Now I can't get back in without immediately getting kicked out. Any ideas?
That's very strange and unfortunate. That error looks like a networking error. Figuring out which mod is screwing up is going to be tricky. Check all of the log files (both client and server logs) for clues as to which mod is sending network data when you get auto-kicked. Also try deleting the character data file from the server in-case the corrupt data was saved in your character data.
Maybe some mod is sending a corrupt data packet? Base Metals doesn't do any low-level packet manipulation, but I have occasionally had problems with NEI crashing the client when the blockstate of a block you're looking at changes (glowing redstone ore was the most common trigger). I was able to solve that by simple hiding the information box that NEI shows at the top of the screen. My friend also ran into a similar problem with the Animal Bikes mod after I dyed the nose of a reindeer.

I figured out how to disable vanilla ore generation without making a core mod! I was digging through the Minecraft/Forge code and I noticed that there was a MinecraftForge.ORE_GEN_BUS event bus. I registered an event handler for the OreGenEvent class, set the even result to DENY, and then suddenly there was no vanilla ore generation (other mod ore generators still worked normally).
Not only does this version add the ability to turn-off vanilla ore-gen, but it also adds a new metal plate block. Metal plates are mostly decorative, but you can protect a wall from explosions by covering it in steel plates (or better yet, adamantine plates) and the metal plates will be used as recipe ingredients in my up-coming Power Advantage mod.

I am a 1.8 Minecraft enthusiast. If i give any ideas to you for your mod that you like or even if I just came to say I like this mod, that basically means I would like this mod for 1.8.
I have ASD. I will most likely speak in a way that could offend people, that's the way I've always been (socially awkward), however, I do not mean to be offensive to anyone. Tactfulness has never been one of my strong suits. So, if your going to hate me...then don't bother talking to me as you will just waste my time and yours as well.
Despite what you're thinking the age in my profile is the actual true age. I find it amazing how many people think that ten is my actual age.
There doesn't appear to be an API for reinforced tools and the github sourcecode is out of date (last update was a year ago), so I cannot add any content to my mods using Reinforced Tools. However, I have provided a mod API for Base Metals, so maybe you could interest Reinforced Tools author Atijaf in using the materials from Base Metals.
For those wondering why an API is so important, an API (short for application programming interface) is a non-obfuscated library (.jar file or source-code in this case) that a programmer can provide to their IDE and to the java compiler so that the calls to function in the external code can be properly translated into byte-code. Without the API, you cannot compile java code that uses the other mod, even though the API jar is not needed at runtime. The only way to use external code without an API in java is to manually edit the raw java byte-code, but doing so is extremely hard, breaks all of your debugging tools, removes safety checks, flags your .jar files as suspect to anti-virus software, and will crash Minecraft at runtime (rather than on start-up) if the required other mod is not present.

Hmm, that's when I fixed the bug that made the Crack Hammer not work on coal blocks. I guess fixing that bug introduced a new one. Or maybe the new difficulty options are to blame. Could you please help me squash this bug by doing the following tests:
1. Can you crack gravel blocks by mining them with the Crack Hammer?
2. Can you crack gravel blocks by right-clicking them on the floor with the Crack Hammer?
3. Can the tin Crack Hammer crack gravel? What about the adamantine one?
4. Does setting the config option enforce_hardness=false fix this issue?
5. Does setting the config option strong_hammers=true fix this issue?

First off, I think this is a great alternative to metallurgy, a more simpler version, especially for 1.8.
The thing is though, the silver armor textures are glitched whenever I try to put them on. Could you fix it?

Chestplate gives the purple and black checkered textures, the other parts of the armor (leggings, helmet) become black.
I must have made a typo in the texture name. I'll fix that when as soon as I have the time.

Base Metals, Power Advantage, Steam Advantage, Electric Advantage, Minecraft Mineralogy, Dr. Cyano's Lootable Bodies, Dr. Cyano's Wonderful Wands & Wizarding Robes
It's fixed now in version 1.3.1

I have a new mod (actually a pair of mods and an API) that use the Base Metals API. You can see it here:
Power Advantage
It took a lot of hard work to make Power Advantage, but if you like Base Metals, then you will probably love Power Advantage.

Base Metals, Power Advantage, Steam Advantage, Electric Advantage, Minecraft Mineralogy, Dr. Cyano's Lootable Bodies, Dr. Cyano's Wonderful Wands & Wizarding Robes
Excelent work, Renton! That narrows down my bug hunt quite a bit. I probably forgot to ignore the tool level for non-stone blocks. I'll fix it soon and push the update.

The mods aren't playing together well enough. Not sure why.
That error means that you are running Minecraft with java 6. You need to use Java 7 or later.
My mods:
Base Metals, Power Advantage, Steam Advantage, Electric Advantage, Minecraft Mineralogy, Dr. Cyano's Lootable Bodies, Dr. Cyano's Wonderful Wands & Wizarding Robes
I fixed the gravel bug and made the Crack Hammer less picky about what it mines. Hopefully that means fewer unforeseen bugs. Get it here:
Base Metals v1.3.2
My mods:
Base Metals, Power Advantage, Steam Advantage, Electric Advantage, Minecraft Mineralogy, Dr. Cyano's Lootable Bodies, Dr. Cyano's Wonderful Wands & Wizarding Robes
I get crashes regardless of the version I've installed, and the best conclusion I can come to is that there's an incompatibility with other mods, and I've narrowed it down to Dynamic Lights, Too Many Items, and Biomes O' Plenty.
