raw mutton or beef to start taming him. However, he will not be as easily tamed as a wolf or ocelot, instead he will become at his first taming level, will just be neutral towards you. At the next level he is neutral but will fight any monsters around you. Then he will become like a dog where you can make him sit(almost same animation as the knockout) and he will fight. Finally, you can try to ride him like a horse(same system, armor, chests, except he does more damage when you fall off). He will be able bite enemies when you ride on him,and do the berry abilities if you feed them berries.
IDEA#3 :INFECTIOUS MOBS
This large bug will attack from above, they poison creatures with their stingers, and slash with large pincers. They use leaf like camouflage to blend in with the leaf blocks they spawn on.It is about 1 and a half blocks tall. They will attack any large animals(cow, sheep, pig, horse, llama,Player) that wander beneath their treetop territory, however they only attack players if they’re attacked or hungry. Sometimes when they encounter large animals, they will just sting them and then leave them alone… Strange, huh ? The said animal will begin to move a bit slower than all of the other animals.Soon the skin will grow paler and strange white bumps break through part of their skin, and they seem to gravitate towards trees. Soon the beast will be completely feral, attacking anyone who nears him, as horrible insectoid heads burst through his stomach. If you kill it, a bunch of these leaf bug larvae burst out and run around like crazy! If you do not kill him, he will just eventually start taking damage and just spawn larvae around it, with them eating their way out of the host…. Yuck.
Okay, it's time for dumping in another useless idea to give BobMowzie a good laugh in the free time he has to look at our comments and rise his morals.
So.. let's recap my failures:
-A bird thing that does too many things
-An octopus that spawns in modded dimensions, has an awful texture&animation, but changes shapes to a random mob from the game
-A frog/dragon thing that doesn't know where to spawn
Okay, here goes nothing:
"The...skull...thing..."(yeah, I didn't come up with a good name for it yet). So let's give this guy a small introduction: Mowzie's mobs adds new bosses to spice up the normal mc overworld, as normal minecraft really lacks some aspects(or at least that's what I think). But when it comes to the end and the nether, the two places already have their own bosses! So of course that I'll have to force the skull thing in the nether! HOW GENIUS! So... The skull thing is some kind of dark saturated purple reptile with a smooth body, only two limbs which end in... bone fingers... fingers with giant claws and which lack any kind of tissue; and it's head is a dinsaur-like skull with two gold blocks and a diamond block on what's supposed to be the forehead. Also the skull is flaming to look extra spooky. There can only be one skull thing that naturally generates in the nether at a time. It's ginormous, about four times the size of the ender dragon and it has about 450 health.
Ch.1:spawning; It spawns anywhere behind opaque blocks so that the player can't see it, and digs around through the Nether, remaining out of sight. It opens up a "bubble" where space-time is distorted, and when seen on the surface, it looks like a portal... How can I say to explain this...The mob opens a portal with it's skeleton hands and goes inside it and travels through the nether inside the portal to prevent mob griefing because everything will be awful afterwards. After a few minecraft days, the players may hear roars. After a bit more, the player may see in the distance the mob for the first time exposed, while it's coming out of a wall, picking up a zombie pigman between it's fingers and dropping it inside it's mouth, then turns around at the player and slowly goes back digging while staring at the player with it's empty eyes, and closes its portal behind, barely to be seen again. If the player is inside a nether cave, and can't see any places empty enough for the monster to fit in, then it will apear right in front of your face, SCREECH!!! and go on digging. On multiplayer, the mob will try to appear when a player can see it or one can't, or when two players can see it from pretty much the same distance.
Ch.2: A.I.: after the player is screeched in it's face or sees the monster eating a pigman, it can find a structure made out of quartz resembling a rib cage. If it breaks any blocks of the structure, the blocks will turn into an entity over the course of three seconds or less. If the player is in the middle of the spikes, it has to run away in those three seconds, then the rib cage will reveal to be the teeth of the monster, and the mouth will snap like a beartrap and the dragon thing will come out of the ground, unless the player is outside the teeth when it breaks the block, when they will simply snap without waiting three seconds. After the grand entrance, the mob will do a shockwave giving the player some distance, and will start attacking. It can regenerate, and has a giant melee attack, so you have to keep that distance the monster gave you, and start exploiting it's weak point:Itself. It's range attack is making it's arms a fist and throwing them to the player like a yo-yo(How threatning, I know...), because it has its hands attached to it's arm via some kind of bony chain. After you dodge the fist yo-yos three times, the mob will stop regenerating and fall to the ground, loosing a.i. for one time(also the skull flame extinguishes), and the player has to break one of the gold blocks, dealing 150 damage. Then, the mob will enter it's second state, where it's smooth body grows spikes, and A.I.-wise makes it's arms some kind of pins and throws them at the player. They're a bit less accurate, but the y get stuck in the ground for a second, in which it can move it's arms and create a wave through the "chains" which can hurt the player. In this state, the player has to use a pickaxe(actually, any weapon, but the best one is the pickaxe) to break off the hands and leave them stuck in the ground, forcing the mob to spend 50 HP regrowing them. after braking of three arms, Surprise-surprise, the player has to break it's second gold block. it will now enter it's third stage, where it has rib cages as an armor. Now, it will swing it's chains in a circle and rub them against the surrounding blocks to heat them, and to protect the mob. After they're heated enough, it will slowly stop swinging them and it's head flame will turn blue, and prepare for a laser-beam. in this time, you have to shoot preferably an arrow in it's mouth to trigger an explosion. After 3 explosions, the mob will display it's death animation, where it finally goes out of the bubble-portal-thing and chases the player, only to disintegrate into powder just before it's attempt to bite the player. The death will trigger a /give command which gives the player the skull of the mob, which as a "+NBT" tag, so that when it places it on the ground, the chest will have the two gold blocks, a diamond block, and an energy ball thing which can be used as fuel, it lasts twice as long as lava, it burns things twice as fast, and if you put charcoal or coal in a furnace while the orb is still active, it has a small chance of resulting into diamonds or emeralds(okay, that's probably a bit too much...). Also, if the player tries to dig a tunnel to attack the guy from below, then the skull thing will send some kind of devastating earthquake.
Now please, don't JUST say that "it would be too hard to A.I./Animate/Model". This mob is purely fictional. All i wanna know is how much will this mob reward the player, and how can it be improved, as i'm curious about how making games/mods work when it comes to the creatures...
Btw: I wonder if you've ever considered a mob jockey...
Btw2: Guys, you MUST!!! use an enchantment on the sol visage. It looks AMAZING!!! Btw3: Why does it show a mario level thing on the screen when hitting the Ferrous Wroughnaut with a sun laser?
I'm sorry, but once again, the idea is too disjointed. There's the mob serves no coherent role in the world or gameplay. As you asked, I'm ignoring the impossibilities of actually programming this mob. It's simply not what I'm looking for.
As a rule of thumb, a good mob idea should be able to convince me in one or two sentences.
Yuck.
The first idea is pretty neat! I like how it's a new way to interact with mobs.
I'm afraid I'm not too interested in simply tooth-and-claw creatures. I like your drawing though.
The poison bug is kinda cool, but I don't think it would fit into Mowzie's Mobs. Sorry.
In terms of critter-like mobs (I recall you mentioning that you were thinking about making a number of simpler mobs to allow updates to come out a bit more frequently) do you plan on giving each/most biomes a single critter, or more than one?
As usual, thanks for the wonderful creations!
So, no Frost Maw for 1.10.2?

In the center of the Sturdy Stone, there is always a Worm Nest. these only generate in the overworld and can be placed with a single worm automatically inside. this little worm is tame, and likes to wriggle around inside the little bowl-shaped nest. this block is a decor/utility, and feeding the worm some dirt gives you bone meal. once you've right click the bowl with dirt, however, it takes about a minute. this does, however, give you 10 bonemeal, so its worth it XD
haha unoriginal signature go brr
Seems pretty balanced. I don't exactly see the point, but then again, I don't see any reason not to.
Goodbye, Minecraft forums. If any of ya'll future people persons need to contact me for whatever dumb reason, my discord is EnderDude124#8340 as of 6/8/2019. Send me a message, I like a good chat.
You're right, this was a bit of an oversight. All good ideas, I have to think about which one fits it best.
Oh, for sure. I just have other priorities at the moment.
Hm, this doesn't strike me as the best addition. Sorry.
Also a good idea.
It's coming. Not sure how long, though.
This is exactly what the Barakoa are?
I'm sorry, but this idea does not interest me.
\
Sorry.
This could be neat, but I feel like the mob's mechanics should play heavier on it's unique amphibious theme, not just the tribal theme.
did you also create the betweenlands and jurrasicraft mods?
Are you planning for a 1.12 release?
He didn't do them himself, but yes. He did work on them. This mod, (mowzies mobs) is entirely his work. (I think.)

Coudersport you add a Boss that will spawn in the mountain and has the abilitysame of of that earth thing.
I helped out with both mods, yeah!
Yes, but not for a while...
I really don't know. I've never timed any step of the process.
Don't forget pau101! He makes major contributions to the technical side of the mod.
iLexiconn played a big part in getting the mod started, too.
Sure, something similar was discussed a few pages back.
This crash was caused by the Chameleon Creepers mod.

INSPIRATIONS:
The floaters are inspired mainly by the Korok http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Korok and the Deku scrubs of zelda fame https://zelda.gamepedia.com/Deku_Scrub , the mammal is ,as stated, really a combination of berry loving forest creatures. the bugs are based on those creepy bugs that lay eggs in other bugs, and also the grey widowers from Stephen King's The Mist http://stephenkingsthemist.wikia.com/wiki/Gray_Widower and the greenie bugs from the gone series https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6686101-plague .
