Wow! It looks great! Thank you so much, Zohar. I'll add links to the wiki and give you credit for your hard work.
I'm going to transition from providing all of the information on the forum post to putting the information on the wiki and using the forum post as more of an advertisement for the mod.
On a different note, I'm thinking of updating Mineralogy to make this change: add a saprolite grass block and then remove saprolite from being a rock layer and make it replace the dirt in jungle biomes. This will better match the real-world occurance or saprolite. I'll also add options to restrict Mineralogy to just the Overworld dimension.
My mods: Base Metals, Power Advantage, Steam Advantage, Electric Advantage, Minecraft Mineralogy, Dr. Cyano's Lootable Bodies, Dr. Cyano's Wonderful Wands & Wizarding Robes
Heh I had to look up all the rocks/ore/dirt earlier when I was listing them so now I know what saprolite is and yeah you could just put it in jungle, the way podzol is now in evergreen forests in minecraft.
As for dimension restriction, you mean for mods that add other biomes to nether or add other dimensions?
@WhiskytangoFox: The way I'd like to do it is replace all ore blocks (either on ore-gen or during stone replacement) with a container block that basically acts like a chest. The biggest hurdle has been how to do the 2 layer rendering with proper lighting and without causing a huge performance hit when there are thousands of ore blocks withing the area. I'll send you a PM to talk about the details.
@zohar101: Yes, that is correct. For example: suppose Twilight Forest updates to 1.8 (maybe it already did, I haven't checked). Some people might want to have normal stone in the Twilight Forest dimension instead of Mineralogy stones.

You Should Add An Earth Core Layer Under Bedrock Which Can Be Made Of Magma And Make Bedrock Breakable In Survival Because It Is Technically Breakable In Real Life And That When You Fall In The Earth Core Layer You Die Instantly Because In Real Life Its Magma Is The Hottest Natural Thing On Earth So It Would Kill Instanty

I just had a new idea for how to do the ores that will allow you to use resource packs to add support for ores from other mods as well:
I'd create an ore block whose blockstate determines which texture it uses for the stone background and makes the lumps of ore stick out (3D ores). When the mod launches, Mineralogy would search the resources for ore models that extend my 3D ore model and create a block object for them and use those in place of the original ore block in terrain generation.
It will take a while to implement this idea.

I'm not aware of 1.9 blockstates and was just inspired by how annoying direct renderring is and how cool 3D resourcepacks are.
How are MC 1.9 blockstates different from MC 1.8?

I love this mod, especially paired with geocraft, which replaces vanilla oregen (blobs) with more realistic "mines" for ores. Kimberlite spikes reaching toward bedrock, some diamonds embedded within, coal mines with rich coal ore hidden behind regular coal ore, spidery veins of hematite(iron), long vertical quartz tendrils with occasional gold embedded within some of them.... So amazing.
Btw, low-res is 16x, medium is 32x and high-res is 64x, right?

Let me know what you think! I personally liked the ore mine shapes. They look very realistic. Just set the rarity down to 4 instead of 16, makes them a bit more common. I've found multiple kimberlite spikes next to each other.

I've a question, for Dr. Cyano.
I'm running MC 1.8 with the latest version of Forge. I have a special building project using real life stones and blocks of gems (block of sapphire, topaz and etc.) The only stone that I saw missing is Marble. Here's what I'm looking for:
Red stones: carnelian, garnet, ruby, coral
Yellow stones: topaz, amber, citrine, gold
Green stones: emerald, Chrysoprase, peridot, jade, malachite, turquoise
Blue stones: lapis Lazuli, aquamarine, chalcedony, sapphire
Purple stones: amethyst
Black Stones: onyx
Brown stones: topaz, dark amber, agate, chalcedony
White stones: jade, chalcedony, opal, alabaster, marble
Silver stones: silver, granite
Iridescent stones: opal
Pink stones: rose quartz
Clear stones: quartz crystal
I am obviously using Dr. Cyano's Minerology mod and Base Metal. I am also using Biomes O'Plenty. Can you or someone help me? I'd like to use as many of the stones and blocks of precious stones in the list. Did I miss marble? My plan is to build a beautiful house to use as a reference in a story. I may add McCrayfish furniture mod or something to fill things out.
Yes, it's okay to substitute the type of stone.

I'm not sure about the precious stone blocks, but the quartz blocks look just like marble (no mods required for that one).

This works in 1.8 on biomes o plenty worlds, which is really good. This is a great mod, and i really like it.
The mod Enhanced Biomes has ores that only spawn in certain types of stone. Maybe you could ask the author how he did it?
You should start getting used to how awesome Dr Cyano's mods are

What is, and is not, in the 1.7.10 version?
I'm looking at choosing between the following underground mods:
UBC
Geologica
Better Geo (aka SwedenU)
GeoCraft (Reika)
Mineralogy (this)
UBC's big issue: Underground is independent of the above ground, and is simple layers.
Geologica, and Better Geo, both want to redo ore placement and types, but are significantly more realistic.
Geocraft ... I tested a very old/early version back in 164; I have not played with the current version yet.
