A mod that seeks to add vegan alternatives to all Minecraft mob/animal products using the following guidelines:
Nothing added to worldgen
No new crops added
"Veganism is a way of living that seeks to exclude, as far as possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose."
- The Vegan Society
Pam's HarvestCraft - Food mod that adds vegan alternatives for most (if not all) recipes Not Enough Items - VO integrates with NEI to provide in-game documentation
4 Encrusted Obsidian blocks placed in a diamond shape creates an Ender Rift in the center of it
Water flowing through an Ender Rift at night has a chance to be converted into Raw Ender. However, if this is done during the day, a random block around the Ender Rift will be consumed by it and lost forever.
Soap + Water + Sugar + Glass Bottle crafted together creates Soap Solution
Soap Solution + 8 Ice (or 1 Packed Ice) crafted together creates a Frozen Bubble (Pufferfish alternative)
Soap Solution used by a player or a dispenser creates a Bubble in the world, and the Bubble will freeze if it is surrounded by enough Ice/Snow/Packed Ice
Frozen Bubble + Raw Ender Bucket crafted together creates an Ender Pearl
Frozen Bubble placed in Raw Ender (in the world) will soak up the Raw Ender and become an Ender Pearl once it is fully filled
Burlap and Black Vegetable Oil Ink are usable in the Mystcraft Book Binder/Ink Mixer
BBQ Sauce and BBQ Tofu added when HarvestCraft is installed

FAQ
Why?
In-game veganism is simply a playstyle that I prefer, in that I think survival games offer a unique way to explore vegan ethics that the real world doesn't provide. For example, attempting to adhere to veganism within Minecraft leads to weird/interesting questions like, "Is it really self-defense to kill a mob if I'm semi-responsible for mobs being able to spawn at all?". It can also encourage non-standard behavior like building a weapon that does the least amount of damage possible.
Do I have to play as a vegan if I install this?
No, this mod simply aims to allow veganism to be a viable option in Minecraft. If you don't choose to adhere to veganism while using this mod, it'll still do a few nice things for you:
Allows for alternate (hopefully interesting) methods of obtaining mob drops
Gives uses to various vanilla Minecraft blocks/items that didn't really have a use before (ferns, sunflowers, spruce wood, sandstone, etc)
Another good option for you animal lovers out there is Botania. It adds several ways to get animal materials without harming animals, including shedding. Is the use of shedded feathers vegan? I have no idea. I don't know much about the subject.
I'll be entirely honest. As someone who was vegetarian for about a year before going vegan (which has now been several years).
I've never quite understood bringing ethical things like this into gaming.
I'm not sure there's much to understand. I found that I quite enjoyed the process of coming up with alternatives and figuring out how to fit them together; this is mostly just the end result of that.
On compatibility is it possible to add some for plants mega pack? some of the features require the use of animal products and with the added compatibility you guys would go great together!
EDIT: after experimenting I found that they already work just fine!

does this mod just add the items alongside the others? if it does then i might try this mod, although as Emerald_Chicken so aptly put it ^ i'm also "Religiously carnivorous"
Note to self: use "Religiously carnivorous" more often.......
but seriously the mod looks great so far and seems like it could have a lot of potential for adding (well for me) more ways to get hard to find materials

This looks amazing! As a 100% Vegetarian and mostly vegan (I love cheese), I think this mod adds that little bit of something extra to minecraft. It's nice being vegan in minecraft without having to live on bread. (Until you have enough gold to use on carrots) I am considering adding this to my modpack, and I probably will.

I plan to keep an eye on this though. It is interesting if nothing else.

Not yet. See Goals Before v1.0.0 in the OP.

Yes, in the same way that it is in vanilla Minecraft.
Yes.
On another note; Are you vegan in real life?
Yes.
