I made it like the others said with 5x reinforcements, it was just too much for the system to handle to break over 600 blocks in one go. with enough durability and no obsidian parts it worked fine.
I believe there is a bug where traits that make a tool lose extra durability on use(obsidian's duritae, mannyullen's insatiable, etc) would bypass 'unbreakable' and make the tools lose durability.

Yeah, and the code for unbreakable goes nuts and tries frantically to work, causing a crash.

Uh no, it does NOT cause a crash. But the tool does lose durability which isn't supposed to happen.

Before you post something on the Tinkers' Construct thread... please read this.
If you have a crash log, READ it before posting it (and if you do, use spoilers). Some stuff should be obvious to where it comes from. Try reproducing the same thing with only Tinkers' Construct or Mantle on vanilla Forge (please do make sure that you're using the latest TiC and Mantle versions). If it still does happen, report it to the issue tracker (Yes, you have to sign up... but it's not that hard).
Last but not least, please do not ask for unsupported versions (1.7.10, 1.8.9) or ask for non-existent ones (1.8)!
Which was the tool breaking, and not the game crashing?
He had obsidian, which had the 'duritae' trait that would use up extra durability, causing his axe to break after some time. When he chanced the obsidian with another material, it lost the 'duritae' trait that was making it lose durability, so it stopped breaking.
Oh, I was referring to that problem mg127 was having.
He never mentioned even having a crash...

For the past week or so, I've been unable to launch Minecraft to the main menu without a crash.
I'm using the DireWolf20 1.10.2 pack and have determined the problem is Tinker's Construct (I removed all mods then readded them 1 by 1 till the game crashed, tinkers is the only mod that causes the crashing).

I don't think so.
If you take a look at my quoted version of his crash report, you'll see that I marked something red and bold. (EDIT, BB Code is stupid)
And I happen to know a developer/user-of-this-forum named The_WeatherPony. Have sent him a PM as well.
Ah, so it's his code that's acting up. Dang, that's harsh.

Heya. Been a while. I've started up another series that is designed to help people with a walk through of the new Tinkers' Construct 2 for 1.10.2. I hope this helps any out there as I tried to make sure it had a very detailed run through early game, what a lot of non-tool/weapon items are and how to use them, plus the new features of 1.10.2. Please let me know if it helps and spread it to others if you think they'll need it (or will like it). I still plan to do several more vids (specifically on tool/weapon making/modifying) but this should get anyone into the mod at this point and be able to run wild with it.
Hi, does anyone know how I can do to destroy the weapons or tools made by the mod? Try throwing them to lava or cactus, I have many items that are rendered useless.

TC version 1.7.10
I'd recommend stuff like the Trashcan from MrCrayfish's furniture mod. That should do it. Don't see why you'd want to, unless the tools are made of a material that can't mine much, or you messed up on modifiers.

Thanks, I play with friends on a server of ours, there are tools and weapons of wood and stone for quantities, we can not destroy them and when we throw them so that they disappear they do not.[/pre]
Yo i know you aren't the original developer but im glad gregtech didn't survive the update. i was tired of his mod crashing the game.

One word... OptiFine.
Not a Tinkers' issue.

I removed Optifine, still getting the same crash.
You are using Java 8?

I have Version 8 Update 111 (build 1.8.0_111-b14).
<edit 1>
I've narrowed it down further, it's something tinkers related in my resource pack.
<edit 2>
Found the problem.
It was the json I created to try and get clay casts to have their own sprite (clay_cast.json).
So this crash isn't supposed to happen?

Why not just fix them? You can put them back on the tool station and repair them with a block or three of the original materials.
I'd recommend stuff like the Trashcan from MrCrayfish's furniture mod. That should do it. Don't see why you'd want to, unless the tools are made of a material that can't mine much, or you messed up on modifiers.
